Not long until our thread's 3 year birthday!

OP posts:
redshoeblueshoe · 05/03/2016 00:05

Maybe Keri should put something in SOC's coffee Grin

Gruach · 05/03/2016 00:11

I'm sure the evil couple always wanted Henry gone. Complete waste for unborn SOK's vessel to be expending energy on some other child. And then, once the head-spinning (is that what devil-children do in films?) thing is delivered they'll be able to make use of the fact that Helen has "abandoned" Henry.

It's not quite the Archers I used to know ...

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 05/03/2016 00:56

So the story about Hen and Xanthe is apparently true.

But the bath smells fishy although maybe bad sw. Yes it is possible to forget cold - although thats why you put cold in a childs bath first! But whoever lifts a child into a bath without sticking a hand in first??has anyone on this thread ever? I do it with my own bath ffs even if its just to mix the water so it same temp at both ends which it isn't if,as implied; it has been run with h and c separate.

Also she said "henwee wouldn't get in.helen thought he was just being naughty"
Implies Henwee knew it was too hot. How could he know? And not just say I'm not getting in its too hot. At which point I'd check it. In fact my dc alwaya check themsrlves that it is a temp they like then tell me. He's 5 not 2.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 05/03/2016 00:58

Oh but she did tell a big fat fib about liking the mws and consultant after saying she didn't think much of them toHellin. And wtf is she, the MIL in talking to the consultant???

So again P&T think H is an SEP (someone else's problem)

BYOSnowman · 05/03/2016 07:41

The stories around Henry are always written in a way that suggests he is 2 not 5.

Gherkinsmummy · 05/03/2016 08:03

Isn't Ursula there so Helen can rest? So why the digs about the housekeeping 'fail'? If Helen were my daughter I would be telling Ursula to keep her sticky beak out... I find the whole thing exasperating especially the way pat and tony just agree with her. Perhaps the titcheners are wizards?

bakeoffcake · 05/03/2016 08:10

I too think Henry won't be going home- I expect it's so they can ramp up the abuse of Helen and the SWs won't have to explain where he is.

I'm sure they want rid of Helen too so the can bring up the child together. I'm wondering how they'll do that?!

DadDadDad · 05/03/2016 08:16

You're right, BYOS. I'm trying to imagine a heavily pregnant woman lifting an uncooperative FIVE year old into a bath.

lljkk · 05/03/2016 08:24

Fishy bath true story is probably that Rob is the only one who ran the bath but lied to Hell about how hot it was and argued with Henwy about it. Not even because Rob meant to be horrible, just couldn't be asked to be considerate.

ArgyMargy · 05/03/2016 08:28

I don't have any daughters but if I was in Pat's situation Arsula's comments would really piss me off. Even her voice makes my teeth itch (I've never used that particular MN phrase before). I'd go straight round to see Hellin. Literally straight round. And my Tony equivalent would be comforting Henwee - none of this sending him off to bed shit. Arsula's only been in his life for five minutes FFS!

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 05/03/2016 08:36

Anyone else feel nervous about Tony's comments on how 'last time she didn't get better until she went to the clinic?'

BYOSnowman · 05/03/2016 08:53

My mum would have ripped ursulas head off at the mere suggestion I might have done something wrong! And wrt housework my mum would have left grandkid with my dad and been round cleaning herself.

I know Helen has a history of pushing her parents away but I find pats distance hand wringing really odd (admit I could be projecting my own parents here)

Putthetulipsthere · 05/03/2016 08:53

Argy Margy - If I was in Pat's situation Arsula's comments would really piss me off - so true!!

But then it does seem to be SOC's scriptwriting technique - invent a story & then have other characters aid the SL at the cost of their original character and personality traits. The old Pat would have been very questioning of Arsula's story, and would have gone round to see Helen straightaway. Also the old feminist Pat would never have appreciated posh conservative Arsula in the first place.

And yes redshoe blue shoe please someone put something in SOC's coffee. Who is Keri? ( have missed some earlier posts)

spiker · 05/03/2016 09:01

I find it odd that DadOfKnob has not featured in any way since Arseula turned up. People would talk about him, how he was etc even if he is silent.

Or did I miss something?

BYOSnowman · 05/03/2016 09:04

It's because ursula isn't his mum but his elderly lover who wants a baby....

recyclingbag · 05/03/2016 09:13

Maybe Henry will spill the beans to Pat.

Daddy says nobody likes noisy boys
Daddy says I've got to be obedient for the new baby.
Daddy says Mummy is a liar

Also I took Emma's comments to be that Henry wasn't bullying Xanthe but they just squabbled a lot and it is Ursula who is making out he is being horrible.

Imbroglio · 05/03/2016 09:25

I suspect ursula and rob are encouraging henry to behave in a dominating manner with xanthe, which undermines Helen's conciliatory approach. Remember Helen said he was smirking? I bet she gave him some chocolate as a reward.

I also think xanthe won't take any shit from henry.

LillianGish · 05/03/2016 09:26

seekeveryknownhidingplace my thoughts exactly. I thought that comment was definitely leading up to Helen being packed off somewhere. I think real Pat would have been more challenging of Ursula's assertions - especially that Helen wasn't doing any housework or shopping (she's supposed to be resting, Pat wouldn't think housework was something to worry about and how is supposed to go shopping when she's not allowed to drive?) Why have she and Tony got amnesia about the dinner party - you wouldn't forget something like that.

lljkk · 05/03/2016 09:29

yeah I thought the shopping comment made more sense when the village shop can't have much for "basics". Do they know Hell has no credit card to buy stuff online with?

Imbroglio · 05/03/2016 09:31

I think that conversation was meant to explain why they are reluctant to interfere, and that they still trust rob.

Speak up, tom!

recyclingbag · 05/03/2016 09:35

What happened to her credit card? I missed that.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 05/03/2016 09:40

DadOfKnob has been mentioned twice. Once by name but I've forgotten it.
U pretty much said he does what he is told and second mention was he had agreed been told U was staying till Easter.

lljkk · 05/03/2016 09:41

I could be wrong, maybe not physically removed, but certainly psychologically. Hell has reason to be afraid to buy anything online not personally vetted by Knob first after the Maternity clothes shopping fiasco. She never seems to know where the cheque book is, why would she know where her credit cards are... has her wallet actually been gutted? Seems she's allowed a cash card & some cash. She seems to only have sporadic access to a mobile.

redshoeblueshoe · 05/03/2016 09:42

recycling - that's what I'm thinking. Knob and Arsula have actually made a big mistake here. Henwee could spill the beans. or is that just more wishful thinking
Wordsaremything Flowers I think we want to believe people like Ursula don't exist, because they are so vile- but we actually know people deliberately hurt children every day. I think Ursula would not hesitate to deliberately put Henry in a bath that is too hot.

enochroot · 05/03/2016 09:42

Ambridge must be the only village in the UK which doesn't have supermarket vans delivering.
Failure to nip round the supermarket was a sure sign that the Brookfield household was falling apart a couple of months ago.
