It was 'turn in the road' twenty years ago when I did my test!

Megatherium · 17/02/2017 16:07

What a plonker Kenton is. It's 100% inevitable that Elizabeth will find out about his little scheme, and the fact that he encouraged her son to lie to her is going to go down like a cup of cold sick.

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2017 16:22

Fink Being one of the 'older' listeners I know that the SWs sometimes replace the dead actors, sometimes they kill them (but of course it is usually 6 weeks after the actual death) and on other occasions they leave the character as a 'silent' to ,maybe, take time to think up a dramatic exit.

Fink · 17/02/2017 16:38

Oh, I didn't mean that mention should have been made in TA itself, but that I expected the CA afterwards to say something like 'this episode is dedicated to the memory of [Caroline actor whose name I don't know] who died earlier today.'

I'm almost crying now thinking of how we had to hang on for ages for Phil's death after the actor died. And the music at the end.

Butteredpars1ps · 17/02/2017 19:56

fink Norman Panting's death was very well done. But I believe Sara Coward wanted Caroline to live on. I hope they follow her wishes, although it may be difficult to get someone with a similar voice.

I enjoyed tonight. It could be entertaining if Miranda became more of a bitchy regular in Ambridge.

Cromwell1536 · 17/02/2017 19:58

I also enjoyed it, Butter. It's good to hear some other voices becoming prominent - Jazzer, Jolene. And the developing story with Miranda, Justin and Lillian is becoming more interesting.

Fink · 17/02/2017 20:00

... And we escaped any mention of Pip's birthday, as threatened upthread, unless I missed it.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 17/02/2017 21:58

Miranda is terrible. No one, no matter how awful or snobby talks like that.

MrsKwazii · 17/02/2017 22:08

Really not liking the Lillian - Justin - Miranda love triangle storyline now. Yes, Miranda is writren as an unsympathetic character, but the way she's being treated and spoken of by Justin and Lillian is really unpleasant. The fact that it seems common knowledge around the village feels really uneasy too.

AuldHeathen · 17/02/2017 23:28

Hasn't Caroline had a few mentions this week, more than usual?

I don't expect the Grundy to have any insurance - they didn't have before the deluge.

Tonight those of us who went to the extra event saw a clip of Norman P. not long before he died. And we had dinner in the Bull. A good day altogether.

AuldHeathen · 17/02/2017 23:31

Have just heard tonight's episode. Miranda sounded 'different' to me, more normal (whatever that means!). Possibly I mean less of a caricature. I agree with others - it's not a naice story line.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 17/02/2017 23:32

Only halfway through and haven't read the thread but am warming to Miranda tonight...

JazzersMaw · 17/02/2017 23:39

I thought Jazzer was good tonight. I did like Miranda wondering how 'anyone puts food on the table' due to the poor offerings in Underwood's. lt made me laugh.Smile

EBearhug · 18/02/2017 00:29

Do people really live in such rarified circles that they have never stepped foot in normal supermarkets? I struggle to believe Miranda has never spent time outside of London and is really unaware of ways to entertain oneself in the provinces without London theatres and salons and whatever.

Jazzer was great though.

I freely admit to being a terrible snob but she sounded like a dreadful caricature.

ppeatfruit · 18/02/2017 09:54

Megarithium I think that the plot line of Freddie's maths exam problem is good because making a good pass in maths mandatory for a higher education is ridiculous. We are not robots.

Also it could lead to an interesting meeting between Ifti and Lizzie. Bring back Ifti!

EBearhug · 18/02/2017 16:07

Pseudo, your thread titles got a whole slide!

Gruach · 18/02/2017 17:22

Now that is fabulous.

Hope you're having a good time EBear? I have lost most of Saturday to Academic Archers twitter scrolling.

Sittinginthesun · 18/02/2017 17:49

Oh my, I have just scrolled through Twitter!

Which Archer's Male do you assume have the biggest penis? Whole slide dedicated to this question...

ppeatfruit · 18/02/2017 17:51

Ebear Sorry I'm being dense but were her titles shown to everyone at the conference (and some of our posts too? ) Grin

LowDudgeon · 18/02/2017 19:23

Will look for Day 1 now

LowDudgeon · 18/02/2017 19:27

Nope - can't find it Confused

Anybody else?

mummytime · 18/02/2017 20:28

Not sure if they are all there yet. I think they will be by early next week. They are creating a website too.

AuldHeathen · 18/02/2017 22:13

I agree Miranda not knowing ordinary food shops was very unbelievable. But she sounded better otherwise IMO. I ought to have planned my journey better. I'll be en route to the train during the film. Hearing the film would have been an appropriate finish to the weekend.

R4 · 18/02/2017 22:17

Hello folks we have had a fabulous few days. An absolute hoot. Met many people including many wonderful MNers.

Our field trip was to Rippongale, where the landlord of The Bull wants to lay claim to the genesis of TA. Grr. I got chatting to my neighbour on the coach and we defended the claim of the West Midlands to TA - it was proved at last year's conference that Borsetshire lies between Warwickshire (where she hails from) and Worcestershire (where I currently am). We chatted some more and she mentioned the town where she went to school. "Oh," says I, "which school?" knowing in my waters what she would say. Yes, we went to the same school! It then turned out we were in the same year; we were even in the same class for the first year. So, I discovered that ... drum roll ... I went to school with The Ambridge Observer ShockShockGrin
