Has anyone spotted "Matt" doing anything else lately? (No TV here.)

My toleration of characters' moaniness depends on whether they have just cause to moan. Phoebe - absolutely, if I had a mother like Kate I'd moan for England. Bert Froy with deceased wife likewise has good cause to be unhappy. Kenton - no valid reason to moan whatsoever.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 14/07/2015 19:08

What was that with Jenny? I guess she'd not been seen for so long

Liked the gossiping about liz and Roy. And Brian telling Jenny to get the towel and not dashing in to get one himself!

Bit odd though that she needs to have these conversations though. Do they never talk?

Halsall · 14/07/2015 19:09

Oh ffs JennyDarling! Are you on glue?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/07/2015 19:13

BOOPBOOPBOOP! Nobody does family rows like the Aldridges. Grin

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 14/07/2015 19:13

'Abandon her' - hasn't Kate done that already?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 14/07/2015 19:15

Kate is such a brat and totally deluded

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/07/2015 19:16

If this was Midsomer Murders I'd be expecting to find a body in the swimming pool by morning - Kate's ideally.

Merse · 14/07/2015 19:18

Well I say a massive BOOP for the entire episode! Loved JD's mounting hysteria - pitch of her voice was close to shattering windows. And Kate's rant on the subject of the pill was superb. The idea of trying to parent a teenage Kate makes me need a lie-down.

Merse · 14/07/2015 19:21

Poor Jenny trying to suggest Kate stops making everything about herself. Wasting her breath big time….

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 14/07/2015 19:44

Won't anyone think of the fish!

Gruach · 14/07/2015 19:44

That was fun!

Debbie sounded quite subdued; wonder if Ms Greig was consciously trying not to stamp all over the others.

And just imagine the editorial meeting when they dreamt up the idea of Jenny and Kate fighting, not for possession of Phoebe's soul, but for the right to advise her on contraception.

BOOPS all round.

selsigfach · 14/07/2015 23:07

I love that Kate is more concerned about GSK's profits than about becoming a grandmother in her thirties!

R4 · 14/07/2015 23:19

I really felt for JD today especially as my own DD came home today too. It so didn't conform to the script in her head.Sad

Where was Alice. Didn't she get the day off work?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/07/2015 07:02

I'm surprised with her 3-line-whip approach to greeting Debbie that JD didn't ring Alice's boss and insist that she should be given time off!

Scarydino · 15/07/2015 07:32

I need to catch up on the last two episodes- I can't decide if I'm pleased that Debbie is back or not.

I wonder how Ed is getting on with his new career.

CuttedUpPear · 15/07/2015 08:08

nigels Lilian's laugh is a wondrous thing and brings much comfort to many on here Smile

florentina1 · 15/07/2015 08:11

Boop boop boop, best epsidode for ages. Love Jenny and Brine. Also love how much exasperation Brine manages to inflect in the word Jennyyyyyyyyyy.

Minimammoth · 15/07/2015 08:50

Just caught up on thread and need to catch up with latest episodes. I like Adam. agree on the amount of moan yens. We need some comedy relief. Like the idea of a young Lillian. Kirsty was quite good, want her back to go for Rob.

Icimoi · 15/07/2015 09:58

JD does tend to sound a bit needy around her children - at least until they're there and being annoying, like Kate.

Kate is a right bitch in insinuating that Hayley and the school might not have given Phoebe adequate sex education when Kate has contributed precisely nothing in that direction. She seems to be wanting to relive her youth vicariously through Phoebe, with all that nauseating stuff about being with her at such a special time in her life.

BitOutOfPractice · 15/07/2015 11:30

Loved yesterdays eoisides. Big boops all round.

Kate is so bloody frustrating isn't she? Did she used to be this crass?

ErrolTheDragon · 15/07/2015 14:33

When Kate refers to 'my daughter' it's very much as her possession rather than her responsibility. If it was the latter she'd thank Jenny for encouraging Phoebe to consult a professional rather than bollocking her.

Bit odd the way they all (except Alice, who the SWs have forgotten exists) had to be there to greet Debbie - like a visit from royalty or something. Confused Did love Debbie's comment, somethign like 'its great to be home' - said as if she meant it, I thought - as she heard Jenny and Kate arguing in the background. Grin

Scarydino · 15/07/2015 15:46

Okay, so thoughts on yesterday's episode:

  1. Jenny reached new levels of neuroticism over Debbie's visit.
  2. Brine's comments about Elizabeth are a bit rich given his own colourful behaviour- the results of which were booting a football all over poor Jenny's tea roses.
  3. Both Fairbrothers seem to be overstepping the mark in Brookfield. I foresee huge problems come moving day.
  4. It seems deep down Kate is a right wing dickhead. Her objections to the pill were laughable.
BitOutOfPractice · 15/07/2015 15:51

I don't think she objects to the pill per se. I think she objects to her DD being on the pill. Or, even more specifically, not being consulted about her daughter being on the pll
