Nice to be back here. Have wasted far too much of the day on various TA related twitter accounts. Torn between severe conference envy and relief that I'm too busy elsewhere for all the energetic stuff they seem to have planned for this year.

Can't the SWs leave off torturing Bridge Farm now? It's rather too much ...

R4 · 16/02/2017 20:21

They can torture Plague Farm all they want. It's payback for all those years of holier-than-thou-ness.
Kirsty doesn't deserve it though. Team her up with Patrick and let them roam the world doing Good Works, occasionally sending a postcard back to Ambridge.

Butteredpars1ps · 16/02/2017 20:40

Of course Anisha is being lined up for the cricket team. I was waiting for Alistair to mention her to Harrison.

I rather enjoyed Tom's unnecessary trip to GG. Wrong, yes. Will it annoy Kirsty immensely if she finds out? yes,
But I think it's in character for Tom to thrash around in "do something Mutley" mode.

Kirsty belongs in a couple, but I don't think with Patrick. It would be a dead end for the SL

AuldHeathen · 16/02/2017 21:20

But a good writer could make something good out of a Kirsty - Patrick liaison. As we know, they can do what they like. Obviously they'd need to employ an actor. Please just do it.

Well, I've arrived safely in Lincoln. And am loving having decent city-style broadband. Apparently there's another Conference attendee here tonight. Elizabeth someone. PM me if that sounds like you. Now to listen to the episode on this fabbydabbydooby internet.

cheminotte · 16/02/2017 21:27

Keep us posted from the conference please.

Butteredpars1ps · 16/02/2017 21:51

Enjoy the conference Wine looking forward to reading the updates

Oh have fun!

Megatherium · 17/02/2017 00:31

OK, dairyfarmerswife, I'll bit. What's a cow's cluster, and why do you have to remove it?

Megatherium · 17/02/2017 00:31

Or bite, even.

EBearhug · 17/02/2017 00:53

Not dairyfarmerswife, but - it's a cluster of four tubes which go on the teats of a cow. Basically a giant breast pump (or udder pump.) You want to remove it when there's no more milk coming through because the udder is empty, so it would be uncomfortable for the cow, and because it's a waste of energy, and because you probably have another batch of cows waiting to come into the stalls for their milking.

Here's an exciting* picture.

  • Other adjectives are available.
Megatherium · 17/02/2017 08:39

Ta, EBearhug. I somehow got the impression the reference to cows no longer giving milk meant when they'd dried up completely and it was some disgusting medical thing Blush

Megatherium · 17/02/2017 09:32

Anyone else awaiting with dread the comedy Grange Farm guests who start a fire in their room and drive into the outbuildings?

CeciledeVolanges · 17/02/2017 09:49

That's me Megatherium :) I am just packing my ferrets and sombrero

Butteredpars1ps · 17/02/2017 10:41

Anyone else awaiting with dread the comedy Grange Farm guests who start a fire in their room and drive into the outbuildings?

Yes. I love Clarrie, and Eddie too when he is allowed to escape the comedy yokel stereotype. i loathe the madcap schemes though.

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 17/02/2017 11:20

Not sure if it's already been linked to, but did anyone catch this?

Hashtag love

"A live romantic comedy set behind the fictional scenes of The Archers. The drama will report and react to listeners' social media comments as it tells the story of an unravelling romance, with the audience steering the course of true love as it unfolds."

It was quite good fun - lots of mentions of the various messgeboards Grin

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 17/02/2017 11:21

...oh and the female lead is the marvellous Ruth Jones!

Butteredpars1ps · 17/02/2017 11:33

Yes. Unfortunately I heard it. The marvellous RJ was less than marvellous, but not as dire as Stephen Tompkinson.

It was not a success.

DadDadDad · 17/02/2017 12:51

I take it that when Eddie called Oliver, he simply asked "is it OK if we have visitors stay occasionally?" not mentioning that they would be paying guests, so of course Oliver said no problem, but Clarrie didn't pick up on this distinction. Presumably, they won't bother to check their insurance and other regulations for running this business.

It was a bit poignant when Eddie reported that there was no need to ask Caroline as well...

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2017 13:03

Yes we discussed the 'live' play upthread JeNeSuis , well a couple of us did and we were not very impressed Grin

Fink · 17/02/2017 13:46

Yes, D3, that's how the Eddie-Oliver conversation went in my head too, I was slightly surprised that Clarrie didn't notice. I noticed the references to Caroline too (although it must have been recorded before she died); I haven't heard them make an announcement/dedication after any of the shows, which I thought they might have done.

Imbroglio · 17/02/2017 14:26

So... um... what do you call a 'three point turn' these days?

TeenAndTween · 17/02/2017 14:41

turn the car around making use of the forward and reverse gears, I think.

Imbroglio · 17/02/2017 14:44

Ah! Catchy.

Fink · 17/02/2017 14:48

Turn in the road is the official name.

Anyone listening to the afternoon play right now? It's actually a good one.
