What is all this "dropping" about? Is it just supposed to indicate nerviness with her dad in hospital and Jess lurking around?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/11/2014 15:13

Return of her anorexia. Or possible pregnancy. Or a sudden realisation that she's shacked up with a monster who has made his not yet ex wife pregnant and who's about to destroy her family's business while her dad hangs between life and death?Grin

trevortrevorslattery · 25/11/2014 15:40

Probably the third one, Zero Grin

Icimoi · 25/11/2014 15:49

Certainly anorexia issues coming back Did we clock that reference to not being hungry at lunch yesterday, and then only reluctantly agreeing to one slice of ham? And you can bet most of that got hidden under the cutlery.

PseudoBadger · 25/11/2014 16:01

Yep, and there's been similar over the past week or two.

Why didn't Hellin sleep well? I thought clumsiness was due to tiredness perhaps?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 16:44

Whilst it is totally expected that her anorexia would return given the pressures she is under - it is yet another storyline in a sea full of them.

LillianGish · 25/11/2014 16:48

But it's not a spurious storyline whipped up out of nowhere - it's picking up a strand of the story that has been going on for years. That's when The Archers is at its best.

CuttedUpPear · 25/11/2014 16:59

I'm not surprised that the Sausage King isn't picking up!
He must be mightily pissed off at being replaced by the new blood.

Minimammoth · 25/11/2014 17:13

I find the whole, Helrob storyline very stressful, can we just cut to the chase and have a big showdown. Following thread as can't bear the tension in listening.

Yes Lillian - my point is probably more that they have too many storylines going on and as this one should hae been foreseen web they decided to get hellin involved with rob, perhaps they could have put some others on the back burner.

Not sure the lizroy story has added anything other than rearranging characters - same with mike moving. They could have just let the tuckers go quiet rather than trying to shoehorn them out. An now both stories have gone cold because they are busy with other things

Did tony have to be crushed by bull now? Could dopey storyline have been stretched out so the decision to sell was next year? Could home farm hae lost the contract next year?

They seem in a rush to tell us how great they are coming up with all these plots but slow an steady wins the race!!

Halsall · 25/11/2014 17:35

I'm now imagining Tom as the exhausted, grizzled tramp appearing as a tiny dot on the horizon at the start of Monty Python, and slowly getting closer and closer to finally announce 'IT'S.....' then falling face first, silenced forever.

Rob was CHILLING last night. I was picking someone up from the station and sat in the car-park listening and feeling sick at his manipulation. RichJohn certainly went up in my estimation. And yes, vile comment about Johnny from Knob to Oliver (whose matey laughter has sent him down in my estimation).

LillianGish · 25/11/2014 17:51

True BYOS. They seem to have wasted those stories which have now been subsumed by subsequent events (rather like in a TV soap) - as you say piling drama on drama to the point where the listener thinks well I just don't believe any of this anymore (rather than having to be told "It's not real you know" - which did used to be necessary because in fact it was very realistic).

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 25/11/2014 18:11

It's 11 days since Tony had his close encounter with Otto. If they'd written to Tom, the letter would have got there about a week ago, surely!

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 18:17

Wouldn't you have asked rob to contact his employer to tell Tom

Totally implausible

unitarian · 25/11/2014 18:43

Ah! The thing is they don't know that Rob fixed Tom up with a job in Canada or that Tom ever asked his advice about saving costs on organic feed, selling off the ready meals and where to run to. It was all done in phone calls and Rob didn't stay in the same room as Helen when he was speaking to Tom

So, he knows how to contact Tom but hasn't.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 25/11/2014 18:48

Every time I think I've got my head round how much of a knob Knob is, there's another bit still to come.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 18:49

I thought he had told Helen that he had helped Tom and she was suitably grateful he had helped him

unitarian · 25/11/2014 18:59

I was about to post a retraction, BYOS! He did tell Helen enough to make her grateful but I still think he could have contacted the farm himself by now or given Pat the number.

Icimoi · 25/11/2014 19:04

I really don't believe that Knob is the only person who knows how to contact Tom. In fact, didn't they mention getting in touch with him quite recently?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 19:08

So we haven't got Tom because they needed to pay this other random actor. But hey, they got to talk lots of farming. As usual though they overdid it

And heard new pip for the first time and can't say I'm impressed! She sounds about 30!

SixToesLeft · 25/11/2014 19:08

Oh, I just wish DAvid and Ruth would just fuck off...

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 19:14

Gah!! I shouldn't have listened! Stupid Brookfield nonsense and way too much farming talk thrown in! Seems like they have a quota and decided to have a few heavy episodes.

And another unnecessary actor with the waiter. Wtf are they paying for these extras when they supposedly are cost cutting. Unnecessary actor or the son of a dying main character!!!
