Not long until our thread's 3 year birthday!

Was SOC responsible for the EE story many years ago where a married man had an affair with a woman precisely so he and his wife could eventually kidnap her in order to steal the baby she was about to give birth to? Because I could really do without a similar-ish scenario in Ambridge Just chanced upon Gruach comment a few pages back (while trying to find Words earlier prediction - unsuccessfully, please enlighten) At the time I ignored it as being too fanciful, now it is beginning to look all too prescient. In the back of my mind I also have the BBC audiobook (where SOC irons out all the discrepancies and rewrites history) coming out in the autumn which will need a suitably melodramatic conclusion.

I still want to know what they are doing about money.

And well done Johnny for not following Rob's advice.

recyclingbag · 05/03/2016 10:00

Yes, actually Peggy's £10k won't go far.

But Helen would take more than a shop assistant's wages from the shop - and they must earn rent from the cafe.

And actually they aren't spending any money are they! It's not like she's spending every afternoon in Jojo Maman Bebe.

ppeatfruit · 05/03/2016 10:16

Were we supposed to believe that Henry was asleep on Arse's shoulder? Surely any 5 yr. old would be telling their GP's exactly what happened ref. the bath. Anyway most 5 yr. olds can get into a bath themselves.

Yes we actually HEARD Arse unpacking the 'basics' and we heard Hell complain about them. Other basics can easily be bought in the farmshop. OMG knob's DM IS worse than him. I hope this ends soon Shock

JasperDamerel · 05/03/2016 10:16

Rob's hunting can't come cheap. And he buys Helen expensive jewelry and frumpy dresses.

recyclingbag · 05/03/2016 10:19

Is he racking up massive debts which will be all Helen's fault because she was so fragile he couldn't work etc?

BYOSnowman · 05/03/2016 10:28

Until the shop is making money Helen wouldn't be taking anything but the bare minimum

redshoeblueshoe · 05/03/2016 10:37

The £10k was in august so realistically that will be long gone. I imagine he will be getting in debt, maybe fraudulently. I also thought Knob would probably not put everything through the till. We did speculate that he dropped the adoption so his past wouldn't be investigated.

Imbroglio · 05/03/2016 10:40

they sell stuff elsewhere (veg boxes, other veg I assume, cheese, dairy, sausages, beef etc) and will be taking rent from the tearooms.

redshoeblueshoe · 05/03/2016 10:41

Also - Hellin didn't see Henry open his Christmas presents, and now I guess she won't even see him on Mothers Day Angry Sad

What happened to President Olivia with the Knob sign

Imbroglio · 05/03/2016 10:42

Knob would probably not put everything through the till oo yes - I expect some stock will be 'lost' soon to explain that.

LillianGish · 05/03/2016 10:48

Mother's Day will be all about Arsula.

Imbroglio · 05/03/2016 10:57

Maybe Mother's Day will be the day when everyone finally twigs [hopeful].

Wordsaremything · 05/03/2016 11:07

lillian prediction was when Ursula first came to stay, and lots of people were thinking she was a lovely older lady and I said not. Tried to find it but couldn't. In previous thread I think.

People were understandably annoyed at the seemingly gratuitous ageist/ sexist stereotype of horrid old lady who was responsible go knob's behaviour.

Unfortunately to me it seemed all too believable! There's even something about the way she speaks that's horribly reminiscent. 'Kindness ' masking very skilled manipulation. But thankfully all that was many many years ago.

enochroot · 05/03/2016 11:09

Helen saw the post-Christmas bank statement and commented that they would have been overdrawn if they hadn't had Peggy's money.

As always we are frustrated by the vagueness surrounding BF finances but, if they have any sense the 4 shareholders will be paying themselves a wage at around the level of their tax allowance and taking dividends at a lower rate of tax assuming the business can afford a dividend after all the new investment.

enochroot · 05/03/2016 11:18

What we don't know for sure is whether the shop is a joint venture under the Bridge Farm name or whether the shop is a separate entity with all profits going to Helen. (I say Helen because her name will be on the documentation, not Rob's.)
Also, we don't know what Helen's being paid out of general farm profits. Does she get paid extra for making the cheese, for example? That must be a Bridge Farm Dairy product. Does Tom keep all the sausage profits for himself?

LillianGish · 05/03/2016 11:21

Flowers to you Words - I can't help thinking it would have been more effective here if Arsula had not already been flagged up as a bad 'un by Knob himself - to Helen, Pat and Tony.

And Kirsty and Ian work in the same building! Surely they would have spoken to each other about Helen.

Three months of this to go, I saw rumoured on Twitter yesterday.
