She's got a whole calendar to use!

Do you think that they paid one of the cast to play the part of the waiter? My money's on Charles Collingwood.Grin

mummytime · 26/11/2014 09:33

Actually I just realised what I really like at present - well as long as they follow through and don't forget it forever. Is the Alastair storyline. He's been acting suspicious, but nothing more has been said, and its kind of faded away. Now if that suddenly develops in 6 months or a year - it will be fun.

Actually giving Todd a voice is fine, if he is going to be around for a bit. Brian was encouraging Adam not to burn his bridges. I remember Brian being a bit of a shock when he started grubbing out the hedges - for modern farming.

Bit parts certainly always used to be played by regulars - with some attempt at disguise, not always successful (I usually reckoned the men were all either Tim Bentinck or Terry Molloy)

Have you noticed how few suggestions there are for the next thread title? It looks like we are all losing interest ... Sad

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 26/11/2014 10:18

Eastpoint, I've stopped listening too, after nigh on 30 years Sad

hadn't unfollowed on FB though - good idea, thanks for the hint!

I didn't think that Tom had flounced off without telling the family where he was. In my mind they all know exactly where he is and get sporadic emails updating them on life in the mega-piggery, and they chat about how he's getting on, it's just conversation that is off air. Pat and Tony, knowing that Rob had fixed up the job, would never have stood for not knowing at least where he was working, in more detail than "Canada". It's not as if he blames his family for anything to the extent that he'd cut them off cold, though he may want to lie fairly low through embarrassment. Makes it all the more implausible that he hasn't made it home to Tony's bedside though.

PseudoBadger · 26/11/2014 11:15

R4 - I think it's because most people like Lillian's Jesse J inspired title?

OP posts:
unitarian · 26/11/2014 11:27

Whatever, I hope Tom's got a reasonable explanation for taking so long to get to the bedside!
Perhaps he's winding up his Canadian hot dog franchise.

trevortrevorslattery · 26/11/2014 13:36

yes i vote for jessie J

Minimammoth · 26/11/2014 14:26

I vote for Jessie J too. Still lurking more than posting.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/11/2014 16:16

Perhaps he's been tipped off about the Catheridge Hall bailiff patiently waiting at Heathrow?

ErrolTheDragon · 26/11/2014 16:43

I think the SWs just want to keep Tom out of things long enough for Rob to have a chance to really interfere and develop the tension betwixt him and Johnnie. They can't think of any decent excuse why he's not in contact (even if he can't come over, people really can't aways just drop their jobs at least phone/skype/email so at least Helen would have someone to discuss Rob's ideas with) - so they're just ignoring his existence for now.

I gather it takes about 6 weeks to get an episode ready for broadcast so here's my cynical take on it.....

Lowly script writer: If Tony's accident occurs in the middle of November we'd better book Tom Graham for late October for the bedside reconciliation.
SO'C: No I want a new Tom. One that fits my concept of TA's future.
LSW: Have you got a replacement lined up? I'm thinking we'll need whoever it is very soon.
SO'C: I have Donald Sutherland's grandson in mind.
LSW: But he won't sound at all like the old Tom. He had a very distinctive voice and Tom wouldn't have picked up a Canadian accent in half a year. Listeners are very loyal to characters.
SO'C: Oh listeners don't remember voices that well and a Sutherland will attract lots of new listeners anyway so who cares? Just script it so no one mentions Tom and throw in plenty of other stuff to cover it while I organise a leak to the press as soon as he's signed.

SixToesLeft · 26/11/2014 17:47

May I suggest that everyone who is pissed off with the Brookfield / Route B tediousness, and the disappearance of Tiger and Puss Cat, and would have loved to have heard Roy getting a kicking from Vikkoi, or who is wondering if Mike is moving to Brum, or what Lilly said to Lizzie, or if Ed Is ever going to get a break, or if you are just frustrated... Now is the time to download all the series of Cabin Pressure.

We can listen to that instead at 7pm, and it will make us a lot happier. And the last episode is coming soon, I think. So now's the time to catch up.

GypsyFloss · 26/11/2014 19:05

Heh, I reckon the scripties are reading this and sticking in the bits we keep mentioning...like absent Tom. We ought to make them a list Grin

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/11/2014 19:10

Another pointless newbie. Why are they making Jenny do this?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 26/11/2014 19:11

Has Tom turned up?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/11/2014 19:32

Nope.

Seems they've tried yodelling and smoke signals and an advanced form of morse but nothing can rouse the wild man from his snow cave ...

ErrolTheDragon · 26/11/2014 19:37

Maybe they've hired one actor who can do lots of different voices for all these 'extras'. They're all blokes - next month we'll have lots of random women instead. Grin

Meanwhile David and his sibs are all ££££-eyed. Have D&R discussed this with Jill yet though? I'd have thought she'd be pretty disgusted. Poor Adam... whatever happens I can't see Home Farm getting the land now.

I had a thought about the Carol thing... maybe Jenny is going to uncover that she did help John SOHMC but that he wanted her to.

TopazRocks · 26/11/2014 20:18

Did Carol's son really suggest 'petty arson' or whatever is normal teenage behaviour? Is it?Shock I'm not aware of very many who have been - wouldn't it be in the news more, if so? My son who will be 20 next month - so had better get a move on if he wants a criminal record in his teens - is studying science, and did set his fingers on fire when he was 11 (em, trying to make a bomb with the contents of caps), and has meddled with grass and magnifying glass, but that's the extent of it.

TopazRocks · 26/11/2014 20:23

Errol, I suppose so, though if the son disliked his mother so much wouldn't he want to dob her in? And surely, if he loved his dad/stepdad so much, he'd accept that was how and when he'd want to shuffle off.

I like unitarian's resume of the editorial meeting. It sounds just as it must have been. Smile SOC isn't much of an asset to our dearly loved prog. Sad

cheminotte · 26/11/2014 20:23

Did Carol's son just reference his period of delinquency that he was going through at the time of that old episode linked to upthread? What a coincidence!
Jenny really needs to find a new hobby..

choccyp1g · 26/11/2014 20:24

Petty larceny aka posh boys shoplifting.

TopazRocks · 26/11/2014 20:26

that should read: wanted to shuffle off, even if he disapproved. Though families are all different, as evidenced by events at Brookfield.Grin
