BitOutOfPractice & Iwantacampervan - i feel your pain.

Two DC here who wait until The Archers is on before telling me the day's news. Every evening!

Why do they do that????

"Next you'll be planning your journeys around it so you can listen to it in the car!"

Yup, this is me packing up at work so I can be in the car on the dot of 19.02

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 10/03/2014 19:16

Oh God. Celebrity appearance alert. Any guesses who it's going to be?

PseudoBadger · 10/03/2014 19:18

Well it must be a Rugby player if Rhys is involved?

I think there was a hint of this sleb elsewhere... Do you want to know?

That was quite a good episode. Would it be wrong as middle aged Ma to think Fat Dan sounds rather charming ? Grin

Swannykazoo · 10/03/2014 19:23

Sounded male rather than Lizzie Yarnold (apologies if that's not quite her name - skeleton bob lass). Is Wiggo a fan?
By the way Fat Dan's assault course sounded truly lame - a few tyres to run through and a bit of netting? Not exactly Tough Mudder

I must have been a very scary mother indeed as mine learned very young that complete silence during TA was essential. I vividly remember my son creeping in during TA on his birthday and indicating in dumb show that he would like a packet of crisps. I bundled him out of the room as fast as I could so the crunching would not interrupt matters. If I recall correctly that was the evening Debbie worked out who Ruairidh's father was, which was one of the single best episodes I've ever heard.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/03/2014 19:47

My stereotypical assumption was that a sporting hero of Rhys would be a rugger player.

Vesta, you have to studiously avoid this thread when scanning 'threads I'm on' if you're behind with your listening.

Oh, I just found the Episode Guide - 'Tensions rise at Blossom Hill Cottage, and Rob wants things his own way.' now there's a surprise.

Mine is a fiver on the Welsh darts legend Leighton Rees.

HumphreyCobbler · 10/03/2014 20:06

I read this thread before listening quite often. I find it helps me appreciate the episode properly Grin

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/03/2014 20:32

None of mine trod on the flower beds more than once. Now that would be an epitaph to be proud of.

You know that thing you get, when you're suddenly certain that something insignificant is going to be life-changing? I has that feeling when Debbie turned over a photo of Alice as a baby... it's true Mimsy that whole story was shattering.

The Debbie/Ruari (???) bit meant she didn't speak to Brian for months, didn't it? Or was that Alice? Or was it both of them?

The whole Brian/Siobhan thing was gripperama from start to tragic finish

As was the Roy/Hayley/Kate-taking-Phoebe-away-when-she-was-tiny thing (iirc Peggy was quite sound with Kate at one point but I don't think that was it)

(& other stuff but my mind's gone blank...)

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 10/03/2014 20:51

if it's someone Welsh it must be that Halfpenny chap, surely?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 10/03/2014 20:52

\link{http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leigh_Halfpenny\young Leigh Halfpenny} - he is very cute (& younger than most of my children Shock)

JollyGolightly · 10/03/2014 20:55

Oh please will somebody kindly talk me through the Brian/Siobhan thing in a bit more detail? I remember her vaguely...then Brian showing off photos of R as a baby (to whom? who knew?), then Siobhan dying in Ireland and a woman trying to persuade him to have Ruaridh come and live with him and Jennydarling. This was when I was younger and had an exciting life, before I discovered a true Archers-listening way of living

Now I shriek "Ten minutes! Ten bloody minutes" with the best of them. I know it's not ten minutes really but somehow it seems more impressive that I require only ten in exchange for the hundreds of minutes of the day and night that I slavishly devote to my family.

Jolly, Brine & Siobhan had an affair which resulted in Ruari, who she took back to Ireland

But then she was diagnosed with terminal cancer & Jennifer agreed that Ruari could come & live at Home Farm with his father

Siobhan had a mother & sister iirc, not sure why he didn't stay with them

(as you see I only remember the bare bones of it although I was genuinely gripped at the time!)

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 10/03/2014 21:16

I think Debbie was pally with Siobhan which made Brian's betrayal much worse for her (although he's not her father, he is her dad)

ppeatfruit · 10/03/2014 21:33

You've given me another good laugh today TheOneWith Grin i just assumed that Composhat would be shortened to compost Grin i don't have nothin' as clever as an autocorrect (and if i did and it's anything like predictive mobile phone txting it 'd be far less amusing !!.

JollyGolightly I remember it in parts too; she lived abroad for a bit with a fella and Brine used to swan over for his cocoa when he was supposed to be at the hungarian place with Debbie. I THINK that debbie knew I'm not sure. Sorry not much help I know.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 10/03/2014 21:37
Grin
JollyGolightly · 10/03/2014 21:48

Thanks ppeat and theonewith So was the affair undiscovered until Ruaridh turned up?
