Not exactly upbeat at the moment is it Sad

OP posts:
TheAntiBoop · 18/02/2017 22:19

The way they are portraying her is inconsistent. I would expect her to insist on some level of staff in ambridge.

Although I am unsure exactly how wealthy they are supposed to be as I think Justin is inconsistent as well

TheAntiBoop · 18/02/2017 22:20

Small world R4!

Is there another thread where all you attendees are discussing what went on?

AuldHeathen · 18/02/2017 22:30

. On the coach I sat next to a man who could have been DDD. You weren't there, were you? He did something with numbers, work wise, had at least one son, lived in the Home Counties - so roughly where I guess DDD resides. Strange old world.Smile

Next year will be London again, one day only, then Manchester in 2 years. I think my dh would like it. If we can find the dosh, and depending what the boys are doing then, maybe we can both go next time.

CeciledeVolanges · 18/02/2017 22:39

I had the immense privilege of meeting four MNers! Such a brilliant day, I'm currently having a bit of a come-down as I walk the last few bits home but well worth it.

R4 · 18/02/2017 22:39

Not that I know of, BOOP. I guess we are all still going through decompression. Or still travelling home.

TheAntiBoop · 18/02/2017 22:41

It would be interesting to hear what you all learnt etc! If it's in London next year I might try and come along!

R4 · 18/02/2017 22:58

I can tell you about blood spatters, the use of lemon drizzle and Lakey Hill to combat type II diabetes, culverts, who has the biggest willy in Ambridge, the detail of the musical soundtrack to CustardGate and much more. Look out for the YouTubes!

ErrolTheDragon · 18/02/2017 22:58

R4- wow, The Ambridge Observer is great! It just occurred to me that Borsetshire, mysteriously between Worcestershire and Warwickshire is like Sirius Black's house.

Manchester in two years time? Hmmmmm....

AuldHeathen · 18/02/2017 23:34

Yes, and it is spatters not splatters. Who knew? I'd forgotten about the Ambridge Observer woman (was telling my Lincoln-resident niece earlier). She also wanted to know about flood management- and I hadn't made many notes on that. But one of the speakers was from Glasgow!

Was the consensus that Rob had the smallest knob? As he is clearly needing to compensate. We all got sent a questionnaire to fill in a bit before the conf. So the figures were alll worked out - lots of lovely charts. I seem to have forgotten lots already. Need to get to sleep, train to catch in morning.

R4 · 18/02/2017 23:48

Was the consensus that Rob had the smallest knob?

Titchyknob by name, titchyknob by nature.Wink
Actually, I must have been in the minority in the survey: I thought that he had a big one. I thought that his performance in bed was a large part of his appeal to Jess & Helen.

lottiegarbanzo · 18/02/2017 23:51

I thought Borsetshire was Worcestershire. I think that, because that's what Graham Harvey or one of the other TA staff we met on a work visit to Pebble Mill studios in the late '90s told us.

EBearhug · 19/02/2017 00:22

I'm being dense but were her titles shown to everyone at the conference (and some of our posts too? )
There was a slide which had two titles which had particularly amused her, which were up on the screen for everyone to see.

None of our posts at that point, although I think more than one talk did quote from MN posts (also FB groups and so on.) It'LL all be on YouTube soon...

CeciledeVolanges · 19/02/2017 00:23

R4 it's not the size, it's what you do with it :)

Mind you, I'm not actually very qualified to comment on that particular theme.

EBearhug · 19/02/2017 00:25

Borsetshire is Worcestershire - however, a programme which was meant to educate the nation about agricultural stuff, it's not unreasonable for them to have taken ideas and some inspiration from other areas of the UK before transplanting those ideas to Borsetshire, which is where Rippingale comes in. Inspiration, not location.

Gruach · 19/02/2017 00:29

Wow R4 - that is a stupendous coincidence indeed! Have been wondering how you were enjoying yourself. (Envy) Was she aware of this thread. Or on it?

London next year? Bet I'll be somewhere else by then ...

I didn't get round to the live stream. Was Rob actually there or were the Twitter pics fake news?

EBearhug · 19/02/2017 00:34

I agreed with Louise, who was one of the speakers directly after the willy one, that Brian would have a big one, because of all the shagging around, which is why Adam should have been one of the ten.

And yet, in my actual experience, there's not a correlation between size and fidelity, nor size and skill. So it's odd that I am making those links to fictional radio characters, when I know it's rubbish.

When it comes to Rob - I've always been a bit surprised that he seems to be such a hit in bed - I mean, he's not someone you think of as considerate and caring, and then he turns out to be a rapist, but I suppose he can turn on the charm when it suits.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/02/2017 07:50

London next year, you say? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Glad you all had such a good time! It sounds a hoot.

CeciledeVolanges · 19/02/2017 07:57

So, I've cycled to work to clock in for some overtime and I still feel it was worth it :)

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2017 09:20

Ref. Miranda and 'common shops'. She lives in London doesn't she? She'd probably 'slum' it at a Local Waitrose. occasionally, for basics. But would no doubt patronise Rods and or F & M's. Also go to (or order on line) from posh cheese shops in Covent Garden, coffee shop in Soho etc.

mummytime · 19/02/2017 09:31

I've just got up for Breakfast and sightseeing before I go home.
Oddest moment meeting two "colleagues" of my husband and discovering one is on mumsnet; so I'll have to be even nicer about him now. :)
They are going to have most of the talks on YouTube soon. It was really interesting to hear from two producers about the archive - lovely people and one at least also still listens daily!

AuldHeathen · 19/02/2017 09:44

I would expect to see Miranda in Harrod's food hall. Though she probably doesn't do all. Her own shopping.

Re.sizes of male genitalia, the researchers did say there was no evidence for the badly behaved because he's compensating idea. And the correlation between size and certain ethnic groups is wrong. Has origins in the slave trade, so just racist. Ooh, Tom Hollander is on the TV.

TheAntiBoop · 19/02/2017 09:50

I imagine that Miranda has a cook and housekeeper so doesn't do any of her own shopping

picklemepopcorn · 19/02/2017 09:50

I think Miranda is going to become more sympathetic, and people will have to rethink their acceptance of Justin and Lillian. I think Lillian is going to like Miranda and have a terrible dilemma!

picklemepopcorn · 19/02/2017 09:53

And I don't think Miranda cooks and eats like ordinary plebs!
I think she eats out a lot, and has deli meals the rest of the time- a handful of olives for lunch, half a grapefruit for breakfast, half a slice of rye bread and a sliver of smoked salmon for supper.

Gruach · 19/02/2017 10:22

Oh Lord! First time I've heard the Kirsty episode. It is heartrending. One of those episodes that makes all the listening disappointment worthwhile.
