What was te bombshell? Is Charlie employing pip?

PseudoBadger · 21/11/2014 19:40

Justin has made them a very interesting offer.
I wonder if the siblings will actually push for a sale when they realise how much they could get? So the Dopeys want to back out but can't?

Just caught up and glad I didn't listen because this Brookfield storyline is gettibg stupider and stupider.

The whole Justin thing is a walking stereotype and I call bullshit

LillianGish · 21/11/2014 19:45

It's not about the money, money, money, think about Jill's honey, honey, honey, BL want to farm by SatNav, forget about the price tag. (Suggestion for next thread title - in homage to previous musical theme)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 21/11/2014 19:50

RESPECT ...

minklundy · 21/11/2014 20:00

I think zoolinguist mixes greek and latin so it might be zooglot, zoophone or bestialinguist (sounds wrong).

I was sure I had heard a word for it used in reference to St Francis but it seems no such word exists.

Maybe we should coin one. a 'jazzerist'?(again sounds a bit wrong) and can they only talk to pigs? Porculinguistics.

minklundy · 21/11/2014 20:01

Liking it lillian

Icimoi · 21/11/2014 20:43

I just knew Justin would be bidding as soon as Ruth suddenly seemed to remember, weeks after everyone else, that the shareholders might want a payout.

Betcha she's going to be desperate to take the offer whilst Deavid angsts about selling out and doing down Brine and Adam. Then Lynda will discover the planning application for a large industrial unit, a sewage farm and a hideous housing estate, and the whole idea will implode.

R4 · 21/11/2014 21:01

If I was Ruth I would be p**ed off. Justin should have come to make the offer personally, not send his despised lackey.Hmm

unitarian · 21/11/2014 21:06

I hope there's never a scene with Pip and Helen. We won't be able to tell them apart!

The Confusion of Johns shows how too many stories going at once works against the editor's intention of attracting new listeners.

Yes, David and Ruth could come under pressure from the sibs to sell if they waver at all in their intention to move. And they will waver.
I suspect they would rather turn down the money than sell to Justin and it's clear that Justin will buy it if it stays on the market.

But, yes, a romance between Pip and Charlie is on the cards.

R4 · 21/11/2014 21:12

P.S. Do you know that you can access the Oxford English Dictionary via your library card.
They say zoolingualism is a made up word has no dictionary entries.

LillianGish · 21/11/2014 21:13

I thought Charlie was gay?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 21/11/2014 21:14

So are pip and Charlie the Romeo and Juliet as he wants to follow Shakespeare? Of try both end up dead at the end I'm fine with that

I can't believe the dopeys will be thick enough to think Justin will have Brookfield as a second home and care for the bees and bert and Freda. There is clearly an underlying business reason that will see Brookfield demolished far beyond a road cutting it in two.

They're really over egging the pudding now.

I can only assume Justin is the un acknowledged illegitimate son of Phil and is now out to seek his revenge on ambridge as a whole for being shunned.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 21/11/2014 21:18

Clearly Justin has secretly had a survey done on Brookfield land and knows that there is a previously unsuspected seam of gold under Lakey Hill.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 21/11/2014 21:23

It's the gateway to hell under lakey hill. Maybe he plans to use it as an Eco friendly energy source

nauticant · 21/11/2014 22:39

The listening I've done LillianGish suggests he definitely swings one way but could also swing the other. But then as my interest lessens, they could have said on Wednesday he's a fugitive Nazi war criminal and I'd not have noticed.

I've listened all my life. There wasn't much listening when I was at university and when I lived abroad. For the first time ever I think it might be time to knock it on the head. It's like when Corrie moved from character studies to barneys. Once the characters become interchangeable it's just actors speaking words.

Bluestocking · 21/11/2014 23:32

Could you believe the cheek of Charlie, blethering on about the bright future of farming by remote control after sacking Adam and co at least partly because Debbie oversees things from Hungary?

PigletJohn · 22/11/2014 00:22

Justin might be planning an estate of 800 houses

800 x £500,000 = more than £7m

minklundy · 22/11/2014 01:42

Or he may be planning to buy B'field. Put home farm out of business buy that too. Then merge the whole lot into a megafarm with the mega dairy as it will all be adjacent?

unitarian · 22/11/2014 02:23

That's a very good point, Bluestocking. It might make it into the script, perhaps uttered by David when he puts principle before lucre and decides to stay put.

I really think he will, especially when Shula and Kenton suddenly become overly keen for him to move to Prudhoe so they can get their shares and when Linda dins it into his head that Justin connived to get Route B adopted, and can just as easily get it called off if he buys the place, thus increasing its worth as a country residence.
Justin will have an eye on capital gains tax, which he would be liable for if he sells it on too soon, even if Brian & Adam appear to have overlooked it in their plans to sell off the house and a lump of land.

I'd forgotten all about Bert & Freda's cottage, and I'll bet the writers had for a while too!

PetulaGordino · 22/11/2014 05:22

If Justin is found to be up to dodgy dealing (official legal term) with council, could he continue as head of demara capital (not sure whether he owns it or not)? Could he be considered not fit and proper to be in charge? Which could lead to Brian being reinstated (if he wanted to) and status quo restored re BL contract etc, or at least less of a risk to home farm

Though I do think it could be very interesting if fortunes are reversed such that the home farm lot are struggling instead

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 22/11/2014 06:50

Re Charlie - they've definitely been trying to make us think he is after Adam, but he was so much nicer when talking to Pip. No doubt they find it amusing to confuse us.

Re the two Johns - now there I don't think the SWs are at fault. John Archer and John Tregorran are two such distinct entities in my mind that I'd never even noticed they had the same name until it was pointed out here.

(Justin Ellliot having the same name as Coiander's partner OTOH rather suggests the new regime riding roughshod over the old - they could so easily have chosen something else. Poor Coriander; lacking an Archer baby I doubt she'll ever be heard to speak again.)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 22/11/2014 06:53

(Why are you up so early Petula?)

JollyGolightly · 22/11/2014 07:13

I like New Pip. Well, I didn't turn off the radio when she appeared, which is a big improvement on Old Pip.

I hope Jess turns up soon with spawn of Knob looking exactly like his Dad, as newborns do. Then there will be no doubting the sire.

PetulaGordino · 22/11/2014 07:31

Dp on night out, came home at 4am, woke me up, he then fell asleep and I was wide awake after that! Bastard
