Rob - dead? No, no, he's, er, resting. He's just pining for the Canadian plains. As Helen is taken into custardy, discuss the Archers here.

That's true D3, I also have been analysing my own behaviour/responses and, whilst not of knob-like proportions(!), there are times where I could (and have) scale(d) back on certain responses. More in the 'your fault' blame category though rather than the 'you can't/shouldn't' type stuff! It's (too) easy to get defensive and blame others - making others feel bad is not^ a good reaction.
Saying that - this has come about through lots of lurking on mumsnet in general, not just listening to TA!

I do love the statistics (mathematician)!

Amnesiac · 05/04/2016 00:39

I'm going back to p6 now to try to catch up!

Mitfordhons · 05/04/2016 00:39

I'm fairly sure the cid officer WA played by Alison Newman who'se a great actress and used to be behind the bar in our local when DH and I first got together. She has fairly recently also been in EE as a police officer, but let's not hold that against her.

FirstVix · 05/04/2016 00:44

fangs4 are you sure that your posts aren't just highlighted for you to show that they're your posts? They're not highlighted for me, but my own are.

ColdTeaAgain · 05/04/2016 00:44

Does anyone know if phone calls to WA are recorded in case they are ever needed as evidence?

I think Helens case looks pretty good, Kirsty will be her top witness. She is very level headed, she will provide a rock solid statement. They have their phone logs to match up with their description of what happened that night.

Police will recognise all the signs of control such as taking her keys, withdrawing from work and family and friends. Patbot will feel bloody awful for not realising she was being coerced into helping him.

They will do some digging to see if anyone else noticed anything going on....Fallon? Tom?

The pieces will fall into place. It's all going to be ok....

selsigfach · 05/04/2016 00:54

I know it's not real but I'm lying awake worrying about Helen in her cell.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/04/2016 00:59

aaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhh

I can not believe I missed the fact that shula saw Rob punch the sab... did she actually say that to Caroline?

I hate the way it is turning out. poor writing. actually no, poor story line. the writers may have been told what line to take.

so evidence/witnesses for Helen
kirsty: testify to her planning to leave, that he hit her, and coersive control. and that he had started on Henry. she will be the main witness for the defence. how will they try to discredit her though?
shula: unlikely as she lied to the police
fallon: witness the control in the cafe
emma: also cafe incident?
Phone call to WA could police trace number? as proof that she rang them.
less useful hear-sayish?
tom? he has had concerns and visited helen when rob not around.
what about the incidence in the shop? was shula there then when rob was so dismissive of her?
could they build up a picture of financial abuse. who knew helen had to send the maternity clothes back? the money being paid into one account?

can they build a picture of coersive control with her not being allowed out much?

enochroot · 05/04/2016 01:20

I'm barely keeping up but thanks for keeping the new threads coming, Pseudo.
Happy Birthday.

trufflehunterthebadger · 05/04/2016 01:41

Can Helen be charged with anything or does Rob make that decision when he recovers

"pressing charges" is a fallacy. you dont decide, as a victim of crime, whether the offender will be charged. The police & CPS make that decision although the ultimate decision is down to cps.

while a victim's feelings are considered we can and very often do proceed regardless of victim feelings. lots of dv victims are summoned to appear in court rather than just attending of their own free will.

vixsatis · 05/04/2016 03:28

Awake worrying about Henry and the baby. It'll take ages for this to come to court and even if Helen gets bail she'll be thought too unstable to look after Henry.

it was awful hearing how worried Pat and Tony and Peggy were about Rob

GigotdAgneau · 05/04/2016 05:36

Happy Birthday, Pseudo CakeFlowers[bubbles] and thank you for another excellent thread title!
I lied and I did listen last night. But it was for the last time (again). I'm too annoyed by the sensationalism. I will be so glad to see the back of SOC, though, as with the Beetle, feel that I must be careful what I wish for, as there could be worse yet to come in the shape of another new editor. Shock

NelsonsWineBar · 05/04/2016 06:15

I must admit I was so incensed at the stabbing SL that I hid the last thread. Mea culpa.

To add insult to thingummy, I seem to have lost my Ambridge map. It gets worse. My daughter was doing the Archers jigsaw which is a map, she's "re-arranging" her room and it is gorn into the hole in time and space that reigns there.

Was Kirsty present when the police turned up? Did she say anything? Can't bring myself to listen.

NelsonsWineBar · 05/04/2016 06:19

Forgot: Happy Birthday Pseudo Flowers

Have a tab open for you in the bar. (Ignore Shane, he's in one of his moods.)

PseudoBadger · 05/04/2016 06:43

Thanks for the birthday wishes Cake

Thus we have Pat Bot and residents of Ambridge who always used to be ready for a gossip never commenting on Knob's obnoxious rudeness etc

I was thinking, we often get told off for using the BBC (or other) character nicknames as people don't understand them. But that's because they no longer make any sense.
Radio never gossips, which is a great loss. We should be hearing this story through her mouth.
The Dopeys, well yes they are, but they also were callously used as instruments in several massive plots and lost all their characterisation.

Anyone else care to share character names that no longer make sense I'm off to make a coffee

Givemecoffeeplease · 05/04/2016 07:06

Are the Dopeys the Grundys?

PseudoBadger · 05/04/2016 07:07

No Ruth and David.

PseudoBadger · 05/04/2016 07:07

Radio is Susan.

Happy Birthday Pseudo Cake

On old Beeb threads Helen was known as The Thin Controller ...

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/04/2016 07:17

Happy Birthday Pseudo.

Am staying with family tonight - they don't listen to the archers. How rude would it be to slope off to my car and listen in peace at 7pm? Will there be an AIBU thread about me?

I am not sleeping brilliantly at the moment and keep waking up obsessing over this story.

I also agree the village and the archers will support Helen. Ian will come through for her and Adam who will hopefully speak to Charlie.

AugustaFinkNottle · 05/04/2016 07:25

selsig, I wouldn't worry about Helen in a cell: she's probably been shunted off to hospital under guard as a precaution.

ArgyMargy · 05/04/2016 07:37

Happy Birthday Pseudo ThanksCakeWine

Finding it hard to keep up with the threads at the moment. Wanted to give a BOOP point for Hellin's acting skills. Also support for 3D stats - naysayers can go jump in the Am.

Imbroglio · 05/04/2016 07:49

Wow these threads are moving so fast!

I can't wait for everyone who always said Rob was wonderful to come forward with how they always knew he was a wrong 'un Susan will be the loudest voice of all

LooseAtTheSeams · 05/04/2016 07:57

Cake Happy birthday pseudobadger!
Most of Rob's previous evil deeds are unlikely to come back to haunt him but as pp have said, the hunt saboteur incident showed him being actually violent. Please, please let Shula have to confess her perjury! Perhaps the hunt saboteur will hear of the case and offer to be witness for the defence, thus forcing her to do the right thing?

bakeoffcake · 05/04/2016 07:58

I was lying awake last night thinking about Louisa, this story line must have been pretty traumatic to do over the last few months. Her acting last night was incredible.
She deserves a medalFlowers

AugustaFinkNottle · 05/04/2016 07:58

It would be good if Myles or maybe Bruce turns up and announces that Knob has form for abuse going back before Jess.
