She's got a whole calendar to use!

Yeah basketz - dh is still reading stories.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 14/11/2014 19:12

Another sodding actor - they should be saving the money for matt!

Is tony going to be paralysed?

GypsyFloss · 14/11/2014 19:14

Helen...it's all about you again .

I wonder if we are going to get Tony in a wheelchair permanently? There was some talk on the old BBC MB board about how the writers missed an opportunity by not writing Nigel as surviving but injured in a life changing way.

Eastpoint · 14/11/2014 19:14

What drama

BringYourOwnSnowman · 14/11/2014 19:16

I felt that way about the Nigel story. I don't think Tony is the right character for a disability storyline. I think a younger person would be better.

Note the pause and then faded in jolly music

OddFodd · 14/11/2014 19:16

Bah I got a bit teary Hmm

BasketzatDawn · 14/11/2014 19:16

Wow indeed. Who hasn't got a lump in their throat then after that?

capercaillie · 14/11/2014 19:17

will Tom return - and how quickly?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 14/11/2014 19:17

Not sure his heart would survive the trauma anyway.

Grim.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 14/11/2014 19:18

I'm a wreck. Oh dear. I do think I was right, though, about this being written primarily for the omnibus. It would have been much better to hear those last two episodes as one continuous broadcast.

Off to watch Titanic now. Not sure it will cheer me up....

GypsyFloss · 14/11/2014 19:18

I'm not convinced that Tony is going to make it :(

How long before we get new Tom home from Canada?

unitarian · 14/11/2014 19:19

Gypsy I had the same thought about Helen beating herself up at just the wrong moment and needing her mum to worry about her.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/11/2014 19:22

Oh gosh, had me in tears. Cynical me!

Was proper edge-of-seat stuff, I'll have to LA as soon as it's on iplayer thing.

Poor, poor Tony.

Am just itching to slap Helen.

BasketzatDawn · 14/11/2014 19:27

Maybe we will get a GOOD and well-acted disability story? I hope they know where in Canada Tom is - and he's got his mobile switched on again. It's a HUGE country, you know!

Regarding his heart, I think since they got him to hospital so promptly maybe that will be okay now. They'll have intubated him in the helicopter so his breathing is being assisted. I wasn't sure he was conscious, but anyway he wouldn't have a speaking role with an intubation tube down!

Helen's response - for once - was normal. She did blame herself. Though I do too, but she'd have blamed herself anyway in those circs. She could and should have taken child with her, esp. as she knew her mother was away all day and the farm was busy. Pat was good IMO.

unitarian · 14/11/2014 19:28

I confess to a tear in my eye when Pat was talking to him.

Tom will fly in sometime next week and Rob will be busy taking over Bridge Farm.
I wonder if David and Ruth will re-think when they see community and family pitching in to help.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/11/2014 19:31

Yes, this is what will bring NewTom back. He couldn't possoiby stay away, surely?

Don't think they will kill off Tony but he will take months and months to recover (unless the Ambridge Health Fairy puts in an appearance)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 14/11/2014 19:31

Surely, surely D&R will stop counting their money and concentrate on supporting Bridge Farm?

Will Tom get home to see his father alive?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 14/11/2014 19:32

Assuming tony survives - who will be the one who says 'I told you so' about the cows?

I hope he survives and the scene with pat was well done. Just didn't like the casualty bits.

Everyone blames themselves when accidents happen - it is when people start blaming others that it becomes unpleasant.

Tom will have to return surely - his family need him!

BringYourOwnSnowman · 14/11/2014 19:33

More of this (not the casualty bits) and less of Brookfield nonsense please sw!

BitOutOfPractice · 14/11/2014 19:35

Tom will have to come home now

WhatSheSaid · 14/11/2014 19:36

I assume the doctor speaking was to inform us, the listeners, what the injuries were.

NewTom will obviously return from Canada for this...and take over the farm? Even if Tony recovers, he is 63 and these are major injuries.

The episode guide of "Peggy leaves her party early" was a complete red herring then. The party won't even happen.

BasketzatDawn · 14/11/2014 19:36

At least it should mean much more work for Ed. The medical bits were a useful device to get a lot of info over in a short few moments. Otherwise, we'd all be speculating on what injuries he actually had ....

PseudoBadger · 14/11/2014 19:37

Missed it. Bloody DCs. Will catch up when DS finally sleeps.

OP posts:
BasketzatDawn · 14/11/2014 19:40

X-post with WhatSheSaid. Yeah, no party. They might need a purvey yet though. Sad

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 14/11/2014 19:49

It seems so unfair on Pat ...

But such a dramatic shift in the family power structure.

Tomlet returning. Rob circling like a shark. Johnny will have to grow up speedily.

And this isn't the sort of good luck one wanted for Ed and Eddie.

Will Pat even have time to go into the dairy? Will Helen take over or will they increase Clarrie and Susan's hours. Or take on - Emma? Or a newbie. Endless ramifications.
