Helen knows she's not cracking up - Knob is an eggomaniac.

Are we eggshausted with this storyline?

Rob was there as well. He didn't speak, but Helen said he was with Henry during the piglet stroking. So presumably he drove the 3 of them.

Pumble · 28/03/2016 20:08

Thank you-how did I miss that? Blush

Fink · 28/03/2016 20:10

It was just a one-liner. Helen said Henry was 'over there with his dad and Johnny.' Even I wasn't sure if she said 'his dad' or just 'Dad', but the next line was about Tony covering the shop so it must have been Rob.

Can't believe I'm place-marking on page 14.
Thanks
For the new thread Pseudo
For the klaxon
For the plots for those of us too scared to listen.
Congrats on 50th thread - I manage to post at least once on most of them!

Assume

Has already been linked to on the last thread?

EBearhug · 28/03/2016 20:16

Doesn't KLAXON also get to used to attract sporners?

Yes.

Let's hope that Ursula is allowed to disappear from whence she came Bertrand. It was nice not to have a Rob/Helen episode tonight. I find it very stressful listening!

Momto4plus3 · 28/03/2016 20:25

ShalliShanti - I was - briefly - in a verry unhealthy relationship with shades of the same shit going on - but I got out within the year, and regarded that partner as a psychotic jerk... I really have never met anyone like him - so smarmy and manipulative. Can't I go on pretending that Knobs like him don't really exist? I like my rose tinted specs!

On another topic - what is with Pip and the whining, and then elation -> is she bi-polar?

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 28/03/2016 20:35

Grinat Klaxon being used so the squeamish can avoid it. It's the starter gun for the pathologically ghoulishWink

But the opposite on TA thread.

MargieBargie · 28/03/2016 20:42

I don't think any abusers have a 'grand plan' as such, it's just about control, and being the man. Rob, like all abusers and bullies is pathetic and inadequate ; the only way for him to feel powerful is to be in charge and have power over those smaller and weaker than him.

I've said this before; I have no issue with a back story of abuse from his mother or indeed both parents. It doesn't exonerate him, it doesn't make Ursula the evil one and Rob innocent. We know there are cycles of abuse, it's just a fact. It doesn't change the fact that Rob is an abuser; controlling, manipulative, lying, gaslighting, dangerous.

Hoping it won't be long before Helen makes a break for it and enlists Kirsty to help her and Henry get out. And then Rob needs to be arrested and eventually prosecuted, exposed to the whole of Ambridge as the massive pathetic saddo loser he really is.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 28/03/2016 20:42

My recollection of salmongate was that Rob was horrid to Jess right up until everyone arrived and horrid again as soon as they left. Shouty and unpleasant and clearly abusive. v recognisable from my ex who used to bracket all social occasions with a vile charming vile sandwich

He had also been abusive to Helen in the shop at this point and at the Bonfire. So they obvs had it planned before Jess spoke to H.

I also remember thinking another angry abusive FW. So soon after Paul. They must be really keen to do an EA sl. (Never understood why the bumped off Paul)

Remember right up until she rocked up at BHC Jess had no idea about Hellin.
I thought her warning implied the main issue with Rob was infidelity but it was also clear he was a total barsteward. She did imply that he was a hard habit to break (good in bed).

Gruach · 28/03/2016 20:43

That's what confused me!

Oh, on another note - magnificatAnimaMea - your posts yesterday really caught my attention. Haven't heard the word "subnormal" since I was about six years old - whole other world. It used to be used so cruelly to condemn unwelcome groups of people - especially children new to the UK.

Gruach · 28/03/2016 20:46

(Sorry - klaxon confusion!)

MrsWembley · 28/03/2016 20:48

Thanks, EBear, thought I might have been imagining it.Grin

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 28/03/2016 20:50

And yy to all pps who said he's not machiavellian.

My ex just had to win. He didn't really have a plan. He would lie cheat move goalposts shout argue browbeat as long as he won.
It was rs as war. It was fucking exhausting. He was paranoid, insecure, convinced he was hard done to and that everyone was out to get him. Any conflict had to be escalated to ridiculous extremes to ensure you didn't cross him again.

Rob is like this too:
Has to win at cricket
Has to get a baby when he wants
Has to get the shop the way he wants.
Has to beat the sab.
Had to win the race against the gay man.

He is not a team player.

He doesn't even think through the consequences (culvert) until afterwards.

Win at all costs.

He will be mystified when Hellin leaves him.

My ex to this day does not know he is abusive.

AugustaFinkNottle · 28/03/2016 21:02

Was there something about a Grundy child giving his mother an unexpectedly extravagant present? Is he following in Great Uncle Alf's footsteps, or is he going to be unjustly accused of the Lent Collection theft?

SliceOfLime · 28/03/2016 21:13

MrsWembley - or indeed anyone - what's a sporner?

EBearhug · 28/03/2016 21:24

A sporner is someone who likes pus-porn, i.e. a good video of someone squeezing a zit or lancing an abscess. There are about a million videos on this subject on Youtube. And here is an example of a recent thread.

LowDudgeon · 28/03/2016 21:25

I think sporn = spot porn?

To do with graphic squeezing of hideous pustules of various kinds. There are clips on YouTube I believe

EBearhug · 28/03/2016 21:27

Was there something about a Grundy child giving his mother an unexpectedly extravagant present?

George saved up his pocket money to give Emma a Belgian chocolate egg. George was very admiring of Alf's former career as a burglar, and presumably he was in church at Nic's storytelling thing for children while Clarrie and Alf sat through the Good Friday service.

MyDeskYourDesk · 28/03/2016 21:28

Hi have I missed something, I thought someone said there's Rob but where's Helen at the pageant?

EBearhug · 28/03/2016 21:40

Clarrie commented on Rob and Helen not being there. Helen was never going to be there, as it wasn't at all possible for her to sit on a wooden seat in a draughty village hall for more than 5 minutes in her condition. And since Ursula went home, there was no need for Rob to impress on her how much he and Henry are part of the community by taking her there (as was originally planned.) There's no way he'd go to support a village event for its own sake; there would have to be something in it for him. Of course, he may not have been aware both Brian and Justin were in it; he'd have probably considered volunteering himself had he known.

MyDeskYourDesk · 28/03/2016 21:44

No Clarrie said 'Rob's here but I can't see Helen' then went on about how she's suffering with the pregnancy. I'm sure of it. I thought maybe he locked her in the house.

glowfrog · 28/03/2016 22:19

But then I thought I heard Lynda call out to Helen to come meet the special guest? I thought maybe she'd decided to come anyway but I guess she wouldn't have been able to without the car. Must have misheard.
