We love Charlie. But we want Adam and Ian to get married. What will happen in Ambridge in the pre-Christmas thread?

Just listened to Friday - we are 2 weeks from Christmas and David didn't even ask whether Ruth will be back by then?

Rob then threatened to out him which Justin would not have viewed favourably. Charlie had to back off.

That really worked, didn't it: he's ended up being banished to Perthshire anyway.Hmm
He would have done better to call Rob's bluff and come out. He could sue JE for sexual orientation discrimination (if necessary. Do we actually know that JE is anti-gay?)

R4. You're right of course. Charlie should have pursued Rob but I think he's a company man who thought everything depended on Justin's patronage.

He's got nothing to lose now though. I hope he's not going to be written out.

I think staying with partner who cheats is a valid choice of it works for you - which it clearly does for Jenny.

Ian's problem here is that a ons with pawel is one thing, but an ongoing relationship with Charlie is entirely different. From what rob said he has no way of actually knowing that it was just a kiss.

Also, legally this wedding is irrelevant as they are already in a civil partnership. It not going ahead doesn't leave them as single men as they will still need to get 'divorced' (is that the right term for ending a civil partnership?)

Not that I think Ian should stay with Adam as he has definitely been cuckolded here

Hello and thanks for the new thread pseudo!

Sad poor Ian. Although at least he knows Adam is a cheat now.
Hateful hateful Rob.

YY to the ridiculousness of Ruth spending ten trillion pounds on an open return. And to Deeeevid not saying - it's xmas in 2 weeks, you need to say exactly when you will be back, the kids are expecting you etc etc.

Poor Brookfield kids - all they're getting for Xmas are some souvenirs from nz

PC Plot won't solve it; has he solved anything yet?
He's still waiting for the forensics to come back on the missing bunting crime. A victimless crime - which i would count Rob's murder as being - would take a lot longer to investigate and solve.

I am watching the Bridge III and would lie to see Harrison and Saga do a job swap. Saga would make mincemeat of Knob, and Harrison could umm … eat a rollmop herring or two

Stefan had gone back to Poland suddenly leaving no contact address.

Which is suspicious in itself these days. I know way too much about my Eastern European colleagues, because they plaster it all over FB. They do at least seem to have got the message that it's not the right place to discuss work matters... I find it hard to believe any of them could disappear without any trace whatsoever.

Let's also not forget that Ian specifically asked Helen if she thought Adam was having an affair with Charlie. And Helen said no.

So that's two weddings where Helen could have said something to save the bride/groom's humiliation but she chose not to. Pretty sure Rob will remind her of this if she dares to speak out against his behaviour.

And to return to Pseudo's very first post: of COURSE the obvious thing to ask Ruth was "You will be home by Christmas won't you?"

But what do we think's going to happen on Christmas Day, hmm?? Any wild guesses as to who might breeze through the Brookfiled front door??

squeaver Yes, indeed. It's going to be hard for Kirsty to sympathise with Helen if the full story comes out.

I should have taken your advice Gruach!

Totally grim.

I do think Rob is good actor though.

I am enjoying hearing Kirsty's distinctive voice at the moment. That is a very good point about Helen keeping quiet before two weddings, I hadn't thought of that. I am actually feeling sorry for Helen, which is no mean feat considering how awful she is still can't forgive her for being so mean to Hayley about the pigs

I can't believe no-one else found it moving when Charlie declared his love on Friday :(

I know he's a bit of a dick but so is Adam and they're actually quite well matched.

This definitely wouldn't be the second wedding in a row to be called off - the Grundy and Titchyknob weddings have both gone ahead as planned in 2015.

Maybe Ian will call off the wedding, demand some space and fly off to join Ruth in New Zealand.

Rob is an utter fuckweasel.

I think it all hangs on Charlie's sense of honour now. He mentioned honour about the drinking game in a jokey kind of way but I think he's brought it up before.

It's going to be Charlie who pulls Rob down and saves Adam's relationship with Ian.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 14/12/2015 14:52

Charlie & Adam weren't having an affair though - it was just a quick drunken grope in the shrubbery.

Wrong of course, but not serious.

Report
enochroot · 14/12/2015 15:22

No, not an affair. More a flirtation on Adam's part. Charlie declared love but Adam didn't.

When I bang on about Charlie's sense of honour I mean that Charlie will tell the truth to put things right if he knows that Rob is behind a possible break-up of Adam and Ian.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 14/12/2015 15:28

Oh, I was responding to squeaver a few posts back, enoch - I do agree about Charlie's sense of honour (signed-up Charlie fan here Smile)

I like your scenario - I'd love to see Charlie wipe the smug smirk off Rob's smarmy face!

Report
squeaver · 14/12/2015 15:28

I really, really hope so enoch. If Charlie has to go, it has to be in a blaze of glory.

I want him to have a clear-the-air chat with Ian, tell him to love and cherish Adam, send him after Rob and leave with his head held high

Ruth was told that she was named in a life insurance policy. Payment on those goes outside the estate and ofte is made very quickly, it's totally independent of probate. I know this from direct personal experience.
Also, d and R would have at least a couple of credit cards with plenty high enough limit for even a last minute open return ticket to NZ af the festive season- expensive yes, but not prohibitively so.

Though I do agree that it was a glaringly clunky plot device not to have David ask her if she'd be back for Christmas.

asking I enjoyed Charlie's speech on Friday. I quite like that it's been a slow burn. A lot of soaps seem to have gay characters/storylines where, particularly if one man isn't out of the closet, they just eat each other's faces off whenever they meet and it seems quite stereotyped/one-dimensional.

I'm a bit surprised that the Felpersham Farmers would have booked open returns for the New Zealand trip - surely most Felpersham farmers would have needed to get back to work ASAP and be uninterested in extending their stay? I suppose Ruth could have booked separately, but she couldn't rely on being able to get on the same flight as the rest of the group, especially at this time of year.
