Welcome Lurkers. Please stay.

bigbuttons · 28/11/2015 22:08

I mostly lurk, but really love these threads. I haven't been listening consistently for more than a year( I think). The rob/hel SL drew me in really. I think I started properly listening around the time that Lillian's bit on the side, Paul? Got done away with. I remember being irritated by the incessant wailing and how horrible she was to Brenda.

Clarabumps · 28/11/2015 22:22

Another lurker here. waves

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/11/2015 22:29

Come out, come out, wherever you are! Grin

GypsyFl0ss · 28/11/2015 22:33

I need you lot to keep listening and posting so that I don't have to do the former and can glean all I need to know from the latter Grin.

LillianGish · 28/11/2015 22:45

Waves to lurkers. Gruach I agree with every word of your post of 18.39 (even to the point of hoping Pseudo had a good lunch).

goodelfallover · 28/11/2015 22:48

Lurker for several years, waves back.

Firepile · 28/11/2015 23:35

Massive lurker here. Look at this thread several times a week. Hello!

ApplesinmyPocket · 28/11/2015 23:44

I lurk much more than I post but I love these threads and am so glad of all you good people and your insights. Been listening just over a year and still loving TA though I feel I must have missed its golden age from what the oldtimers say!

CheesyWeez · 28/11/2015 23:53

I always read this thread.
The Rob & Helen storyline is making me feel sick with dread. Wake up Pat!
I felt like smashing Rob's stupid face in, rather bizarrely, when Hellin told him Henry was going to the fireworks with Susan, and he replied "Susan Carter?" in that horrible voice - as if there were any other characters called Susan in TA. She works on their farm for goodness sake.

I am also worried about Paul & Lilian's secret flat from ages ago. I think it's still there, untouched, dusty, as no-one knew about it except them.
So glad Kirsty's back though, to save Helen, and to shake Roy out of his despair.

ImperialBlether · 28/11/2015 23:56

Only just realised there are Archers threads here! I missed a few episodes this week - where's Ruth off to? It sounded like she was going off for a gap year but then they said it was for two weeks. And I imagine she's going to have a fling with the tour leader?

Notso · 28/11/2015 23:58

Another long time lurker here. Love reading these threads then reporting back to my Mum.
The Archers and R4 in general was the background to my childhood.

CheesyWeez · 28/11/2015 23:58

I first started listening when Neil proposed to Susan after discovering she was pregnant.

Feel old now. Grin

enochroot · 29/11/2015 00:03

The archivist must have archived. Can't they look things up?

For that matter, could they save a bit on appearance fees for big names and replace the

Oh, wait. They looked up the Fairbrothers and the Tregorrans and look where that got us........

Welcome all ye de-lurkers.

enochroot · 29/11/2015 00:05

That should read 'replace the archivist'. (Just upgraded to Windows 10 and odd things are happening.)

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 29/11/2015 01:39

I had kinda forgotten there was some doubt about Paul's demise and had been remembering it as an untimely heart attack.

And had totally forgotten about the secret flat. Did it not contain artworks as well.

EBearhug · 29/11/2015 02:38

Yes, Paul gave Lillian a painting they'don't seen on some weekend away together. I thought the flat was in his name and his not very pleasant adult children got it. But I might be totally misremembering.

Scarydinosaurs · 29/11/2015 07:07

I can understand Pat's blindness to Rob, as she's so relieved someone is looking after Helen: she objected to Helen giving up work, but at the moment, Helen is working on the shop; Rob has supported the work on the shop, therefore Pat is happy.

JD is ridiculous, and JE surely needs to ask Adam about Charlie?? And why didn't Brine say that Charlie was concerned with Rob's paperwork?? He knew that! And why has Rob's slagging off after Berrow had all that botulism problem not got back to JE?

Clumsy writing at the moment, and it's making me cross.

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 29/11/2015 07:17

I'm a lurker too! Ive been listening for about 5 years and only recently discovered this thread Grin

Gruach · 29/11/2015 08:04

This Soundcloud Shambridge thing is funnier and sharper than anything on TA atm.

(It was retweeted by KD, with whom I'm not terribly pleased right now ...)

LillianGish · 29/11/2015 08:42

GrinGrinGrin I especially love Susan's lines in that.

GruntledOne · 29/11/2015 08:43

I don't remember Paul's children being unpleasant? So far as I remember he was shaping up to being an early version of Knob before the storyline came to a grinding halt.

But yes, I'm now wondering what happened to the painting.

LillianGish · 29/11/2015 08:49

Having stopped laughing and started pondering why that soundcloud is so good, I think it's because it goes right to the heart of who the characters are - something SOC seems incapable of doing. I know they've sacked the archivist, but you wouldn't think they'd need an archivist to remember thing which have happened in the last few months at SOC's behest - all the things listed in scarydinosaurs post for instance.

Jenijena · 29/11/2015 08:57

Another regular lurker. Though not objecting to TA in the background since a teenager, have only been really following the plots for about four years.

Rob is doing my head in. I know it's a 'real' story but it's being done in such a pantomime way I can't bear to listen at the moment... So I'm following the plot here at the moment instead :) thanks everyone!
