Thank you R4 for the title.

OP posts:
enochroot · 16/03/2017 10:34

It was an effigy of Justin that was burnt. Charlie complained.

ppeatfruit · 16/03/2017 10:39

Yes thanks enoch Blush It wasn't last year was it?

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/03/2017 10:42

It was an effigy of Justin that was burnt. Charlie complained.

Was this the start of us warming to Charlie (those of us that did)? Am still half-hoping he'll be back.

enochroot · 16/03/2017 11:47

I think I started warming to Charlie when he gave Rob such a hard time over the public tour of the digester.

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/03/2017 11:55

In other news, I have caught up on previous thread - turns out I wasn't that far behind.

So may I say: I make flapjack (singular), I offer a piece of flapjack, also they are round (makes 16). Also I have been known to make a batch and eat the lot, by myself, in one evening

Looking forward to hearing Pat v Ursula on LA.

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/03/2017 11:57

*they are round
of course technically speaking I suppose each is a sector of a circle

ppeatfruit · 16/03/2017 12:00

Well there won't be much for Charlie to do except Adam .Now The Berrow site is going to be used by Alice's firm. It'll surely need rebuilding.

DadDadDad · 16/03/2017 13:08

each is a sector of a circle

I doubt it, unless you live in a two-dimensional universe. I suspect your pieces of flapjack are sectors of a (rough approximation to a) cylinder.

(If the baking tin has sloping sides, it could even be a frustrum of a cone rather than a cylinder).

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/03/2017 13:39

DadDadDad this is so true!

Also, I don't put syrup in my flapjack (not a euphemism!)

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/03/2017 13:49

No it isn't, its a frustum (no second 'r') isn't it - from the Latin meaning "piece". OHOH frustrum is a piece - of land. Also what if it's a sphere?

Aargh!

PS my usual belated thanks for the thread, pseudo Archers Brew

DadDadDad · 16/03/2017 14:07

You're right - I've misspelt "frustum" and I have a feeling I have been spelling and saying it wrong for years. Blush

Of course, it's a rule that when pedanting on someone else's pedantry, one will make an error of one's own!

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/03/2017 14:39

OTOH Grin

In yet more news, a long-standing friend just compared me to Lillian and I was quite pleased

DadDadDad · 16/03/2017 15:31

So, does anyone call you Pusscat in real life? And have you got the cackle laugh?

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/03/2017 15:45

DDD (if I may so address you)

a) No
b) Sometimes, I'm afraid. When I've suddenly seen the funny side of things Grin It can be a bit annoying, I grant you. But I don't think I do it too often...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/03/2017 19:13

Go Peggy! 'Don't tell me you're a liar as well as a cheat!'

Well done too on this chat with Kirsty.

redshoeblueshoe · 16/03/2017 19:51

Ha bloody ha - Lillian enjoyed the thrill of the chase, no way does she want to be Mrs Elliott. I could cheerfully slap Jenny, I would be really pleased if Lillian told JD that she knows Justin is a serial cheater and that she won't settle for that. that should wipe the smug grin of her face

Imbroglio · 16/03/2017 20:42

The chat with Kirsty was lovely.

selsigfach · 16/03/2017 22:25

That was a surreal when-Ambridge-collides-with-reality episode for me - we know Anna Jones!

selsigfach · 16/03/2017 22:27

Yes Peggy and Kirsty were lovely. You'd expert Peggy to be an old boot and say 'well these things happen' but she was very compassionate.

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/03/2017 22:53

For no apparent reason, I find myself considering the difference between "Knob" (speaks for itself) and "Nob" - a kind of toff. Insults, of course.

But maybe I'm getting mixed up with another thread/

ErrolTheDragon · 16/03/2017 23:14

Just caught up on this week...and the thread. Enjoyed the geometric flapjack banter and DDD falling foul of Muphry's law more than most of the episodes, except that nice bit with kirsty and peggy of course ... and the mention of Patrick.

StVincent · 17/03/2017 01:18

Loved Peggy and Kirsty. Bechdel test passing at its best. And lovely that she is interested in more than dynasty building and actually feels some gratitude.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/03/2017 08:02

Yes - Peggy's reasons had virtually nothing to do with Tom, it was the support kirsty gave Helen and Pat in particular she appreciated.

ppeatfruit · 17/03/2017 08:47

redshoe The irony (and stupidity) of Lilian not wanting to marry a cheater when SHE was the subject of the cheating is a bit much for even her dim character to resort to surely.

The last thing she seems to want is cosy domestic fidelity anyway.

birdsdestiny · 17/03/2017 09:04

I loved the kirsty/ Peggy chat. I wanted to cheer. As long as she doesn't eventually use the nest egg to pay for a wedding to Tom.
