Count me in amongst those thinking Brian's proposals are totally sensible. He's absolutely correct that it can't be right that he bankrolls what he regards as an experiment whilst Adam carries very little risk at all, and if Adam is so sure he is right then he has nothing to lose and a lot to gain. If he has any sense he will go off and get his own legal advice and tie up a fair partnership or shareholder agreement.

What I am wondering about, however, is his employment status. Presumably if Brian insisted on this and Adam refuses to agree, all he can do is to sack Adam which leaves him vulnerable to an unfair dismissal claim?

BitOutOfPractice · 01/08/2015 13:30

Oh bloody hell. Hellin is "glowing"

R4 · 01/08/2015 13:39

Presumably if Brian insisted on this and Adam refuses to agree, all he can do is to sack Adam which leaves him vulnerable to an unfair dismissal claim?

Adam would be on shaky ground. Brian would say that he was only asking for Adam to do his job - the same job that he has been doing, quite happily, for the past few years. It would be Adam who was in trouble, for gross misconduct for disobeying management's orders.

Icimoi · 01/08/2015 14:25

There are two different scenarios - one where Adam is sacked because he won't accept the continuation of the maize crop; and one where he is sacked purely to make way for the share agreement and he doesn't accept the agreement. The former would presumably be fair provided that Brian goes through the proper processes, but I'm not at all clear that the latter would be.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 01/08/2015 17:25

David & Kate are on Pointless slebs (again...) if anyone's interested Smile

minkGrundy · 01/08/2015 18:32

I think Adam's choices would be accept the share agreement with the autonomy thst comes with it and the risk or stay as an employee and accept that means behaving like an employee. Or ltb (Leave the Brine)

I don't remember Rob's divorce coming through?
Was that an episode I missed?

Icimoi · 01/08/2015 19:40

It could be the case that the SWs are well aware of the law on the requirements for marriage, and that the scenario is that Knob forged Hellin's signature. Thus setting up a Big Drama when The Truth Is Discovered.

mummytime · 01/08/2015 22:31

I wonder if they are trying to write it off as being married by Archbishops special license - I just looked at the regulations and they seem to have got tougher than when I applied (we got married in a College Chapel). And I know even then we both had long forms to fill in.

minkGrundy · 01/08/2015 23:08

I am pretty sure his divorce was announced during yet another meal. Jess caved pretty quickly after dna test and as they have no kids it can be done without sorting any of that out.

Although you would have thought Rob would want to quibble over settlement.

Gruach · 02/08/2015 14:43

The more I think about this the more it's annoying me.Angry

Wasn't it just a few days ago Rob was promising Helen that he would support all her wildest wedding fantasies? And all the time he must have known he had no intention of letting her choose anything.

I'm not sure a surprise invitation to your own wedding is quite on ...

TopazRocks · 02/08/2015 17:47

And what happened to the dress of Kirsty's with the tasteful Ribena blotches? Smile I've been thinking about Pat though - will she maybe be relieved to not have to attend an actual wedding? Imagine the effort of putting on a rictus smile for all those hours. At least with the wedding that wasn't she did like her child's choice, even if he didn't in the end.

But, yes, we are left with the question of how Knob did the whole marriage planning thing. He IS such a nasty piece. Yet you can see how some people can be taken in - Brine, Helen, stillearnin's dad (hope I got that bit right?). What does Soosan make of Knob?

toldmywrath · 02/08/2015 18:09

Not been on this thread for a while! I fell asleep listening to the film this morning (had a bath & dozed off zzzz) so it's clear I'm going to have to listen again (at least to the Friday segment)
I think newpip has at last moderated her voice. It's not so up & down & all over the place like it was at first.
I quite like Ruth as well.

toldmywrath · 02/08/2015 18:09

I was glad to hear Jill got an 'oh no' in as well.

TopazRocks · 02/08/2015 18:30

I think Ruth is oaky too - even if she's had some naff SLs of late.

TopazRocks · 02/08/2015 18:32

okay even!

minkGrundy · 02/08/2015 18:34

I think Ruth is oaky too

Are you saying she is a bit woodenGrin

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/08/2015 19:05

CRICKET?????

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/08/2015 19:05

I think I'm going to be sick

Gruach · 02/08/2015 19:06

Eurghhh!!!

Thank God for Henry.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/08/2015 19:11

Edgbaston!
I thought they might screw in a topical insert about having to go somewhere else because of the great result on Friday but no
OMG

TopazRocks · 02/08/2015 19:13

Why has nobody noticed H's ring? Surely she's one of those women who NEVA takes her wedding ring off. In fact it's the kind of thing Knob would set rules over, no? YY, Ruth is wooden!!

BYOSnowman · 02/08/2015 19:15

I feel a bit sick too!! Was that really necessary!

I hadn't realised they were leaving Henry at home - hy on earth would you go to the iow in the summer holidays. And the whole wedding malarkey is a load of old bollocks.

The annoying thing about radio is you can't see the poker face - but pats little sigh was good!

Rob is going to get his feet well and truly under the table at the farm when he gets sacked from Berrow.

I found this episode a bit confusing trying to recognise the male characters

Gruach · 02/08/2015 19:15

Well at least they've ckeared up the wedding surprise element.

Poor old Ian. So in thedark.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/08/2015 19:15

too much snogging

someone make it stop
