Thanks for answering Lillian and Rissa. Yes, it does seem that Lillian has become a bit of a characature and while I did laugh at her antics with her all coat and no knickers escapade I was also wishing she could find dome self respect. I wonder if tonight's party will be a bit of an eye opener. When it ever comes to the choice, Justin will choose Mirand I think

BertrandRussell · 03/03/2017 19:08

Why is Jennifer behaving as if she's never entertained before?

Rissabirnie- how's Siani doing? Grin

rissabirnie · 03/03/2017 19:33

Ahh Bert, I wished for a pony but never had my own Siani (or Cascade)!
Felt sorry for Miranda having to witness that scene between Justin and Lilian.

BertrandRussell · 03/03/2017 19:37

My dd actually has a Cascade!

DoctorTwo · 03/03/2017 19:39
. Blimey, I never had Danny Dyer down as a Counter Tenor!
AuntyElle · 03/03/2017 20:52

DoctorTwo That is amazing, and what a cast of characters! Love the mash-up finale Grin

AuntyElle · 03/03/2017 20:56

Enjoyed tonight's episode, thought the slow burn with Lil/Miranda was quite well done.
But the 'Oooo Kirsty's been uncharacteristically rude' bit was rather clunky, again.

rissabirnie · 03/03/2017 22:09

Oh, that's lovely Bert! The best I can muster is a grey cat called Willow (no ginger called Schnooki)

Imbroglio · 04/03/2017 03:35

I quite enjoyed Jennifer telling Jim about 'her' inspiration for the food.

I wish they hadn't made Miranda so nasty, though. Why would she be like that around Justin's business contacts?

JessieMcJessie · 04/03/2017 12:06

"Eddie's always lived in a post-truth society" - brilliant!

mummytime · 04/03/2017 12:08

We didn't hear Miranda with anyone but Jenny and Brian. And she did help the mayor to the bathroom.
I liked that episode. And I'm so relieved that Tom has gone to Brazil.

GrumpyOldBag · 04/03/2017 12:57

I liked the Mayor getting plastered.

I will now use "must have had some broccoli" as a euphemism ...

But I can't believe someone of Miranda's background would have such appalling manners.

TeenyfTroon · 04/03/2017 12:57

I'm not sure about Lilian. When she first came back as a regular character, her laugh was so frequent and annoying it really got on my nerves. Either I've got used to it, or it's not so overdone, but it doesn't drive me mad anymore. I like her as a character, but really hate this affair story. It's just not nice!

BertrandRussell · 04/03/2017 13:12

"But I can't believe someone of Miranda's background would have such appalling manners"

Do we know what her background is?

And anyway, isn't she just a stereotype posh person? Or what people who have never met a posh person think is posh?

IAmNotAUserNumber · 04/03/2017 15:11

"I have suspected for a while that DH is having a relationship with his PA. I can't put my finger on anything yet, but a few things have happened. She is the SIL of a close business associate of DH and last night we were all at a party together thrown by the business associate and his wife. His wife is married to DH's PA. The signs from DH and PA were obvious all night - although they thought they were doing a good job of hiding it, I saw enough to make me realise they are intimately involved. I'm also pretty sure OW's sister knows and I couldn't help but be rather snippy with her - not nice of me at all but she kept going on about the party food, while i was worrying about DH and OW and frankly feeling rather humiliated, so made a comment about only having pies to choose from. It was a rubbish party anyway, they had invited some drunken woman and I was the only one bothering to help her, while OW and her sister swanned around, and now DH (I haven't confronted him yet) tells me I was rude. WIBU?"
Is this why Miranda's manners were less than impeccable?

TheAntiBoop · 04/03/2017 15:22

Isn't the implication that she is 'trophy wife'? If so, she will have been utterly charming to those she needed to be

Agree that she will know Jenny and Brian know so why try and be friends

So what happened to the mayor

Eastpoint · 04/03/2017 16:06

Puts on warm coat & goes & sits next to @BertrandRussell under banner.

mummytime · 04/03/2017 16:07

Love the AIBU
Yes YWBU but it is very understandable in the circumstances.

Miranda started off sounding like a trophy wife, but has become one married for reasons (class and money) in the past, and I would guess still with a lot of power. Maybe part of a business family Justin doesn't want to cross (maybe all major backers?).

LillianGish · 04/03/2017 16:24

We don't know enough about Miranda and what we do know is not consistent. She was first mentioned when Justin was buying Brookfield and entirely remodelling it so they could move to Borsetshire and Miranda could ride her horses. When that all fell through she became a towny who didn't want to be in the country at all leaving Justin to his own devices to rent his own place to be entirely furnished by Lillian. When she eventually appeared on the scene she was depicted as a harridan out of the same stable as Hazel Woolley - impossible to see what anyone would see in her let alone Justin. It's not a convincing relationship in the way of Brian and Jenny and his affair with Siobhan or Adam and Ian and his fling with Charlie or Emma and William and her affair with Ed or even Lillian and Matt and her affair with Paul. I don't feel as though I'm on anyone's side - can't see what either of them sees in Justin, Miranda comes across as being pretty objectionable and I don't believe that Lillian would stand for any of it. That's what makes it a tedious storyline.

LillianGish · 04/03/2017 16:28

I don't see her as a trophy wife at all - she sounds more of a Marjory Antrobus (who incidentally I LOVED) than a Sabrina Thwaite.

Megatherium · 04/03/2017 17:01

I don't think it's going to happen because Miranda is such a caricature, but I would love it if she sat down with Lillian and pointed out just how much hurt and damage her behaviour causes to a woman who, after all, has never done Lillian any harm whatsoever.

TheAntiBoop · 04/03/2017 17:07

They don't seem to know what to do with Miranda - agree they are trying to make her the stereotypical posh snob but it's all too false

Hopefully there will be a swift denouement as she must be way beyond suspicious

cheminotte · 04/03/2017 17:10

Not stalking honest DDD . Had just read a thread where others were considering it and I thought of you. 75,000 is impressive.
Will there be a party when we get to 100,000?

R4 · 04/03/2017 19:36

I was thinking about Anti's point earlier about Miranda not being friends with Brine and JD, which got me thinking about who she would be friends with. I couldn't think of anyone until it occurred to me: Yvette!
I would quite like the wronged wives to get together to wreak revenge on Lillian.
