She's got a whole calendar to use!

Might not the customer want to beat down the price? Or deliver a little lecture on exactly how they want the skirting boards painted? Or look very stern about sanctions for delay?

Anyway it meant we got to watch them enjoying a romantic tête à tête, each keeping the same secret from the other.

LillianGish · 25/11/2014 20:49

I don't think they are moving on the basis that they've just recruited a new Pip and Josh. But what's going to stop them? It looks as if they are about to sign a deal. I think the siblings might be the ones to say no - we think they'll have ££££ in their eyes, but the reality is they are the ones who will have to live with the consequences - not just the total destruction of their childhood home, but also the reaction of everyone in the village.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 20:53

I think Kenton will tell dopeys exactly what he thinks and will blow Jill's 'secret' and throw David into boo hoo turmoil because he's upset his mummy

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 20:59

And Shula will play the 'oh don't do it, oh if you must' while being supper pleased with her share

Again, no one has mentioned the fact it needs to be shared

I think Elizabeth will ask for her share rather than a stake in new farm and they'll all get pissy with her. If it were me is want my money out rather than have it tied up in a farm that means nothing to me

CuttedUpPear · 25/11/2014 21:02

Pip's accent!!!!
She veered between Fallon's younger sister and the home counties.

Someone needs to tell her, she'd better brush up on those dulcet tones sharpish and start sounding like her father's daughter if she's going to pull swings both ways Charlie and reclaim her ancestral home.

Cretaceous · 25/11/2014 21:18

I guess they had a problem with the replacement Tom. Perhaps SoC has someone in mind - the son of an actor friend who's tied up until the end of the year?

I'm still disappointed that the aftermath of Ruth's sad miscarriage wasn't allowed to develop. Now the new plots are coming thick and fast, with even less development.
I love this thread, though, particularly insights from dairyfarmerswife etc.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 21:24

Yes it's good having some farming experts on the thread!

Was Ruth's miscarriage under the old regime? Could explain why it's forgotten

Maybe we will get a storyline on it at the anniversary of the miscarriage if not the edd

Minimammoth · 25/11/2014 21:35

Yes. Pip has gone from sounding like a 5 yr old to being sultry.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 21:39

I don't think she sounds sultry! I think she sounds old, deep voiced and unable to maintain an accent

R4 · 25/11/2014 22:02

The real mystery is why she can't do a Worcestershire accent when she comes from Evesham.Confused

PseudoBadger · 25/11/2014 22:07

And with all that training. You know, that was so essential.

OP posts:
AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 25/11/2014 22:22

No, the miscarriage was only in March this year. I suppose it might have been planned under the old regime but it certainly doesn't seem to have led to anything, so what was the point of it?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 25/11/2014 22:27

I think they wanted us to be on the edge of our seats wondering if she had cancer but no they fooled us - its a baby!

Oh, baby is annoying lets get rid. Cos it's that easy.

I guess we have been getting ill thought through storylines for a while now

Anyway, have decided I want to repaint the lounge so if better chat through with the kids cos y'know, it's their inheritance so they get a say

TopazRocks · 26/11/2014 00:13

I like Zero's idea that Knob has not given the correct number for Tom, and Tom will phone up at Christmas or NY because he's decided it's time to be mature and bury the hatchet. Only to be told his dad's been critically ill for weeks. Sad And that'll give them time to sign up New Tom.

I wish there had been a mention of the 'medicine book' over the years, but think I've never heard it. Thanks for that nugget, DFW. I assume it's a record real farmers keep of any treatments the animals receive. What do you bet it will be mentioned some episode soon.Grin

Do you like my new cloak everyone? The colour does suit me, innit?Wink

Eastpoint · 26/11/2014 07:04

I've stopped listening, I've just had a look at this thread but it all seems too implausible and is no longer pleasurable.

So that's that, my mother listened from when she married and had her own home & continued until she died, I listened during my childhood, we had to be quiet after lunch for her to listen. I followed during school, college, listened to tapes when I lived abroad and now I've stopped. So they can't claim listeners have gone up I've unfollowed on Facebook, Twitter etc.

DH will be happy not to have to leave the kitchen when dum de dum starts up.

GypsyFloss · 26/11/2014 07:38

Maybe we will have a Bobby Ewing moment where Rooth wakes up saying she's had the most awful dream about selling the farm, Daveed states firmly that he'd never leave the lifeblood that is his farm , cut to music. Never to ever be mentioned again.

LillianGish · 26/11/2014 07:39

I have to admit a sneaky liking for all the farming stuff last night, however it felt as if they have a monthly quota for farming info (to justify agricultural story editor's salary!) and they thought they'd put it all in to one episode to get it over with rather than drip feeding day by day.

LillianGish · 26/11/2014 07:40

Grin Gypsy

R4 · 26/11/2014 07:57

I have a sneaky liking for the farming stuff too LillianG but not the way it was presented last night. (a) all three characters are detestable (b) why didn't Adam tell us this at the time, bit by relevant bit, instead of shoe-horning it all into one episode?

R4 · 26/11/2014 08:02

Gah! I've done that thing where you realise - after you've pressed the send button - that you have echo'd someone's post back at them.
David & Ruth often mention systems of herd management and they manage to weave that into everyday conversation, so why haven't they done the same for crop management. Why do we get the technical lecture from Adam just when he's giving the job up? Confused

cheminotte · 26/11/2014 08:29

How can you call Adam detestable? His voice at least is delectable.
But yet another unnecessary actor paid for in the shape of Todd.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/11/2014 08:34

But it wasn't a technical lecture. It was Adam dripping scorn on people who thought he didn't know his job!

I must be weird. I loved the alpha male power dance last night. Brookfield building an altar to the £ sign - not so much.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/11/2014 08:36

cheminotte Angry See this queue?

Grin
R4 · 26/11/2014 09:09

Adam is a wimp, always giving in to Brine, Debbie or Charlie and then resenting it. He cheats on his partner. He is always moaning about how much work he has to do, although he found time for that lunch at the drop of a hat. His voice is awful a monotone whinge with no emotion or depth of character. He is a dementor.
I stand by 'detestable'.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 26/11/2014 09:14

Don't forget the extra actor playing the waiter.

I've realised what has been bugging me most about the new archers

Yet don't really know how to write for radio so they have to shoehorn in descriptions/unnecessary actors because they want us to be able to see. What they don't realise is that good writing lets you imagine what you at seeing. So as an example, the amuse voucher last night. We didn't need a description! So unnecessary and unnatural.
