I can't resist alliteration Wink

Rob is going down!!

Please tell me dan isn't going to invite the dodgy doctor

How long was Ruth away? All a bit melodramatic surely. Especially given how quickly they were planning on moving away.

Brian is entitled to his opinion and he is the owner of the farm. It seems like a good suggestion! although how is adam going to live? Adam behaves very emotionally.

selsigfach · 30/07/2015 19:17

I think Brian's plan is completely reasonable. What's the general consensus on here?

TopazRocks · 30/07/2015 19:52

I assume Knob won't go without a fight or two. And Helen will need to flap about 'How could they do this to you, dahling? You work so hard after all. Surely everyone can see that'. I hope uncle Brien with all his business acumen won't put in a word for Knob and get egg on his face.

Maybe Ian and Adam will get new jobs and leave? Till then I suppose Ian can keep him, but won't he get a cut from the business? How soon would that be? I am ignorant of business business. Smile If he's short of dosh maybe he can be the dairy man at Brokefield?!

BYOSnowman · 30/07/2015 19:57

Ian is an employee so won't get a cut

charlie will struggle to prove it was knob. he is compiling a list of things but has no hard facts

Minimammoth · 30/07/2015 20:17

I obviously need a biig catch up. I don't like Pip at all. No character, I hate her constant explosive delivery. No nuance. Rubbish acting

R4 · 30/07/2015 20:17

Go Brian! Go Brian!
Adam is such a numpty. Bet he's sorry he rocked the boat now.
He will get drawings to tide him over until the end of the year, when the profits (if anyHmm) are determined.
If it all goes well then Brian gets 60%. If it doesn't, Adam has been sacked without any redundancy costs is merely keeping the seat warm until Ruarghguiri is of an age.
Go Brian!

Scarydinosaurs · 30/07/2015 20:21

Maybe they'll kill Pip off. Surely that's the only way?

R4 · 30/07/2015 20:24

I was looking at Apple's roadsigns and thinking that it was all blokes so far who had met a nasty accident. It must surely be time for a female.
Can't think who.

TopazRocks · 30/07/2015 20:27

No, BYOS, I meant will Adam at some stage not get a cut from Home farm profits? But how soon would that be? assuming there are profits of course. I know Ian is an employee of GG.

BitOutOfPractice · 30/07/2015 20:27

Oh so knob is firmly in the frame. Int-er-esting!

I think Brian's suggestion is a very sensible business suggestion

TopazRocks · 30/07/2015 20:32

R4, I feel a bit sorry for Adam. he's worked on that farm for years. Very hard at times, more than Brine seems to even when eh was younger than 70! But Brine has never liked him. I know he moans (Adam that is ....) but he does work. And his mammy won't be pleased. She loves her boy.

That reminds me - when all that talk a few weeks ago of Phoebe, sex and so forth - JD seemed to suggest she had Adam in her early 20s. I thought she'd been a school girl. Anyone to tell me the truth of it?

BYOSnowman · 30/07/2015 20:39

i thought she was 21 when she had adam

topaz - sorry - adam is currently an employee. if he accepts brian's scheme he will get a cut (40%) - i assume he can draw annually

adam works hard but he is in a better position than if he wasn't stepson of the owner. don't think he's really owed anything

R4 · 30/07/2015 20:44

But how soon would that be?

He can get drawings from day one. They work out what they think he will earn and pay him an on-account sum every month (it will be less than a twelfth of the expected, in case they don't meet target). They do a tot-up at the end and pay what's due minus what he's had already.

R4 · 30/07/2015 20:48

JD was born in 1945, Adam in 1967. So that makes her 22 when she had him, not that old really.

R4 · 30/07/2015 20:49

Whoops. Meant to say not that young!

Scarydinosaurs · 30/07/2015 20:54

I hope Adam smashes it and makes loads of profit.

Go team Adam!

Pip could be trampled by a gaggle of goslings??

Am I the only one tempted to buy my own gosling to rear and then have for Christmas Day??

R4 · 30/07/2015 21:25

I hope Adam smashes it and makes loads of profit.

Not likely. Not when Brian is in charge of the accounting.Wink Adam won't know what's hit him until it's too late because he's such a numpty.

oddfodd · 30/07/2015 21:37

They were just talking about this on the science programme on R4. The maize expert woman was very much Team Adam. I hope Brian chokes on his own maize (well I sort of love Brian as a character but he's really a terrible twat).

TopazRocks · 30/07/2015 21:41

Okay, must have just been the 'scandal' of single motherhood that made me think she was v young. I seem to recall my mum was as upset as Peggy. Grin

TopazRocks · 30/07/2015 21:45

Yes, that's the thing, Brine doesn't seem to have looked into the maize thing - he's just against it cos he's reactionary and it was his less favoured child's idea.

R4 · 30/07/2015 21:53

Brine's against it because Adam's logic was so flaky. If Adam had said that he had an alternative crop in mind, with a guaranteed market, that made even more profit then Brian would have jumped at it.
I didn't hear the science programme but wasn't Charlie saying something the other day about getting round soil depletion problems by undersowing?

highkickindandy · 30/07/2015 22:26

I don't want to see Rob get caught with his hands in the till, I'd rather the slow burn of Helen's realization of what a misogynist git he is and her struggle to break free after all her efforts to convince herself, her family, Ian etc that they're love's young dream.....

choccyp1g · 30/07/2015 22:48

What evidence does Brian have that "Rob is a very good cowman". ?
Though I did like the implication behind it..."Say what you like about him...."

CuttedUpPear · 31/07/2015 00:08

What happened tonight (Thursday)?
I've got a friend staying over so couldn't listen Angry

minkGrundy · 31/07/2015 00:18

I think Rob will frame Charlie. He will manage to turn it tound so it looks like Charlue blocked the culvert, Charlie got rid of Stefan and Charlie is on the fiddle.

He will probably fit him up as Ethans dad too.

Either that or he will get caught but H having doubted him over Ethan will stand by him even though it is obvious he dun it. Thus isolating her and putting them on a it's them versus us footing. Meaning she will not have a bad word said about him and giving him an excuse to behave badly "sorry darling its the stress. This dreadful business with Charlie. And anyway you shouldn't have made me angry..."

I think Brine is quite right. Anyway presumably there has been enough in the farm in the past to pay Adam a wage and Brine to get the lion's share. So Adam may end up better off...or not.
I presume this also means though that unless he keeps costs, both materials and labour down, he is effectively blowing his own wages.

And yes undersowing has been mentioned more than once but Adam says in a whiney yet at the same time overly forceful voice "but don't you see. It isn't working. The soil...." i think Adam's maize scenes have been dreadfully hammed up. It was almost painful listening to that exchange between him and Brine on the science program.
