I just hope we have a good, well written Grundy storyline and that the hellrob story doesn't get overly dramatic with the Jess storyline

I do think there is a lot wrong with the sw at the moment with both story and quality of writing.

If we want positives - I think johnny has been a good introduction. Hellrob is also good but I hope they don't rush it.

Maybe Helen has been allowed to do the play but we will get a violent reaction from rob if he has deemed her to be too flirtatious. Christmas must be a good time of year for the relationship to descend further.

Will they be brave enough to have a long running DV story though? Or will to be considered that they are 'normalising' it? For me the outcome of this story should be about showing how hard it is to get out of an abusive relationship.

yup i won't be too happy if she just realises one day, he gets his marching orders and off he goes with no problems.
lovely thought that would be in RL that is rarely the way it works.

unitarian · 12/11/2014 15:26

I take your point R4 about all property in a marriage being jointly owned! I just thought it a bit odd that Brian of all people said he and Jenny want to buy Brookfield when it was Adam's idea. I didn't express it very well.

Nigel is my all-time favourite character.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/11/2014 15:42

Cathy has been relegated to being a never-speaker like Sabrina.
So not all the changes are bad...

Hm... if Peggy does FOHMC, how much does Tom inherit? Enough to come back and put in a counter-offer for at least some of Brookfield.

(I don't know what some of you might have been thinking but 'FOHMC' was intended as Flounces Off Her Mortal Coil.)

LillianGish · 12/11/2014 15:48

Another vote for Nelson - simply irreplaceable. Also and at about the same time David's ex-girlfriend Sophie - such a distinctive voice.

cheminotte · 12/11/2014 16:12

Flounces well of course!! How obvious!
I do miss Nigel and how him and Kenton were together. Also Sid even though he was pretty grumpy and bigoted.

PetulaGordino · 12/11/2014 16:12

Goddit errol Grin

mkmjimmy · 12/11/2014 16:58

I just wondered if someone on here could clarify how Ruth and David are going to sell Brookfield and get round the will and the inheritance thing. I thought if it was sold they had to divide the money up? I feel like I've missed something.

I've lurked on this board for a while as its my main way of catching up with the stories as I only listen intermittently - and frankly this board is way more entertaining than a lot of the episodes.

unitarian · 12/11/2014 17:12

If ever I came close to tipping the radio out of the window it was this time last year with the HWMNBN sage. I hated that.

Now I'm generally happy with TA though I don't like the move towards replacing actors with better known actors and bringing in new characters for the same reason. I could do without Carol but I like Johnnie.

I like the general buzz that is there now and I like to try to guess where the SWs will go with a particular development. Each one has many possible outcomes which I enjoy.
Lindy is doing a play after all and Eddie will produce some hilarity with his omen-reading turkeys. The Hell/Rob story is fascinating and a bit of upheaval is refreshing.

I'll give Mr O'Connor 7/10 so far and I suspect that provoking controversy was always on his agenda and he'll calm down a bit now that he's achieved that.

Bluestocking · 12/11/2014 17:19

Does anyone remember the year of The Grundy Wurrld of Chrissmurrz? I'm hoping that Eddie's Mystic Turkeys go some way to reproducing the sheer listening-through-the-fingers horror of that experience.

Primadonnagirl · 12/11/2014 18:00

Apologies for being thick but I've always struggled to understand who is who, but how will Brian and Jenny buying the farm keep it in the family?? Jenny is Peggy's daughter??

PseudoBadger · 12/11/2014 18:05

Jenny is David's cousin.

Sorry I posted and ran this morning. I've been out at a funeral today.

I meant that I don't post so much on this thread so much because the thread is so negative. So many people saying "i don't know why I listen any more its do bad!" Well, dont then! Problem solved. Except I suspect that would spoil your fun!

Sorry, I've had a few wines and a big dose of "what the heck" today.

Primadonnagirl · 12/11/2014 18:31

Pseud How are their respective parents then! Jill is David's Mum I know.Sorry I have tried finding a family tree sad that I am!

PseudoBadger · 12/11/2014 18:57

Phil (David's dad) had a brother Jack, who was Peggy's first Jack, and was Jenny's dad.

Did I hear that right? Roy is sous chef at GG?

unitarian · 12/11/2014 19:14

Ahah! The idea is to sell on the farmhouse straight away. Poor bees.

Stopanuary · 12/11/2014 19:14

No, no, no, no, no! A most unlikely suggestion!

BringYourOwnSnowman · 12/11/2014 19:31

Well I didn't bother listening tonight so I guess I am no longer qualified to post on this thread.

Perhaps I will be back listening in a few weeks time but at the moment listening makes me feel worse than not listening which isn't much help. Feel sad that I've lost one of my sanity savers but I just can't bear the Brookfield nonsense anymore

ErrolTheDragon · 12/11/2014 19:37

You'd think that farmers would know better than to count their chickens before they're hatched, wouldn't you. But there's Brian and David both doing it.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 12/11/2014 19:44

BYOS, I've stopped too & it makes me sad as well.

Making a point of listening in the kitchen at 7pm has been a thing for me for so many years Sad

S O'C is a bastard of the highest order Angry

BringYourOwnSnowman · 12/11/2014 19:46

Maybe we should start an archers exile thread!

PseudoBadger · 12/11/2014 19:48

BYOS you're welcome here please don't leave, I don't mind if you don't listen.
