We love Charlie. But we want Adam and Ian to get married. What will happen in Ambridge in the pre-Christmas thread?

Just listened to Friday - we are 2 weeks from Christmas and David didn't even ask whether Ruth will be back by then?

Into the cheese curding trough with him, then Tom and Hellin can feed him to the pigs.

ColdTeaAgain · 14/12/2015 08:51

R4 yep completely forgot! We had no build up to the Knobs big day, it doesn't count Wink

BYOSnowman · 14/12/2015 08:56

But would the pigs be organic? Robs final revenge from beyond the grave would be bridge farm losing its organic status!

Gruach · 14/12/2015 09:06

He has to die.

It's getting rather late for Helen to decide not to deliver SOK.

Best outcome I can see now is Helen, as a widowed mother of two, eternally tied to her delightful, Ambridge dwelling MIL.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 14/12/2015 09:17

Quick delurk to say "bastard, bastard, bastard"

Surely people have seen a glimpse of Robs true colours now.

BYOSnowman · 14/12/2015 09:18

It does seem to be gearing up for a big whodunnit for the 65 anniversary. Watch out on nye rob!

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/12/2015 09:29

I do hope so BYOS

Still hoping the Zombie Scruff, aka Hellhound Of Ambridge, will emerge from the culvert and wreak its revenge on Knob.

Gruach · 14/12/2015 09:34

Oh Lord BYOS. Will that mean another decade of false confessions, wrongful convictions, ducking and diving and hiding of evidence, promises of resolution that lead to ever more incredible twists of story? And an eventual damp squib painfully set up for the 75th anniversary?

Putthetulipsthere · 14/12/2015 09:46

Travelled - I had the same thought about probate and the sheer impossibility of Ruth having access to funds within weeks of her mother' s death. This is just one example of sloppy editing and the use of awkward or unbelievable story lines. I always thought it odd the way Jolene went along with Kenton's idea of the trip to Australia. I know Kenton's a spendthrift, but would Jolene really condone spending large amounts of cash when the money needs to come from a propery sale that hasn't actually happened yet??!? Just hope the SWs take note!

Hadron21 · 14/12/2015 09:53

Does anyone else have a very clear picture of Charlie in their mind? If all the characters he is so real to me!

Brilliant episode. It did make me realise how much Adam has got away with. I think Ian deserves better.

NotdeadyetBOING · 14/12/2015 09:59

BTW, that Archers puzzle is half the price on Amazon (£22 vs. £40 for exactly the same thing).

Putthetulipsthere · 14/12/2015 10:01

Travelled - As you say, there is no way probate could have been granted that quickly. And if you factor in the eye watering cost an open ticket would cost in December, you really have to wonder how she could have paid for it. I think it's just another case of an unrealistic story line or sloppy editing.
The question of money often doesn't ring true recently. I never understood how Jolene went along with Kenton's bright idea of spending large amounts of cash on the trip to Australia before the sale of Brookfield had gone through.

Putthetulipsthere · 14/12/2015 10:02

Sorry posted twice due to intermittent internet connection on train!

LillianGish · 14/12/2015 10:04

Is Ian Jennifer to Adam's Brian? If so he'll put up with a lot.

LillianGish · 14/12/2015 10:07

I'm hoping against hope that they'll be able to get over it, but that it will backfire on Knob who will truly be hoist by his own petard.

R4 · 14/12/2015 10:07

I think that the village has had a tough time of it recently, what with the floods, botulism and depleted soil. I think that they need some sort of ritual - either on twelfth night or on the anniversary of the deluge - involving a sacrifice to restore health and fertility.
Unfortunately, if we are going down the Wicker Man route, the victim should be PC Plot but I'm sure we can come up with a C21 twist to make it Rob instead. If not then Charlie will do (the power of a king at Borchester Land, virginal despite his best efforts and a fool).

Gruach · 14/12/2015 10:18

Is there something I'm missing? Ruth (with her husband) owns a multi million pound property. They run a business that has been successful through three generations. They are in every respect well established. They are usually careful with money - but I don't understand why that might be interpreted as without money. Or access to money.

I can't see a reason why Ruth wouldn't easily be able to buy even a seasonally expensive return ticket and cover her expenses before receiving her mother's money.

Dipankrispaneven · 14/12/2015 10:24

I really don't want Knob to get murdered, it would be so mind-bendingly tedious to go through several months of who did it, wrongful arrests, trials, Free the Ambridge One campaigns, and all the rest of it. I don't even want him to die, I want him good and alive and thoroughly humiliated as each and every one of his chickens come home to roost

R4 · 14/12/2015 10:36

Ah, but in my scenario it is the whole village that kills him. Then goes schtum. End of. Except when SOK asks about his daddy and they mutter about something nasty in the woodshed.

PC Plot won't solve it; has he solved anything yet?

Gruach · 14/12/2015 10:36

The good news is - it's Monday. If the wedding was going to be called off it would be happening on a Thursday.

Fingers crossed.

(Cannot believe I woke up wondering what's going on in Ambridge? )

R4 · 14/12/2015 10:42

Not necessarily good news Gruach. There are three options:
they don't marry
they do marry
they do marry, but shouldn't have. And it unravels horribly.

enochroot · 14/12/2015 10:53

I think Ian did overhear C and A in the shrubbery and he heard Adam turn Charlie down because he valued more what he had with Ian. So far so good.

Rob gave him two shocks. One was that Adam had a fling with Pavel and the other was the idea that everyone in the village knows about it except Ian.

When he said I'm going home. Are you coming? he set a test for Adam. Drag yourself away from that boy and come home to me. If Adam passed the test the wedding's on. If not, then it's off - if he can get over the idea that he's been humiliated.

enochroot · 14/12/2015 11:03

There was a question above about a dead strawberry picker so we need to get our Eastern Europeans sorted out.
Pavel is the gay strawberry picker. Ian turned him down but Adam spent a torrid night with him.
Stefan is/was a Berrow Farm worker who saw Rob block the culvert and told David and Jennifer. They told Charlie who investigated but Rob told him Stefan had gone back to Poland suddenly leaving no contact address.
When C failed to find concrete evidence of the culvert-stuffing he investigated the fertility figures. Rob then threatened to out him which Justin would not have viewed favourably. Charlie had to back off.

Putthetulipsthere · 14/12/2015 11:09

Gruach As far as I remember when Ruth first told David she was going to NZ she said she would be using her mother's money - at least that's what I thought!

BYOSnowman · 14/12/2015 11:19

The Brookfield lot are asset rich but cash poor - I think they make enough to get by but not to have mountains of savings.

Agree that rob being murdered would be dull

Has there ever been a murder in ambridge?
