Thank you R4 for the title.

Didn't Pip swear Ed to secrecy? He'd have been very unwise to say anything to his dad, given how much of a gossip Eddie is.

I see my hopes of Tiger returning disappearing over the horizon...

But maybe he will turn up at the wedding and declare his undying love [ironic Flowers]

As I say, I'm just an old romantic.

birdsdestiny · 19/03/2017 19:46

I know I shouldn't like Brian but I really do.

TheAntiBoop · 19/03/2017 19:59

Surely the wedding won't be for a long while.

TheSilveryPussycat · 19/03/2017 20:04

Probably not...
so Tiger has a chance before that then eh? Wink

Megatherium · 19/03/2017 20:41

Does anyone watch Countryfile? They were pushing the Young Farmer of the year competition this evening. I'm seriously tempted to enter Pip for her sterling work in using natural methods to cull the Brookfield herd. 😄

ErrolTheDragon · 19/03/2017 23:12

He's played so well - spot-on timing in the conversation with JD and Lilian. Dreadful double standards about the inconveniences caused by affairs, of course.

graciestocksfield · 19/03/2017 23:32

I don't blame Lilian. A bit of fun is all very well but committment to a confessed serial cheat is quite another matter. Plus I get the impression Justin needs a woman to look after him and can't manage on his own, which is a red flag for me.

TheSilveryPussycat · 19/03/2017 23:55

He's played so well - spot-on timing in the conversation with JD and Lilian.

And a subtle undertone of cynical understanding, I couldn't help but think...

Gherkinsmummy · 20/03/2017 08:21

I don't blame Lilian either. She made it clear that she's just in it for fun - ascot, glyndeborne, champagne. She's not interested in being a wife and it was rude and entitled of Justin to presume.

ppeatfruit · 20/03/2017 10:17

Auld A proper relationship is one where you CAN share few interests and enjoy a walk by a lake or wherever. Not just banging every day and going out to the effing races.

Lil is frightened of normal domestic life.

I do think there's a bit of character changing going on here . Come on Script Writers read up Lil's character archives.

TheAntiBoop · 20/03/2017 10:46

I don't know if Lillian is out of character. I think Justin was her rebound relationship and it was safe because he was married and therefore she didn't have to take it too seriously.

ppeatfruit · 20/03/2017 10:57

I 'm not sure about that Anti The way she sighed and moaned over him when she could'nt see him for a few days, wasn't lighthearted, and the way she's carrying on now!!

I really liked Brian's interjection, Jenny's a drip.

TheAntiBoop · 20/03/2017 11:00

I think he was a distraction and she liked having him around. I don't think she necessarily wanted a serious relationship though. It's quite a step change

ppeatfruit · 20/03/2017 11:05

I don't think SHE knows what she wants actually, like an 18 yr. old!

BroomstickOfLove · 20/03/2017 11:08

Justin is a serial cheat.

Although he claimed that he and Miranda had 'an understanding', subsequent events showed this to be a definite exaggeration.

Justin treated Muranda with a great deal of disrespect during his affair with Lilian.

Justin flatly refused to listen to Lillian about Rob, and has a history of trampling over anyone who disagrees with him or gets in his way.

Throughout the relationship, and especially in the past fortnight, Justin has made decisions about the relationship without discussing the issues with Lilian.

In his professional life, Justin is a bully.

I would think very, very carefully before marrying him.

BroomstickOfLove · 20/03/2017 11:15

I think that she enjoyed feeling young and exciting and desirable and naughty. I think that she loved the way Justin made her feel without necessarily loving Justin. When Matt left, her self-confidence was badly damaged. I think that Justin was part of her trying to find her way back from that.

ppeatfruit · 20/03/2017 11:20

But he did apologise about the Rob thing. You're right he's a user Broomstick So is Lilian, they are well suited IMO.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/03/2017 11:25

But he did apologise about the Rob thing
yes, after the event when the stefan/culvert thing came out, not really because he'd had any qualms about hiring the man who'd abused Lillian's neice. If it hadn't been for Stefan, Justin would have been all too happy to carry on using Rob for his dirty work . He used and bullied Rob too - he really enjoyed pulling his chain at the end - which may have been somewhat gratifying for listeners but not exactly a great character reference.

ppeatfruit · 20/03/2017 11:31

There you go Errol She likes 'bad boys' Matt was a bona fide criminal, (with a prison sentence to prove it) some posters seem to have forgotten.

glowfrog · 20/03/2017 12:26

I didn't! I hated Matt. And I have never forgotten the crappy way Lillian treated Brenda.

EsmesBees · 20/03/2017 13:04

Paul wasn't a 'bad boy' though. At least at the start. In fact I don't remember him having much of a personality until he turned all controlling.

TheAntiBoop · 20/03/2017 13:35

He was a sop. I've kind of blanked the Paul episode from my memory because it didn't make any sense

I like Matt as a character - much more than Justin.

ppeatfruit · 20/03/2017 13:42

Well thanks glowfrog .

Paul was a 'coercive controller' . He was horrible to his children and his ex wife. The CC was starting with Lilian before he died. Though Lil has seemed to have removed it from her memory.

LeninaCrowne · 20/03/2017 13:52

Some of the Paul stuff was on "Ambridge Extra", which was for "da youth", and easily missed.

Actually, much as I like the actors playing Justin and Lilian, I'm tired of this Justin and Lilian stuff. Maybe Hugh Canoe can organise a "Ambridge Autumn Sonata" spin-off for story lines about their "love life" and some of the other mature characters like Joe Grundy and his ferrets, Christine, Derek Fletcher etc etc (but obviously keep Peggy, Jim and Jill in the main show Archers).
