I think she did object to the pill, didn't she? Given all that stuff about putting dreadful chemicals into your body?

Icimoi · 15/07/2015 15:55

Kate is so bloody frustrating isn't she? Did she used to be this crass?

I don't know whether she always used to be, but I do recall the storyline when she floated back from SA and tried to demand custody of Phoebe, and she was just as crass then - the whole thing was all about her with no regard for Phoebe's welfare.

I thought she was just determined to have a row Icimoi if you know what you mean. But I could be wrong. She is a very new agey / herbally though so that could be why she objects

Scarydino · 15/07/2015 16:06

I took it that she objected to the pill very strongly AND felt it was giving Phoebe permission to have sex with whoever she wanted- a very old fashioned view from someone as 'modern' as Kate.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 15/07/2015 19:12

Not sure about the Chris/Peggy squabbling/bitching.

Glad phoebe and Roy are getting on well. At least she has one parent. Please let phoebe have a top uni degree and top career.

Kate is so self centred!! I bet phoebe wishes she would go back to sa. Talk about an overreaction to her having one serious boyfriend and extrapolating to phoebe wanting to sleep with every male in a 3 mile radius

It sounded a bit like Peggy is angling to be top dog. Really she should just have left Chris to get on with her baking. If I were in the middle of cooking something I'd find it intensely irritating having someone faffing around putting my ingredients away.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/07/2015 19:58

I enjoyed that episode. Chris and Peggy bickering over the baking but by the end clearly both enjoying having the company of someone so familiar and reliable that you can safely bicker without endangering the relationship.

This may or may not resonate with me as I approach the 35th anniversary of first meeting the man who has been my husband for a third of a century. Smile

Phoebe Oxbridge material! Go Phoebe. I hope she ends up where she wants to be, whether that's Oxford, Cambridge or one of the many other top UK universities. If she drops out I won't be responsible for my actions. Angry

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 15/07/2015 20:01

Agree gas - they have to let someone go to a top name uni.

I'm fearful if an accidental pregnancy/abortion sl though. Or Alex dumping her and her failing her exams. I really hope they just let her succeed

mummytime · 15/07/2015 20:33

Can we start a "Let Phoebe go to Oxford (or Cambridge)" campaign. I can recommend my old college.

Gruach · 15/07/2015 20:36

As. If.

Poor Phoebe. She'll be christening her DS/DD this time next year and agreeing to work full time at the Bull as shes 18 ...

I've forgotten the exact last words of tonight's episode - but they were full of portent.

R4 · 15/07/2015 20:55

"Stay safe, be happy. That's what we all want for you."

I hope that they allow Feebs to escape Ambridge. It would be totally logical for her to want to get as far away from Kate as possible. Oxford is probably not far enough. Nor Cambridge. Maybe Harvard?

I do feel sorry for her though. All her parents have let her down and now it sounds like the school has, too - have they really only noticed on practically the last day of Y12 that she is Oxbridge material?

R4 · 15/07/2015 20:56

Anybody got any idea which A Levels she is doing?

selsigfach · 15/07/2015 20:58

How does Roy know about Phoebe's sexy time disaster?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 15/07/2015 21:06

Kate was sounding off and Roy heard the end. It then cut away and the next we heard was Roy talking to phoebe in the car so I guess it was explained while we were at the lodge

oddfodd · 15/07/2015 21:07

They have got to let a woman actually finish a decent degree and fulfill their potential.

Although you can get a first from Oxbridge and never work again as a good number of my school friends did ...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/07/2015 21:26

I think Phoebe's doing Arts/Humanities subjects.

It is actually possible to have a baby and get a good degree at the same time, although it must be very, very hard. However, I had a contemporary who re-appeared for our second year several months pregnant. She juggled motherhood with study, bringing the baby to lectures in the early days and then he went to the university creche. She had a lot of family support and her husband (as he eventually became) worked away from home.

She told me that it made it easier in some ways as she couldn't go out at night and he was an easy baby. Impressive enough, but as we moved through our final year it became clear that she was pregnant again. She had her second child a few days after we finished our finals. She got a First, very comfortably. She was an amazing person and I wish we'd stayed in touch. (I lost her address, sadly.) If you're reading this, S, PM me! (I hope she's an Archers listener. All the best people are.)

In the subject of lost storylines

Roy was moping around and Tom decided he was going to help him out of the rut. There was also an implication Roy was going to fall further once mike moved

Nothing ever happened and Roy seems to have just picked himself up quietly

And who has moved Into mikes house?

BiscuitMillionaire · 15/07/2015 21:42

I had a bit of a lightbulb moment:
Kate and Phoebe = Edina and Saffie !!

BiscuitMillionaire · 15/07/2015 21:44

Pip is going to turn down the job at the last moment, for lurve. Then get messed around and regret it forever.

I like Debbie, but Episodes is my current favourite TV prog, so now when I hear her I just hear the Episodes character.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 15/07/2015 22:22

the storyline when she floated back from SA and tried to demand custody of Phoebe, and she was just as crass then - the whole thing was all about her with no regard for Phoebe's welfare

oh god yes, THIS!!!

It was what started me posting in Mustardland (though it wasn't mustard yet) - she was INFURIATING & had no cares for Phoebe's sense of family security or self-confidence. I've never shouted at the radio so much (or wanted to punch somebody so much).

Poor little mite was only about 2 & Hayley was her mum FFS!

I adore Debbie though Grin & although I like Episodes, in that I just hear Debbie

trufflehunterthebadger · 15/07/2015 23:01

Kate is so bloody frustrating isn't she? Did she used to be this crass?

Yes. She has always been unbearable, from when she ran away with the hippies and didn't make contact with her family in months and they thought she was dead to her living in the holiday cottage with Roy and behaving like an uppity little madam

trufflehunterthebadger · 15/07/2015 23:03

Is Debbie actually Debbie ??? I thought she would have been replaced by one of those awful interchangeable kate/hayley/pip replacements

Must listen !! I can't see anything involving TG without going "ooooo debbie aldridge" like an old gimmer

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 15/07/2015 23:11

Debbie really is still the lovely TG Smile
