Chocolate Chip cookie anyone?

Yup Henry will be off to boarding school with Ruraidh before you know it. Plus pregnancy is usually when the real nasty stuff starts.

Gruach · 14/08/2015 10:28

It's unlikely he'll be boarding at 5! (And if they do send him at 8 or 9 he'd be home pretty much every other weekend at least.) Prep school wouldn't be an effective way of getting rid of him.

But yes, his life would hardly be worth living once he had a Rob-fathered sibling.

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2015 10:29

R4* Thinking about it .knob has an obsession with baybees; he said at the start that Jess and he were disagreeing about them, saying that she didn't want one and he did. His whole attitude is one of manipulation where they are concerned.. very strange.

peppapissinpig · 14/08/2015 11:20

Haha I thought Ruriadh was just Jennifer pronouncing Rory in a really annoying way

Gruach · 14/08/2015 12:16

Ruairi

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2015 12:32

So Canton and on is going to run away to sea ,he's such an effing pratt Toby is just about down to his on level, how old is he? FGS.

I like Pip winding Tobes up, very clever.

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2015 12:34

Sorry I meant that Kenton is beneath the intellectual level that Toby is on and that's not saying much. Grin

PseudoBadger · 14/08/2015 13:21

I'm hopeful that Toby will do the right thing and deliver Kenton safely home.

Hmm ... The last time Kenton "crashed" at someone's Borchester flat rather than going home it signalled the end of his relationship with Kathy.

It was pretty poor behaviour this time. Just turned 57 year old Kenton running off to get drunk with 23 year old Trouble - when his stepdaughter had already warned him it would upset her mother.

Oh - had Plod moved in with Fallon or does he still have somewhere she can live when she loses the flat?

ErrolTheDragon · 14/08/2015 13:57

Do 23yo boys really try to round up a drinking party of older blokes in the pub? Confused He even asked Tony fgs. I wouldn't hold any hope of him doing anything other than encouraging Kenton into more idiocy.

choccyp1g · 14/08/2015 14:05

They are going to crash at the caravan aren't they, and David will find them resulting in yet more anguish.

squeaver · 14/08/2015 14:22

Pip's not going to Brazil, is she?

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 14/08/2015 15:07

Good grief, the drinking scene reminded me of Blackadder II where they all get twatted and sing about the little pixie! That was cringe-makingly awful!

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 14/08/2015 15:58

Christ could you imagine Moany Tony living it up daaahn Borchester?

I hope the SW aren't going to do Ed and Will battle of the brothers reloaded and poshed up with Trouble, Rex and Pip.

I really hope Pip goes to Brazil but I too think she's not going :(

Just as an aside, the last time I was a regular listener (before the last year) Kenton used to knock about with Nelson getting into scrapes. Now there was a character. I have no idea what happened to him.

stilllearnin · 14/08/2015 16:38

Nit thanks - I couldn't quite put my finger on what it reminded me of - but that was it...exactly!!

Icimoi · 14/08/2015 17:15

Nelson Gabriel in a nutshell according to Wikipedia:

The son of Walter Gabriel, the village carrier and self-appointed "character," Nelson was for many years the most disreputable character in the village. He was charged with the Borchester mail-van robbery in 1967, but was eventually acquitted. After spells in London and Spain, in the 1980s he ran a wine bar and later an antique shop with Kenton Archer. Finally he disappeared to South America, where he died in strange circumstances.

florentina1 · 14/08/2015 19:43

Was it Walter Gabriel who called everyone "me awld pal, me awld beauty"?

I think they wrote Nelson out in a bit of a strange way because the actor (Jack May) died. Elizabeth and Shula and Nigel seemed to spend a lot of time in his Wine Bar. And he ran an antiques shop at one point.

He was indeed a great character.

selsigfach · 14/08/2015 21:12

Can't believe it's taken Ruth this long to work out that bringing her mum to Brookfield is the solution to her problems. Pretty disgusted with David though. It's ok to have his (perfectly healthy) mummy around to make him coffee and cake but not for Ruth to have her mum.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/08/2015 22:03

Nelson was my favourite character ever, largely because of Jack May. If anyone has ever heard the brilliant Radio 4 adaptation of Lord of the Rings from the 80s, he was Theoden. Beautiful, beautiful voice; amazing presence.

The chef in the wine bar was Shane who was the first openly gay character in TA, IIRC (albeit a silent character).

EBearhug · 14/08/2015 22:24

If anyone has ever heard the brilliant Radio 4 adaptation of Lord of the Rings from the 80s, he was Theoden I've got the boxed set (on tape). I remember it on the radio, too. Seemed to go on forever, but I suspect it was just one summer and it was on at a time when I often heard it.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/08/2015 22:53

That was a great LOTR - wish they'd repeat it.

They couldn't have recast Nelson because his voice was so distinctive but the writing out was oddly done. I never could understand how Walter had a son who sounded like nelson.

EBearhug · 14/08/2015 23:19

Well, I suppose he could have cultivated his voice to fit in with his antiques business clientele, but yes, you'd have thought he should have sounded broad Borsetshire (like Walter), rather than public schooly.

elephantoverthehill · 14/08/2015 23:53

Thank you. I am becoming my mother and listening to TA. I had a discussion with her a while back about the Grundys and about how the voice used to scare me when I was small. She told me that the Grundys were not even in it when I was small - I have just realised it was Walter Gabriel!
