Helen knows she's not cracking up - Knob is an eggomaniac.

Are we eggshausted with this storyline?

Another lurker, who can't bear to listen at the mo, so following this thread. I've just caught up on the last 2 days listening. Horrible thought - Rob has actually taken Henry to Pat and Tony's hasn't he? Helen did go out to the car to sayy goodbye to him, so Arsula hasn't whisked Henry away to "give Helen a break" has she . . .?? Please do reassure me!!

EBearhug · 26/03/2016 23:24

I think I've just seen a shepherd's hut. Like a small, dull traditional Roma caravan?

Basically.

Yer modern posh one, like Lynda thinks she's getting is like this.

What she will be actually be getting is more of the traditional style, as in proper agricultural, and not at all posh. Except for the pasting table bed, obviously.

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/03/2016 23:25

So, when are we having the burning of the Wicker Knob on Lakey Hill then? Grin

redshoeblueshoe · 26/03/2016 23:33

Funny you should mention that Bore - the Wicker Man is on ITV4 now Grin

EBear great links

GoodFreyedaySusie · 27/03/2016 00:01

definitely not looking forward to tomorrows episode. i still have to catch up on last sunday and monday.

trufflehunterthebadger · 27/03/2016 04:46

*Rob would find it tricky to weasel his way out of the ambulance crew (would they have to call the police?) breaking into the house to get to Helen.

to answer your police question, no. ambulance can force entry if they are concerned. we are only required if there is a danger to the crew (eg suicidal person with blades, threats to ambulance crew, previous violence) or there are suspicious circustances.

"woman in labour can't let us in" would not get a police response, we'd tell them to force entry themselves

trufflehunterthebadger · 27/03/2016 04:55

if the SWs are going for a realistic SL then Helen will ring 999 one night while Rob is attacking her. he will be arrested, she will give a statement then retract it 3 days later and say she exaggerated or will no longer support a prosecution. with no other witnesses the case can go no further and rob comes back home. things are lovely for a couple of weeks then the process begins again.

IME this will happen several times before she finally makes a break - if, of course, she ever does.

part of me wants this to be what will happen because this is reality. otoh i want her to shove his head through tom's sossidge grinder while dancing a jig

EmilyDickinson · 27/03/2016 08:26

Thanks for the police information trufflehunter that's really interesting.

I hope that the scriptwriters go with the more realistic scenario you describe, though it will make tough listening.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 27/03/2016 09:29

I definitely don't think Rob is the type to go of she asks him to leave.

mummytime · 27/03/2016 09:42

I'm not sure if it was explicitly shown on air or if I just implied it, but I suspect Rob went off Adoption when he knew he'd have to be investigated by social workers. And of course his ex is a social worker, in that area.

Boomingmarvellous · 27/03/2016 09:51

Knob won't go if she asks. Definitely not being told what to do by an inferior being. Men like him think they are superior to their women and they should know their place.

I'm not sure if knob realises he has pushed the agenda too far too fast and rapidly turns on the waterworks and becomes the knob she fell in love with and sweet talks her into thinking he has change that old chestnut
Or
Is so incensed by her defiance he hits her and brings on early labour.

Hellin is a sucker for the former but faced with an overbearing, verbally aggressive man who clearly can't pull the wool over her eyes with some ridiculous 'its for your own good' excuse (like taking the keys) the feminist in her resurgans Grin

Imbroglio · 27/03/2016 10:11

Helen has somewhere to go - Bridge Farm - unlike so many women in her situation - but the question is whether she will be able to tell her family why and to make sure they keep Rob away.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/03/2016 10:30

So what would Knob's position be legally with regards to Henry if they split. Though of course he'll always have SOK to manipulate Helen with. Forever.

Joskar · 27/03/2016 10:31

Going out for Easter lunch to fil's today. Must definitely be home in time to listen.

Gherkinsmummy · 27/03/2016 10:40

Listening to the film. Peculiar remarks from Elizabeth about commenting on a typeface. Surely she approves Lower Loxley's marketing?

KingscoteStaff · 27/03/2016 11:12

Mmmmm, Century Gothic. My fave.

Gherkinsmummy · 27/03/2016 11:24

Rob has created such a tangled web of lies I don't see how it can't start to unravel. He contradicts himself and no one questions it! I hope Helen takes to her bed for the remainder of her pregnancy and forced him to wait on her hand and foot.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 27/03/2016 11:26

Afaik if they dplit Helen is RP but Rob still has the right to atop.her changing Henry's school, refuse medical treatment and he can stop her taking H abroad even for a holiday and from moving out of the area.

Basically he can interfere a lot and make life difficult.

Henry also has right to contact with Rob.

PR is difficult to remove. You used to be able to get a Residency Order that e.g. allowed you to go on hoiday without written permission - v useful when NRP.disappears asthry quite often do.

At the moment I am.in position of requiring written permission for holidays or risk being stopped at passport control on suspicion of child abduction.

pollycazalet · 27/03/2016 11:26

I think Rob will be violent to Henry now and that will be the final straw for Helen. And it sounds like Peggy - who had an abusive marriage herself - is about to get involved. I don't understand why she's not been in it earlier - it would be perfectly in character for her to be concerned that Rob hasn't got a 'proper job' to support his family.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 27/03/2016 11:27

He can also turn up.at parents evening and he can e.g. pick Henry up.from achool and reguse to return him at which point Hellon would have to get a court order to get him back.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 27/03/2016 11:28

^^ above all.asses there isn't an order in place to keep him away from her and Henry (not that easy to get)

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/03/2016 11:33

Interview with Rob actor in DM

debska · 27/03/2016 11:46

Long time lurker. For the last few months have been keeping up by reading these threads as can't bear to listen without knowing what rob has done in advance. I hope the end is near for this storyline so I can get my fix live from now on . It's been painful going but brilliant for raising awareness.

Boomingmarvellous · 27/03/2016 12:02

Yes to raising awareness. This should be condensed and played to 14 year olds so that girls in particular can see what is normal and what isn't in a relationship.

I can't see knob getting violent with Henry as he is such a compliant child most of the time, but he would if he showed defiance. Of course he would call it loving chastisement.

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 27/03/2016 12:10

Helen won't run to BF. Rob has done an excellent job of making Helen think that Pat & Tony agree with everything he says. Every encounter we have heard between H and P confirms this. Also she will be too ashamed/stubborn/embarrassed to go to her parents.

She is much more likely to go to Kirsty's. K believes H -H knows this even when she doesn't want to believe it herself. If she goes to K, Roy will be there, see a distraught H and contact Tom. T doesn't like Rob and knows Helen hasn't been herself for sometime.

This will lead to R being fed to the pigs

I can see R being a recurring character for years to come. So H will never be at ease again.

Peggy has been under Robs spell - I can't see her helping H out until Robs abuse is uncovered.
