MrsCampbellBlack · 02/12/2013 18:26

Just listening to last night's episode. God, I do wish that for once Eddie and Clarrie would acknowledge when Ed does something reprehensible rather than always try to blame Will as well.

I know Will is hard to warm too but honestly, if my brother had an affair with my wife etc etc and then shot my dog - I'd be a tad pissed off too.

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/12/2013 18:28

And why didn't Eddie say 'look Ed did mean to kill a dog but he didn't realise it was Baz' - rather than as it seems that he's denying that he intended to kill anything. [overthinking]

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/12/2013 18:29

Jess scares me a bit.

GypsyFloss · 02/12/2013 18:35

I want the Jess/Rob story line to be good. But I have a sinking feeling it'll be meh. The last great story, for me, was Brian and Siobhan.

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 02/12/2013 18:49

Hmmm... The last great story? I thought Matt actually being convicted and sentenced was pretty impressive - too often they sweep things under the carpet and don't push on to the natural conclusion. (Lilian and Paul f'rinstance...)

But the wild black and white indie film episode with Maurice and Jazzer was just ... 22nd century Archers.

I know who Jess reminds me of - Coraline's other mother in the early part if the film....

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 02/12/2013 18:52

Jess is an animatronic robot, right?

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 02/12/2013 18:57

I was perhaps wanting to focus on the cookies and smiles. ... Xmas Grin

LondonMother · 02/12/2013 19:43

Shula! How do Dan and Alistair put up with her?

barbarianoftheuniverse · 02/12/2013 19:51

Just a quiet boast.
I have a lovely Ambridge cook book edited by Martha from the shop.

It's Clary I'm sorry for.

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 02/12/2013 22:30

OMG. How long has it been since I thought of Martha?!

Thank you so much for reminding me of her. (At the very edge of my memory.....That old, old radio.)

Are the recipes good?

BitOutOfPractice · 02/12/2013 22:40

I thought clary was pathetic last night. Slightly hysterical. And unconvincing.

I too would have to admit that, despite being an utter wet wank, Will is the wronged party in the Ed, Emma, Will love triangle and if I were him I'd find it hard to forgive too.

If Emma posted on relationships here she'd be flamed to Kingdom come!

Gigondas · 02/12/2013 22:45

I do feel sorry for Clarrie but completely agree that whinging git tho he is, will is wronged and ed did mean to kill the dog. But it's hardly new is it that the sons don't get on . Also hardly call Nic being supportive of will in circumstances as "taking sides". What would she do?

But as for Shula FFs.alienate your dh and ds. Let Darrell do what he likes as his life is dark -what next? Shoot up? Burn the house down? Why-is this all because of her much discussed faith?Confused

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 02/12/2013 22:55

Oh, interesting. I was convinced. And anxious.

I thought there might be some foreshadowing of really serious illness for her (because suddenly, so upset, she reminded me of poor overworked Betty Tucker. And she will be overworked this Christmas....) Clarrie in hospital would inevitably bring the brothers together - since nothing else she's done has worked...

But it was fun to see at least one of the Sterlings getting involved in the fuss.

R4 · 02/12/2013 23:30

Oh, interesting. I was convinced. And anxious.

Seriously? I thought the acting was awful and her 'accent' is excruciating. I was near a radio at 2 o'clock this afternoon and actually switched to another channel so I didn't have to hear her again.

R4 · 02/12/2013 23:35

But as for Shula ...

What, you mean some other character was being unconvincing too? You don't say.

I'm really losing it with TA. I bet Graham Seed is glad now that he is out of it.Sad

curlew · 02/12/2013 23:39

"I know Will is hard to warm to"

Please can I nominate that as the understatement of the millennium......!

ppeatfruit · 03/12/2013 10:09

In our village there are 2 sisters who live wthin 100yds of each other they don't speak at all. Their brother hung himself and they came together for about 2 weeks then, after the funeral, they went back to not speaking again Sad

ppeatfruit · 03/12/2013 10:13

Minimammoth "Don't be late for rehearsals and don't mess about in the back row of the merry maids please!!!!". Xmas Wink Xmas Grin

OddFodd · 03/12/2013 11:12

I don't think Ed meant to shoot Baz, he did mean to shoot the dog - he just didn't realise it was Baz (what a stupid name for a dog).

I hate Will and Ed is increasingly getting on my nerves. I'm really bored of the feuding brothers storyline.

As for Shula - FGS! What on earth is she doing? And why is she being so hysterical about Dan going to Leeds for the weekend when he's just hanging round the house (and that 'changing his ticket' thing was massively unlikely - why did he do that?)? I also find it very unlikely that Darryl, never having been much of a boozer as far as we know, is suddenly pouring cider over piles of video tapes and going to bed with a bottle of vodka. But then TA doesn't have a great track record with mental health/drugs storylines (Jazzer's unlikely brain damage and recovery)

R4 · 03/12/2013 12:26

I also find it very unlikely that ...

What was that I just said about unconvincing / unlikely / unbelievable / etc / etc. I hardly recognise anybody anymore, cannot make a 'connection' to characters and thus am losing interest.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 03/12/2013 13:25

I've not heard it since Sunday, but I expect I'm naive in hoping that Daniel has fucked off back to whatever planet of entitlement and arsiness he popped back from?

Mind you - isn't it nice when you've got an Archers script to write and not enough time to do it, and you realise you have a handy NHS pamphlet on cataracts that you can just copy up and give to a character to read aloud instead?

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 03/12/2013 13:28

Do you know, thinking about unlikely Archers recoveries (cf. comas, heart disease, premature birth etc) - I actually remember some dialogue with Jazzer after his ecstacy brain damage, where he explained sorrowfully to Emma 'it's breen damage ah've got, it doesnae ever go awee, y'ken' (or something).

He must be so relieved!

OddFodd · 03/12/2013 13:35

Ha R4 - we're of a mind. As are you and I, steamingnit - I said much the same about the leaflet :o

I really should stop listening but I just can't bring myself to. I'm addicted basically Blush
