Wishful thinking. I think she's in it for the long haul Sad

OP posts:
BYOSnowman · 20/09/2015 19:14

It's amazing how trusting they are wrt hazel and keepers

Nice little scene with joe and bert

InimitableJeeves · 20/09/2015 21:32

Does anyone else find the way Piggoi speaks to and about Christine quite grating? I always get the feeling that she slightly despises her but is exercising what she no doubt thinks is saintly forbearance.

LillianGish · 21/09/2015 10:14

Sorry but that was too tedious I think Aunty Cardboard's ginger biscuits has to be one of the lamest plots ever - particularly the pay off of Piggoi being given Susan's second prize biscuits by way of apology. More than happy to have the flower and produce set piece, but surely the SWs could have woven in a few strands of another more interesting plot line. Too dull for words.

BYOSnowman · 21/09/2015 10:53

That's the current MO though isn't it - bleed a storyline dry - even the most dull - and tbh, we were lucky to have a pay off (xref list above!)

What pleased me most about last night was the lack of Brookfield archers/fairbrothers and it was nice to have a break from the knobber sl

Gruach · 21/09/2015 11:02

Yes, it was a welcome change of focus (even with the dry as dust biscuits).

And a definite BOOP for Joe being so sweet to Bert.

squeaver · 21/09/2015 11:46

I was hoping for an appearance by Knob at the flower & produce, hoovering up any leftovers and showing H what she could really achieve if she just tried a bit harder in the kitchen.

Yes, undoubtedly, the Grundys will be the sacrifice for the village shop. They should have been onto Usha before now checking on their tenants' rights.

And where's Charlie? I thought we'd have a boardroom showdown by now.

ppeatfruit · 21/09/2015 11:53

Yes Gruach IMO Peggy being given Susan's biscuits was funny because she had had quite enough of them too. So was being paid back for her annoyance with dopey Chris. (though I've never known a cat eat ANY sweet biscuits, a dog yes).

I also liked Joe's chat with Bert about Freda's rose. And that Susan apologised for her big mouth.

florentina1 · 21/09/2015 12:13

Are Peggy and Christine related?

Gruach · 21/09/2015 12:22

Peggy and Christine are sisters in law. Peggy's first husband, Jack Archer, was the elder brother of Phil (deceased DH of Jill) and Christine.

vixsatis · 22/09/2015 07:18

ppeat We have a meringue-loving cat. Also keen on lettuce and curry

InimitableJeeves · 22/09/2015 08:11

FFS, what is all this about Helen being such a delicate flower that a bit of cheesemaking and looking after a school age child would make her lose her memory? Particularly of something like the concept of a livestock corner in a shop, ffs? I do hope I'm right in detecting that Helen wasn't buying it. And of course the reality is that as soon as she's safely pregnant Knob's concerns would all disappear, especially if it meant she felt too lousy to wait on him.

As for that concept of a once a week bonking/rape night - I can't think of anything more gruesome. But I wish she'd have the bottle to confront him about what happened last time they had one of those.

Gruach · 22/09/2015 08:26

Gaslighting and rape.

Misogyny and homophobia

Violence and fraud.

Bad at business and unsportsmanlike.

What a catch.

(Just hope the SWs don't overload him with such attractive traits.)

LillianGish · 22/09/2015 08:50

She's definitely on to him now though isn't she? Doesn't want to spend an evening with him AT ALL. Already feels like she's spending too much time with him in the day. Doesn't want Henry palming off on her parents. Doesn't like the fact that he's taking over the shop. She's not quite sure how to disentangle herself yet and she's being careful because she's not sure what else Knob is capable of - I think she's wishing she hadn't married him and she certainly doesn't want him adopting Henry - she's biding her time now. iT's a complete reversal - now she's managed to talk round all Knob's detractors she realising they may have had a point.

InimitableJeeves · 22/09/2015 09:29

Yes, trying to put her off looking into adoption is highly suspect. You can bet he wants to find out what they will check so he can work out how to cover some of his murkier tracks.

Come on Charlie, pull your finger out, go and find Stefan!

Gruach · 22/09/2015 09:42

I'm wondering if all the Rob episodes involving other people - Jess, Stefan, hunt sab, Plod, Charlie, Jim, etc - were intended merely to illustrate to us that Rob is definitely a wrong'un, while Helen remained in blissful ignorance (or lied to herself.)

So "they" may never have intended to follow up those stories. Now that Helen has seen who she's married to it's possible we'll never hear any resolution to the other stuff. Which would be a shame - but SOC seems quite keen on personal revelation (David, Pip), he just hasnt managed to make it convincing yet.

enochroot · 22/09/2015 09:56

I think the other stuff might still come out but only after Helen has either reached the depths of despair so that she's saved in the nick of time, or she's LTB.
(I think he's going to try to have her sectioned if she opposes him.)

squeaver · 22/09/2015 10:10

I hope Charlie gathers the whole village together for the opening of the new hall and then asks them all up, one by one, to tell their stories of Rob-evil.

ppeatfruit · 22/09/2015 10:52

Your cat loves meringue and curry Shock vixatis? ( I understand lettuce because cats like grass) Mine gets upset if there's too much tomato in her turkey stew Grin. Although she has been known to nick meat or bones from the work surface, though now she has 3 legs that doesn't happen.

Yes Helen is on to him, about time.

R4 · 22/09/2015 11:16

Helen is on to him but isn't doing anything about it!
Why is she frightened to speak her mind - why not say "I didn't enjoy the sex the other night, you came on too strong" or "no, you didn't tell me. it must be your memory at fault" or "we need to get approval for this livestock corner idea".

Anybody notice how Knob-without-a-job got Johnny doing the hard graft for him because he was too busy doing erm ...

InimitableJeeves · 22/09/2015 11:22

I wish she'd ask him what precisely he intends to do about earning a living. Piggoi's money won't last forever, and if he claims that his valuable "project management" is a full time job she needs to tell him to forget the stupid livestock corner and that Tom and Pat will happily take over.

ppeatfruit · 22/09/2015 11:39

Yes R4 and what's this 'date night' about? Inimitable you're right what did he say "to get those post honeymoon glows back" YEEUUUCH.

Notice that Helen DID say she wanted Henry to 'stay in his own bed' so throwing knobs' words back at him.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/09/2015 11:42

Can't understand why she has never asked about meeting his parents.

TheSilveryPussycat · 22/09/2015 12:02

Surely every evening is spent with the two of them together, after Henry's gone to bed? What do they do atm?

BYOSnowman · 22/09/2015 12:08

Bow - he skilfully deflected that by making his parents be the bad guys for standing them up that time they had a 'meet the parents' dinner. Of course we all know he didn't invite them!

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/09/2015 12:11

Yes, but they have got married since then - surely not unreasonable for her to meet the in-laws?
