Just don't be so careless with your watch Helen

Next you'll be planning your journeys around it so you can listen to it in the car!

Oh dear. Here I am at 6.48 putting off an essential shopping trip otherwise we starve tonight till after 7.15 (can't listen to TA on the way, it's only a few minutes' drive). And because I'm shopping late, we'll be eating late.

There's no hope for me, is there?

Redcliff · 11/03/2014 19:00

I have timed my journey home from work so I can listen - no shame in it at all!

unitarian · 11/03/2014 19:03

Better still, Peggy applauds Tony's success and re-thinks her will!

GypsyFloss · 11/03/2014 19:11

Titchy is being uber controlling tonight and showing his not so lovely side.

GypsyFloss · 11/03/2014 19:15

He made my skin crawl.

Northernlurker · 11/03/2014 19:16

The utter, utter bastard!!!! Thank goodness Adam and Ian could see straight through him.

Northernlurker · 11/03/2014 19:17

I actually feel quite tearful when he really gets going - poor, poor Helen. I know she's a pita but this is awful.

Iwantacampervan · 11/03/2014 19:17

Wow - how controlling was that ! Well done to Ian and Adam for seeing through him - what will they do to support Helen (not that she will think she wants support yet)?

My guess on the 'star' is something to do with cycling as there was a heavy hint about Ian watching the Tour de France and then suddenly wanting to take part in the challenge.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 11/03/2014 19:18

Completely belittling her at every turn - yuk!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 11/03/2014 19:26

Poor Mr Mimsy had TA inflicted on him tonight and I was relieved to see he raised an eyebrow at many points. I cannot imagine what kind of eedjit feels it appropriate to tell the cook a few minutes before the guests arrive that her menu plan is rubbish and she needs to do something else. And for her just to accept it and go along with it!

The worst bit, though, was when he told her not to go to Henry. That's going to escalate, isn't it?

ComposHat · 11/03/2014 19:28

Cue the campaign to isolate her from Adam & Ian.

WillieWaggledagger · 11/03/2014 19:41

That was quite stressful to listen to - that sort of niggly criticism and faux-jokey put-downs that will make Helen feel inadequate and second-guessing herself

unitarian · 11/03/2014 19:52

The fish kettle got a mention!

GypsyFloss · 11/03/2014 19:52

You're right Willie it was stressful and uncomfortable. It has been superbly written and as much as I dislike Titchynob I think the actor is playing him very well.

How long before Henry gets disciplined with a smack?

GypsyFloss · 11/03/2014 19:53

A little bit of me wondered whether he would hit her tonight.

AskBasil · 11/03/2014 19:53

Dammit I can't believe I missed it tonight.

Sounds like the Archers are going to make a proper effort to do an abuse storyline.

Anyone remember when they did Shula being hit by Cameron Frazer was it?
It was the most ridiculous storyline; they'd been together about 5 minutes, it was their first argument and he hit her, so she dumped him.

Which of course everyone would do if that's how DV actually played out in RL. But the priming to accept violence by undermining the victim's confidence, sometimes takes years and if TA do it properly, this storyline could be excruciating for a long time yet... it's encouraging that they're doing it properly showing how someone vulnerable can be prey for abusive people. They may stick to it being just pure EA and not go in for physical violence at all, but it's great that they're actually portraying it at all.

Redcliff · 11/03/2014 19:54

He was so creepy tonight - even though Ian saw him for what he was Adam seemed more forgiving - no? Poor Henry - I am sure there are plenty of parents that will leave a child to settle (each to his own) but that isn't Helen's style at all. I suspect some sort of neglect story line happening and Pat getting involved.

BasketzatDawn · 11/03/2014 19:55

I'm finding the NastyRob stuff quite stressful too. It's so well done though.

I reckon the reason MrBasketz and I have made it through 20 odd years of 'almost happiness' is that both like The Archers. Sometimes I fear it's all we have in common. In the dark ages he used to tape the episodes I missed if I was working late. Remember them cassette things, old ones? Smile I used to time my trips back (I commuted to Edinburgh for a while) too - I'd even do a vaguely unnecessary supermarket trip so I could be driving at 7 PM. Then I didn't care if I got caught in traffic.

I'd love to get MrB the ArchersAnarchists sub for his birthday, but it's not till Nov. Ds2 would like it too - his b/day isn't till Jan Sad. I think we may get it anyway .....

kernowal · 11/03/2014 19:58

Hello, I'm very excited to have discovered this thread. At last I've found real live people who care about Roof, loath Horrible Hellin and won't look strangely bemused if I say that one of my most treasured possessions is one of Daveed's scripts (signed by him, Shula and Brine) from the week after The Scream. Please can I join you for idle gossip & speculation?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 11/03/2014 20:09

that remark about the kitchen at the Lodge was unbelievably clunky - surely Rob would be subtler than that?

PseudoBadger · 11/03/2014 20:14

Oh gosh new thread is on its way...

GypsyFloss · 11/03/2014 20:16

Was he marking his territory talking about the Lodge? I suspect he was , I also felt that he was struggling to control his latent homophobia by being all alpha male.
