Not long until our thread's 3 year birthday!

More for your delight and delectation:

Writing another batch of #TheArchers scripts. Rather brutal timescale this month. Six episodes in 11 days.

recyclingbag · 04/03/2016 13:23

Isn't Helen joint shareholder in the farm with Tom.

If they divorced Rob would have a claim especially as 'he built the shop singlehandedly' etc.

Unless there are different rules for farms.

MrsArthurShappey · 04/03/2016 13:31

I'm now thinking I don't care how EE it would be, I want him to die. I know they've already done it with Grace, but in a fire I think. That would be a suitably horrible way for him to die. But he can't die being a hero, he has to have fallen from grace first.

Lancelottie · 04/03/2016 13:41

Maybe he could flounce dramatically when Hellin finally tells him to piss off and let her get at an epidural, then fall into the pothole and die of unseasonal exposure.

Ideally, though, I'd like him to die of ignorance, after ignoring someone else's wiser advice on not getting listeria/having the car brakes fixed/standing just behind the cupcake delivery truck. He could do the little incredulous half-laugh, and then perish. Happy sigh...

DadDadDad · 04/03/2016 13:50

Maybe KD could farm out a few episodes to this thread to write...

Boomingmarvellous · 04/03/2016 13:52

There are different rules for farms in the case of inheritance I think. Remember reading about it somewhere. It's to stop farms being cut into small parcels and becoming unviable. I'll have a check. Either way a short lived marriage to Hellin wont secure much in the way of divorce settlement on rob.

enochroot · 04/03/2016 13:58

I suppose whatever is going to happen to Helen in childbirth has already happened in script form.
That's an interesting conundrum about whether Rob could claim a share of the Bridge Farm business. Perhaps if he is proved to be an abuser his claim would be weakened because Helen could cite duress.
I want him to suffer in every conceivable way and for him to slink off penniless and unemployable.

recyclingbag · 04/03/2016 14:01

Maybe Stefan makes a dramatic return and tells everyone in The Bull on Mother's Day that it was Rob that blocked the culverts.

enochroot · 04/03/2016 14:01

....and in handcuffs or a straight jacket. (Straitjacket?)

NotdeadyetBOING · 04/03/2016 14:07

Oh yes - PLEASE can Stefan come back and dish the dirt??!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 04/03/2016 14:08

Pothole says vehicle damage to me. So Rob famages farm vehicle blamee Johnny. Johnny damages fv Rob exploits situation or Helen damages vehicle gets caught driving.

BYOSnowman · 04/03/2016 14:08

Rob is sl gold - no way will he die. He will be left to pop in and out

I have had a thought though. They seem keen on repeating sl from the past so how about the death of a much loved oldest child involving farm machinery. Pip anyone?

PseudoBadger · 04/03/2016 14:44

Next thread title, short and simple - "The Archers - Rob Must Die"

Although I did like to use film titles.
Rob Die Hard?
Drop Dead Rob?
Things To Do in Ambridge When Rob's Dead?

OP posts:
AugustaFinkNottle · 04/03/2016 14:45

And if Helen and Tom are directors shouldn't Rob just shut up and do as he's told? It's not his shop.

I think in Pat's head, encouraged by him, he and Helen are one and the same so he has the same decision-making powers as Helen. In his head, of course, Helen is his subordinate, but he's bright enough not to let on. Often if he's having a disagreement with anyone - usually Tom - he starts talking about what "Helen and I" want or what "Helen and I" think, without ever actually consulting her.

PseudoBadger · 04/03/2016 15:04

How could I forget?! Kill Rob: Volume 1 and Kill Rob: Volume 2

OP posts:
SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 04/03/2016 15:05

Indeed. He also frequently says "we both" to Helen or while she is there without consulting her.

He can die and still pop in and out. How many times has Nick Cotton died on EE. Or dirty den- he got 2 deaths. And then there is Phil Archer. And Grace. Gobe but most certainly mot forgotten.

I am not suggesting this as a sl yes pointing out death is no barrier.

I am hoping for lengthy legal proceedings as this is what usually happens in rl. I epuld love to hear Rob's disbelief when he is arrested, when hel gets a restraining order, when he goes for full custody and hets told its contact centre or nothing. Shit for H though as I am sure these processes are not in the least bit pleasant to go through (Flowers for those who have or who are still) ). But it would be the proper cummupence for him to realise not everythimg does go his way and and that you don't own your wife or your children (nor your wifes family business).

I'd like to see him bankrupt himself in legal fees and to rage with impotent fury when his bullying doesn't work on the police, the courts, ss or anyone else who is eise to these pricks.
(I do know it doesn't always work this way but in best case scenario it does and that is the most useful message to put out there)

Gherkinsmummy · 04/03/2016 15:20

This is what I find maddening though. Why doesn't anyone ask Helen? Or have board meetings to which Rob is not invited, except to present the shop's figures.

Gruach · 04/03/2016 15:21

I like Things to do in Ambridge when Rob's dead.

(Eat, drive, work, see family, phone friends, buy clothes, take son to school, have an opinion on own businessHmm.)

Tiny shout for Lancelottie's early, throwaway suggestion ...

Lancelottie · 04/03/2016 16:14

S'OK, Gruach. I shall just have to worm it into every thread as a reminder.

AugustaFinkNottle · 04/03/2016 16:15

The trouble is they assume Helen wants Rob to be involved and don't dare to go against her.

NotdeadyetBOING · 04/03/2016 16:17

Yes to 'things to do in A when R's dead'.

I would add to list: have say in own sex life

enochroot · 04/03/2016 16:29

I remember particularly that Rob once made Helen promise always to support him.
I think there is going to come a time when his back is against the wall and she has power to decide one way or another.

MargieBargie · 04/03/2016 16:31

"Run, Helen, run"?

MargieBargie · 04/03/2016 16:40

Psycho?
