Rob - dead? No, no, he's, er, resting. He's just pining for the Canadian plains. As Helen is taken into custardy, discuss the Archers here.

yy. They mentioned most of the blood loss was from the lacerations on the wrist. I'm hoping he was trying to make it worse for himself and just went a bit too far.

But then they also said the person who did it knew what they were doing.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 04/04/2016 23:23

She was also the lesbian police officer love interest in Lip Service.

But don't tell Peggoi that! She won't approve of Lesbians in Ambridge.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 04/04/2016 23:24

That's fantastic news Bore - is there a link?

DadDadDad · 04/04/2016 23:28

Anyway, thanks for all the words of appreciation this evening. Funnily enough, this is the only time I have felt even vaguely indulged with the kind comments. Obviously, I'll need you to stop ruffling my hair, so I'd better put on this hat - limelight, your idea!

Just refresh the page to see the total go up Smile

Vango · 04/04/2016 23:43

The female police officer is Alison Newman. (Still too 'new' to work out how to do links, or even what to link to, but you'll find her!)

Vango · 04/04/2016 23:46

Moved from Walford to the countryside. Obvs.

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/04/2016 23:51

But is Alison Newman Detectve Hardface or the other polce officer?

It shows you how to do links down below where you type your message. It's v easy

FirstVix · 04/04/2016 23:51

So, whilst also being annoyed at the climax to the SL I also started thinking..

Many, many people over various places have said that women/men on the receiving end of EA could now be realising that it isn't normal behaviour and they are starting to think about their relationship in a whole new light.

So, I wondered; as many people have said that people like Knob don't have a plan per say but just react/manipulate etc, are there listeners out there who are starting to recognise their own behaviour too, and that it is wrong? Or are they thinking that the things Rob's doing are sensible and wondering why there's a big fuss about it (if they follow media stuff)?

I mean, if this can stem from dysfunctional relationships being observed in childhood etc, is it possible that there are also abusers out there rethinking the way they treat other people and realising that they need to change?

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/04/2016 23:52

Oh. have a couple of these 'i'

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 04/04/2016 23:52

Ooh yes, so it is Vango. Well done you! I got that totally wrong .I remember Alison in Footballer's Wives. Bit posher in Ambridge innit Grin

Well if she's ever off sick they could get Heather to cover her.

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/04/2016 23:54

is it possible that there are also abusers out there rethinking the way they treat other people and realising that they need to change?

I really hope so FirstVix

Vango · 04/04/2016 23:57

She's Joanne Madeley, the second female police officer to speak ("so is this the wife? so can you bring me up to speed?") I don't want to call her a mean name Sad

I'm having to cut back on sleep in order to keep up with these threads ...

Happy birthday, Pseudo! Flowers

Putthetulipsthere · 05/04/2016 00:05

I'm only half way through threads I last looked at about 4 hours ago. So commenting on something posted up thread by CUP

In fact it's quite the style of these threads for posters to muse and pontificate into thin air without acknowledgement from anyone else on the thread

YY it is part of the charm of these threads

D3 please keep doing the stats- why wouldn't anyone find them interesting??

I am certainly posting more because I am pissed off with what SOC has done to TA. He has well and truly turned a drama into a soap by making it plot rather than character driven. Thus we have Pat Bot and residents of Ambridge who always used to be ready for a gossip never commenting on Knob's obnoxious rudeness etc (with the noticeable exception of Carole, but will anything actually come of that??)

DadDadDad · 05/04/2016 00:09

FirstVix - that's an interesting thought. I also worry that there might be some who might get ideas of how to get what they want from Rob's behaviour, or might do a things they might not have before thinking "well I'm not as bad as Rob, so I can probably get away with this."

Personally, the story (but also MN in general) has made me more aware of how I relate to others, particularly in the home. Don't we all find it easy sometimes to put ourselves in the best light, and (especially when we are tired or preoccupied or grumpy) to think that we are in the right and others (even others who we love and love us) are the ones acting selfishly? I'm not talking about Rob-like extremes of behaviour where we deliberately manipulate the truth and twist things to our advantage, just those small things where we (or at least I) need to keep working at healthy communication (eg meaning what you say without some subtext, not making assumptions about the other person). By that measure, full marks to TA.

ColdTeaAgain · 05/04/2016 00:17

Happy Birthday pseudo Cake Wine

Here's to another 50,000 posts. These threads are a haven of TA geekiness Grin

DadDadDad · 05/04/2016 00:25

Yes, how long until we reach the 100,000th post? I would have given it a year or two, but given recent experience, we'll probably get there next month.ShockGrin

Anyway, talking of things arriving sooner than expected, who thinks Helen will give birth this week? I have a feeling that's the way they'll go just because we obviously haven't had enough drama this week. Statistic Wink: she reaches 34 weeks this week.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 05/04/2016 00:29

With the support and advice from WA I expected better.

Sorry so far upthread I lost track of posters name before getting to end of thread.
Sorry.

But. Yes. I think WA expected better too from their comments on Woman's hour.

I like a D3 coming here and spreadshitting and making bottom line jokes. It is a good barometer of how TA is doing.
Cake pseudo

And Brew for all new posters. OrWine as required.

From way back upthead. Meant to comment earlier 51 sorry about your Aunt. Sad

Amnesiac · 05/04/2016 00:35

Hello everyone, just caught up with last two episodes - I usually listen to them before bed but of course they have very much woken me up tonight. My heart was pounding when knob was using that horrible exorcist-y voice with Henwee.

I suppose the good thing about this denouement is that perhaps anyone in a similar situation, who had finally found their anger and didn't want to go without the satisfaction of letting the abuser know that he'd been rumbled, might have a re-think. They might listen again to Kirsty and not antagonise the monster. (I mean Kirsty pretty much advised H to go without announcing it.)

I'm sure all this has been said before unthread (only got to p5 on this one & I really should be asleep). Also it's incredibly clumsily put. That's one whacking big ol' sentence up there. I should probably stick to lurking.

Thought Louise Patikas was fabulous beautifully done. I have felt shocked like that before and it brought it all back, she deserves an award. The sobbing was heart-rendering.

Poor Henwee. He needs to look to Charlize Theron and what a success ages made of her life. Wink

Amnesiac · 05/04/2016 00:37

She has

Fangs4themammaries · 05/04/2016 00:38

It took me a while to recognise Knob's behaviour as controlling, - he just seemed very confident, if a bit overbearing like many men I've encountered. On another point - obviously Ambridge people don't listen to The Archers, but it seems odd that events in the real outside world don't enter their awareness, apart from agricultural thingies (Ruth's stay in NZ) or things that affect them personally (Daniel graduating from Sandhurst, Phoebe's offer from Oxford). Is it the same in other soaps? Perhaps it could get too political otherwise?

PS I don't know why my posts are highlighted, honest Blush.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 05/04/2016 00:38

51 I also wondered if your Aunt might have grounds for appeal because of the conduct of her counsel leading to her not getting a fair trial (inadequate representation) (seeing as she cannot site fresh evidence). Although I do understand that is a difficult appeal to get heard.

It must be very frustrating and upsetting.
