Actually, gaspode, you can speak for me, because I agree with you. The only problem is all the new posters are popping in to say they too are getting fed up listening!

LillianGish · 29/11/2015 22:10

toldmywrath Keeling over at Keele Grin (Or dropping off the perch at Birch - though admittedly that's in Lancashire which would really be stretching even without the archivist)

Meeting Death at the Roadchef (located nationwide)?

I'd like to make it clear that while I may lose patience with TA I could never leave this thread - I'd miss everyone too much. Flowers

songbird · 29/11/2015 22:53

Dead in a ditch in Redditch? A little over dramatic perhaps. In other words, perfect the way things are going!

I haven't listened for about two weeks now, as I can bear it no longer. While they were doing the awful slow burn of the Hellrob relationship so brilliantly I could just about bear all the other ridiculous storylines but that's gone stupid as well now. I can't abide what they've done with Pat and Jenny (which I've only heard about thanks to you wonderful lot!) and seriously, WHERE IS TOM?

songbird · 29/11/2015 22:55

Oh, and thanks for the fred, pseudo X

R4 · 29/11/2015 22:57

I hope that they don't kill off Joe. I want him to get to his century and get a telegram from the Queen.
But if Ruth was done away with then my response would be " Frankley, my dear, I don't give a damn."

MeolsCop · 29/11/2015 23:00

Lillian SOTMC at Stafford? (Though M6, so definitely not on the fatal route).

Ought to add that I consider myself essentially a lurker, though I do post occasionally. Usually feel pretty overawed by the wit and wisdom on display here, so I generally slide back into the shadows pronto.

zen1 · 29/11/2015 23:21

I'm a relative newcomer to TA (started listening by accident the night Nigel fell off the roof), though the programme has been part of my life for as long as I can remember (R4 was on all day when I was growing up and the theme tune is ingrained into my psyche). It's taken me 4 years to work out who all the characters are.

TopOfTheCliff · 29/11/2015 23:22

Gone for Good at Michaelwood?

I've been listening since the 1970s when teenage Shula had a crush on Neil. I love this thread. There are People Like Me out there!!

nippiesweetie · 29/11/2015 23:25

I sought out this thread out because I can't take listening to the Helen and Knob stuff any longer. You lot are great. I think I will feel safer lurking here until the denouement is trailed.

I have been listening to TA on on and off for decades and I wonder if anyone else remembers Shula being in an abusive relationship with Caroline's stepson (son of her first Smile rich elderly husband). Has Shula witnessed any of Knob's off behaviour.

nagsandovalballs · 29/11/2015 23:29

It would be funny if it ever turned out in the not too distant future that, as TA declined in listeners due to the departure from its core values, more people were turning to read this thread. It's a shame there isn't a publicised watch list counter that clicks up every time some adds the thread to their watch list...

Travelledtheworld · 29/11/2015 23:34

Had a busy week and just catching up. Astounded to see 6 pages on new thread. Welcome to all you Delurkers !

Shuddering at Robs manipulation of Helen.
It's like that Ibsen play isn't it,The Dolls House ?

Gruach · 29/11/2015 23:39

Simon Pemberton sweetie? He probably comes up in one thread in every two, in the context of violent partners.

Yes, Shula witnessed Rob attacking the hunt sab but lied to Plod about it (after some mild menacing from Rob.)

nippiesweetie · 29/11/2015 23:43

Ah yes. Thank you Gruach.

SuffolkNWhat · 29/11/2015 23:45

Sordid little affairs. Really Knob?

Have you phoned the kettle to call it black yet?

Gruach · 29/11/2015 23:51

Heavens! Don't take anything I say as gospel - quite half of what I think I remember is wrong.Grin

But that's the beauty of the thread, there are always several other people who have listened, remembered, or interpreted better than I may have done.

goodelfallover · 30/11/2015 00:06

goodelfallover · 30/11/2015 00:15

Should've said Sideshow Knob

TheSilveryPussycat · 30/11/2015 01:01

Surely it was teenage Neil who had a crush on Shula?

Btw, my DGM never missed a single episode from day 1 (or so she claimed) to her dying day in the mid sixties. I have now been listening on and off for several times as long as she did - arrgh! There's always been something to irritate, and when I did my CAB training I wondered why the Grundies seemed not to have heard of Family Credit and later Tax Credits. Nigel going almost stopped me but I came back. But it's never been as bad as this.

Have I asked this before, but a long time ago was there some awful sl about Eddie plastering over an alarm clock? or did I dream this?

susimoo · 30/11/2015 02:51

Another lurker here.

I have listened intermittently for about seven years. I only got back into listening regularly in the last two years when I discovered I could get podcasts over here. (Moved to Oz in 2011)

It was when they had all the intrigue with Matt and Lillian and their business dealings abroad. They added another show, I think. I thought it was a regular thing and I had loads to listen to. Disappointed I don't have more Ambridge fun to listen to, to make me feel like I'm back in dear old Blighty.

Now I just listen to the film on a Monday morning when I'm cooking.

I never have anything clever or witty to add hence the lurking. Grin

Joskar · 30/11/2015 06:38

I'm needing to LA because I need to hear all the nasty Rob stuff. Away at my folks' and they are not listeners.

Love the new thread title!

CalpolOnToast · 30/11/2015 07:16

I have listened since George was a baby, which means he's older than I think of him as (is he 12? I think of him as half that). Not listening at the moment though, I had a dream that Rob was coming after me with an axe and I had to kill him before he killed me! I'm just reading this thread until it's safe!

Gruach · 30/11/2015 07:26

But Calpol if you'd carried on with the dream you could have saved Helen and increased the happiness of millions. Grin

80sWaistcoat · 30/11/2015 07:44

Deluding to say I'm following this thread so I don't have to listen. I'm waiting for a plot line that there was an escape of mood altering gas but they are all back to normal now...
