Won't someone please give Kenton a kick in the FA Cup Finals, and a link to Money Saving Expert?

OP posts:
BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/06/2015 19:43

I hope that wasn't a double entendre!!

Adam sounds about 15. Rant rant rant oh let's just have a drink, of course ill bring my combine. But I can see that Adam is behaving in the way his character was originally when he came back. It's just done badly!!

R4 · 09/06/2015 19:58

I'm confused about the combine. I thought that when Charlie asked Adam to bring it to the open day, Adam got on his high horse about (1) being dumped in favour of R&L and (2) Berrow doing the wrong sort of farming. How and why did he end up doing it anyway?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/06/2015 20:15

charlie fluttered his eyelashes i think

and he threw a party after

i thought the locals all fell in with charlie's local fair a bit too compliantly

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/06/2015 20:47

Anyone else very worried about the fete? Grin

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/06/2015 20:56

is this like the cancelled panto?

ZeroFunDame · 09/06/2015 20:58

I couldn't give a flying fig!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/06/2015 21:15

oh zero - won't you think of all those poor kids who won't be able to beg and plead their parents to let them have a hundred goes at the lucky dip. think of them sitting in their rooms all sad faced surrounded by NO plastic tat!

selsigfach · 09/06/2015 21:45

God, that was a boring episode. I assumed Jills bad news was going to be that Heatherpet had SOTMC. What's happened to Steffan? Charlie's unfaltering hunt for the culvert blocker seems to have been abandoned.

Eastpoint · 10/06/2015 04:48

I wasn't completely focusing to begin & muddled up Pip & Kate when Pip was talking to Adam later in the episode, she just sounds so old (& dull) for a 22/23 year old.

minkGrundy · 10/06/2015 07:48

I think the SW are portraying Toby as a wrong un and clearly someone is going to get over invested in a relationship with him and get hurt.
I don't think they are slut shaming Kate. I think they are just consistently potraying her as someone who has a desperate need to act younger and more carefree than she is. So it is all about partying and freedom but actually she a) would have liked to hear from.Toby again b) is missing her marriage.
But also of course is selfish and teenagerish anout things like the job and cleaning up.

Speaking of job, I take it she isn't working anymore?

HapShawl · 10/06/2015 07:55

The Phoebe actor is v good I think

When does Pip go to Brazil (or wherever) again?!

selsigfach · 10/06/2015 08:18

In August, HapShawl, supposedly, but it will be like Prudhoe all over again so don't get your hopes up.

mummytime · 10/06/2015 09:25

Umm didn't any of you know its Global Soil Wekk, in the International Year of Soils 2015? So expect a lot more about soil - which admittedly most people have very little idea of just how important it is and how much we are losing and damaging this resource.

It may be clunky but personally I'd give it a big BOOP, if it just makes a few people think.

My personal wish list for the plots:
Pip goes to Brazil/where-ever, seize the chance while you have it (maybe egged on by Heather pet in a death bed scene).
Alice continues with her career.
Mike doesn't go - he sounds miserable (and he has a crucial distinctive voice).
Bridge Farm ends up with a nice little rural shopping are: the Organic shop, the village shop, and Fallon's tea room/upcycled furniture, and there should be a gallery/craft area. Which would mean the economics would finally make sense.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/06/2015 09:56

Gosh yes, the tea room/craft centre along with the shop at bridge farm would be nice.

I fear that if most of us on this thread had no idea about soil week/year then it really hasn't impacted public conciousness at all, though probably not particularly aimed at the general public.

ppeatfruit · 10/06/2015 10:32

Yes yes mummytime I also give them a BOOP for the soil storyline, As an organic gardener and a fan of Round the Horne I know that "The answer lies in the soil". Shame a few more farmers are so effin' ignorant

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/06/2015 11:11

I know about soil erosion etc and I found the way they dealt with it preachy and tbh I almost turned off. There are better ways to go about it than having one character constantly banging the drum every time he is on air

I wonder if Ian will divorce him do his unreasonable behaviour of boring everyone with his views on soil

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/06/2015 17:08

So village fete

One of Brian's fields?
Bridge farm?
Lower loxley? Liz might want a festival themed fete...

ZeroFunDame · 10/06/2015 17:14

Don't go there ...

And what's become of Doc Delish?

enochroot · 10/06/2015 18:57

I've been away a week and have probably caught up pretty well from this thread.
Couple of questions though....
Was Helen successful doing the presentation? Is Rob suitably grateful?
Does Pip know about Kate and Toby?
Any sign of Stefan?

Bluestocking · 10/06/2015 19:04

A treat for Auntie Cardboard?

ZeroFunDame · 10/06/2015 19:06

Oh goodness! The last time those three had a day out they came back to find Phil dead.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/06/2015 19:13

I can't believe they will let mike go. It seems a really cruel way for him to go off into that uncertain future.

As for Christine - Peggy's going to suggest she moves in isn't she

ZeroFunDame · 10/06/2015 19:16

Wonder if Mike's heart will stop on Thursday night ...

ppeatfruit · 10/06/2015 20:34

It might be preachy and not aimed at the general public but our grandchildren are not going to thank us for leaving them a barren desert to grow their food in. Just because short term profits are king.

ZeroFunDame · 10/06/2015 20:41

On the contrary ppeat - I certainly think issues about soil security and the sustainability or otherwise of farming practice are deeply important for even the most city locked listener.

But I'm not sure how many more of Adam and Charlie's genteel lunches (with added surprise rant) I can stand.Grin
