Helen knows she's not cracking up - Knob is an eggomaniac.

Are we eggshausted with this storyline?

SaffyRosie · 28/03/2016 19:15

And there we go ....

GypsyFl0ss · 28/03/2016 19:16

Ed was awesome.

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/03/2016 19:17

Oh missed it tonight - did Ed beat Rob to a pulp [hopeful]

Gruach · 28/03/2016 19:19

Can't remember if the KLAXON signals good or bad ...

Anyway, there was NO ROB tonight. No Helen either.

SimoneDeBeaver · 28/03/2016 19:20

Argh, missed it (body clock not adjusted)! WOT HAPPENED??

selsigfach · 28/03/2016 19:20

Yes, Justin really isn't the villain he was set up to be when first introduced - not Lillian's type at all!

SimoneDeBeaver · 28/03/2016 19:21

Oh, OK, I'll listen to catch-up.

Gruach, I think the klaxon is good - ie, no Rob.

selsigfach · 28/03/2016 19:21

Village hall opened by sleb (won't spoil it for you). Lent collection has gone missing.

AugustaFinkNottle · 28/03/2016 19:30

Carrie seemed surprised Helen and Rob weren't there. Is that because he's locking her in or otherwise punishing her for daring to defy him?

JeanPadget · 28/03/2016 19:32

Derailing thread here, but although I've listened since around 1982 I had a flounce when the Mustardland boards were closed. This means I missed the episode with the salmon and the fish kettle, to which people refer in hushed, traumatised tones. Would a kind soul please tell me what happened? I gather it was something to do with a party, Jess and Rob being a knob Smile

ColdTeaAgain · 28/03/2016 19:34

Before Ursula went was sent home, Knob had planned on taking her and Henry with Helen being told she wouldn't be up to it. With Ursula gone and Helen showing a bit of defiance I'm guessing he no longer feels he can risk leaving her unsupervised Angry

Did Alf take the money or will he be unfairly accused?

recyclingbag · 28/03/2016 19:36

Jess wanted to host a party to get to know more people in the village. She borrowed a fish kettle from someone.

It was an unmitigated disaster, Helen turned up to deliver some cheese. Rob was grumpy throughout and vile to her afterwards.

I can't remember all the details. I think I've blanked them out.

LowDudgeon · 28/03/2016 19:44

Jennifer encouraged Jess to do dressed salmon & lent her the fish kettle to do it. Rob was thoroughly obnoxious. Helen (& Kirsty) delivered some deli stuff & got roped in to serve it iirc?

It was one of those parties everyone wishes they hadn't bothered going to. Was meant to be Jess properly joining the village. In fact I think she packed up & left next day?

LowDudgeon · 28/03/2016 19:45

(& Kirsty?) I meant to say. Can't remember exactly.

LowDudgeon · 28/03/2016 19:49

Found it on Lowfield - 19th Dec 2013

It's the night of the Titcheners' party and as they prepare for it, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. Jennifer arrives early to help which causes Rob to switch from uncooperative nastiness to full-on smarminess. Through gritted teeth he agrees to try to have a nice evening.
Meanwhile Helen and Kirsty are preparing to deliver the food; they are planning to get away as soon as possible and go for a drink at The Bull.
Already Caroline has noticed that something is amiss with the hosts but is very complimentary about Jess's beautifully dressed salmon - too perfect to touch. On Oliver's behalf she asks if Rob will be joining the hunt; his smarmy response is positive. Jennifer too has sensed the atmosphere and assumes that Jess is under pressure and is in need of help with the food, so when Helen and Kirsty arrive she dragoons them into helping to serve it.
Rob is surprised to be offered a top-up by Helen and he immediately seeks out his wife for a row about it. There is more friction evident when the guests start to leave prematurely and need their coats; Caroline thinks Jess is crying. As they drive away, Kirsty is critical of Rob but Helen points the finger at Jess for the tension in the household.
At the end of the evening, the beautiful salmon has proved as untouchable universally as it was to Caroline earlier. On the way to the freezer Jess manages to drop it; Rob's outburst at this sight sends Jennifer scurrying away. Rob pours himself an extremely large whisky and makes it plain that clearing away from her party is entirely down to Jess.

interesting flashback

Gruach · 28/03/2016 19:49

More detail - probably wrong, possibly invented by me:

By the time Jess moved in to Blossom Hill Rob was involved with Helen and didn't want his wife there. In fact he tried to persuade her that they should move out of Ambtidge. She was having none of that - all bright eyed and bushy tailed, excited about starting a new life there.

She insisted on a housewarming party. And had a bit of a crush on Jenny; in awe of her lifestyle, her marriage (...) her rootedness in the village. She gratefully followed Jenny's recipe for a whole salmon lavishly decorated with stuff. (I forget the name.)

The party was extremely tense; all the guests noticed the bad atmosphere and partly because of that, partly because of the lavishness, no one touched the salmon.

Once everyone had gone a quarrel erupted. As she was carrying the salmon into the kitchen it slipped from her hands and crashed to the floor. She collapsed in tears, Rob turned on his heel and left her weeping.

Gruach · 28/03/2016 19:51

(I really have to learn to tap keys more quickly.Easter Grin )

recyclingbag · 28/03/2016 19:55

Ah yes - of course it was Jenny.

It was a direct comparison to Shula helping Dr Lockupyoursisters with his Christmas house warming

DadDadDad · 28/03/2016 19:58

Remember:
KLAXON=KnobLess Arseula eXcluded On-switch Now
So it's a good sign.

Probably a bit confusing because on Chat isn't it used for medical questions which the squeamish might wish to avoid?

JeanPadget · 28/03/2016 20:01

Ooh, thank you everyone Smile!

I didn't get sucked back in until January 2015, when I was driving long-distance one Sunday morning. It was the NYE omnibus, and I was very puzzled due to new Tom, new Kate, new Pip and Rich having turning into Johnny.

MrsWembley · 28/03/2016 20:01

Doesn't KLAXON also get to used to attract sporners?

Pumble · 28/03/2016 20:02

De-lurking again for another quick question.... Am listening on catch up so on last nights episode.

How did Helen get to Lower Loxley from the shop? If Rob has her car keys now, how did she get there when Tony took over from her at the shop? Or did Rob only take the car keys temporarily?

BertrandRussell · 28/03/2016 20:05

"Delurking to say YES to previous posters and offer my own two pence worth! Rob is a deeply inadequate and unhappy man and if there is a Machiavellian in this picture I suspect Ursula! "

Oh, please not!
