New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

Interesting link pseudo badger. I see that

"Firearms offences, except for minor technicalities, almost always attract prison sentences, and have been dealt with increasingly severely by the courts in recent years."

So Will could have Ed sent to jail if he was so minded. The defence might call Alastair in to give evidence that he told Ed dogs were carriers, then on cross examination it would emerge that he went back and clarified how low the risk actually was. The history between the brothers could be brought out in Court.

PseudoBadger · 30/11/2013 05:32

Yes, if only the SWs do some research this could be interesting.....

I'm an Ed fan usually so I'm not too happy with his recent behaviour. I thought the same about the feed bill.

But (sorry to be technical) Ed was using a shotgun not a firearm. They are separate things and a firearm needs a different licence. Firearms are much more dangerous which is why offences result in prison sentences. I don't think the same applies to shotguns.

Given Will's mercenary nature, how long before he asks Ed to refund the cost of Baz given that a puppy bred to be a good gun dog will cost hundreds of pounds?

ReallyOverThis · 30/11/2013 06:20

ladyflip don't apologise for being technical, I had no idea a shotgun was not a type of firearm. You learn something new every day...

Ladyflip · 30/11/2013 06:53

In layman's terms, it is, but for the shooting fraternity it's very different.
here

Applications for firearms licenses are more detailed than shotgun licences.

The story lines are putting me off listening again, at the moment we seem to have

Helen being very upset about her affair with Rob being over
Lynda upsetting people by changing their recipes
Kirsty struggling to rehearse the panto with Rob
Ed & Will back at arms (I'd really hoped they'd their relationship was improving)
Ed having problems with his stock
Darryl's breakdown worsening & putting Shula's relationship with Daniel under pressure

Thsnk heavens Joe & Oliver have got over their issues.

Are there any positive story lines? Only David & Ruth's Silver Wedding anniversary party that I can think of.

Bluestocking · 30/11/2013 09:03

You forgot Jill's cataracts!
Will all those whose recipes have been fiddled with decide to boycott Lynda's play? That would SATTC.

Bea · 30/11/2013 13:32

Oh YAWN! Will! as someone had already said! It's time to get over it!
I like Ed (even though he's going a bit bezerkoid about dogs on his land!)
Will is just a complete arse! and he has the most irritating voice in Christendom!

Panzee · 01/12/2013 09:58

The Radio 4 Appeal is about a charity for people like Darrell. Is that where this is going? Wink

HumphreyCobbler · 01/12/2013 11:42

Just heard the dead dog storyline.

I find it amazing that I can even hate Will when his poor dog has been shot. I am automatically on Ed's side just because Will is so whiny and annoying.

I think it was a good moment of genuine drama though, something I have not heard on TA for ages.

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 01/12/2013 11:43

He shot a dog Sad - I am quite disproportionately upset about that. I'll never be able to like Ed again.

The Darrell storyline continues to irritate. I'd rather hear more of Helen's whining (and that's saying something!) than yet more depressed Darrell. Though I have to say kudos to the writers, they are creating a very convincing portrayal of just how frustrating it is to deal with someone with mental health problems.

lljkk · 01/12/2013 13:01

Will is vile, just horrible. I rather wish Ed had shot Will instead.

Isn't Daniel supposed to be off at university or something? With his grand private ed & experience of travel why is he around at all? GET A JOB.

I can't fathom why Lynda changed any recipes; who else is going to buy the stupid cookbook except people with their own recipes in it??

BitOutOfPractice · 01/12/2013 13:10

I find both brothers equallly pathetic tbh

ppeatfruit · 01/12/2013 13:18

What are they thinking? No input from Nic about Baz???? Or from Susan and Neil (it's odd they're not in the house when Emms and Ed were there esp. Neil he doesn't have a full time job does he?). Confused Hmm

Minimammoth · 01/12/2013 15:21

I look into my crystal ball and see a bbc publication coming up. The Ambridge cookbook edited by Linda, is sure to be on the press as we speak. I am surprised it's not going to be available from Amzon for Christmas

ppeatfruit · 01/12/2013 15:47

One of my most perused cook books is called Jennifer Alldridge's ARCHERS' cookbook Grin.dd1 gave to me for Xmas 1994 Shock Blush!!

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 01/12/2013 16:09

The Christmas appeal is always for St Martin in the Fields iirc so the Darrell connection is a coincidence. I don't see where the story is going now as Jill has stopped driving & can't put us him out of misery by killing him in her car

Minimammoth · 01/12/2013 16:20

I hope you have not dallied with the recipes Ppeat.

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 01/12/2013 22:24

All those people who think Darrell and Will sound annoying - surely you would admit that you haven't known true irritation until you've listened to an episode that was almost all Jess?

I seriously think this may finish me....

(Festive name-change by the by. Less scary.[tchgrin])

GypsyFloss · 01/12/2013 22:54

We've had the brothers not speaking at turkey plucking time before. How boring to have it all again so soon.

Jess either sound sounds madly enthusiastic or slightly cynical when talking to Rob or even about Rob to others. I can't quite decide whether she has doubts about him.

PseudoBadger · 01/12/2013 23:12

They're not turkey pluckers, they're turkey plucker's sons :o

OP posts:
GypsyFloss · 02/12/2013 05:45

Grin PseudoBadger

Minimammoth · 02/12/2013 08:04

I think Jess is going to turn, and we'll all be siding with Rob before we know it.

ZeroSomeFestiveGameThingy · 02/12/2013 08:34

Are you thinking of his mystery scars? Or the suggestion that he cooks - but she decides what they eat?. Or that he seems to have to keep her constantly entertained? (I wish these things were clues but more likely to be incidental filling...)

I'm slightly worried about Kirstie's growing obsession with Rob.Xmas Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 02/12/2013 11:13

They are unpleasant turkey plucker's sons
