New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

No, it's Caroline Harrington. I'm enjoying this week. I keep getting behind and listening to several episodes back to back. Does anybody else find it's more enjoyable that way? Might even end up being an omnibus listener again...

Hope Pseudo is OK.

Somethingyesterday · 03/10/2013 20:47

Yes - you're in our thoughts PseudoSmile

It was a nice episode tonight.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 03/10/2013 20:50

Thanks, LondonMother Smile

She's very good anyway. Emma's 2 NVQs, Kenton's turns tonight, & Lynda's sniffs, go a long way towards making it worth listening again!

TallGiraffe · 03/10/2013 21:44

I'm a day behind but the Darryl thing is still bothering me! Thanks to all on the previous thread who answered my query btw.

  1. Why is Darryl homeless in Ambridge? It must be costing him money going between job centre / Elona's place to drop off money / Ambridge. There are no jobs/houses.
  1. Why has Peggy not been included in this storyline?
  1. Why has everyone suddenly forgotten they knew him pre- homelessness? In our village it woul be inconceivable for someone to sleep in a doorway that had previously been a resident. You aren't just neighbours in a village, you are proper friends that are useful in a crisis like the 12ft snowdrifts that we had earlier in the year
TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 03/10/2013 21:57

It makes sense to me - he is not & has never been a "villager" in the normal sense. He's an incomer & a strange one at that

TallGiraffe · 03/10/2013 22:03

But in that case why is he still there? If he has no friends to rely on then surely his job/house prospects would be better served in a town?

WipsGlitter · 03/10/2013 22:06

I agree with someone on the previous thread, I think Daryll either going to commit suicide or freeze to death.

Somethingyesterday · 03/10/2013 22:09

Well I'll try q2.

I don't know what's in the SWs minds but I should think D would be going out of his way to avoid Peggy (while still inexplicably hanging around Ambridge...) Given how close his (ex) wife was to her, and the fact that Ilona had to leave the house Peggy arranged for her, because of the break up, he wouldn't expect a friendly welcome from her.

And on top of that the dog fighting was on Brian and Jennifer's farm. The SWs have written him into a very dark spot indeed.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 03/10/2013 22:11

Is he hanging around Ambridge because of his daughters?

PseudoBadger · 03/10/2013 23:23

I'm fine thanks, don't worry about me :)

Lynda's pronunciation of "aperçu". Pure Archers gold.

LongDeadMotherofHorrors · 03/10/2013 23:51

Anyone know why Clarrie's voice has changed recently - she sounds as though she has a sore throat all the time.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 03/10/2013 23:53

Different actor, LongDead (is that a Halloween name or are you really struggling? Grin)

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 03/10/2013 23:54

Kenton's impression of Lynda's aperçu was pretty good too, bluestocking!

Bluestocking · 03/10/2013 23:58

Indeed it was. Kenton was on fine form, dropping clangers left and right.

LongDeadMotherofHorrors · 04/10/2013 00:01

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile.....thanks for Clarriefying that one Grin. Not struggling (though of course that is a matter of perspective), but switched name years ago for Hellow een and have not been on here sufficiently frequently to bother changing it again.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 04/10/2013 09:50

Arf at Clarriefying
Marking place

TheSilverySoothsayer · 04/10/2013 10:12

Ditto. Haven't heard yesterdays epi yet, but now looking forward to it...

ppeatfruit · 04/10/2013 10:32

Yes I liked the 'let's stop Lynda from raising the tone' meeting too Grin I reckon they should have a Mexican Hat dance evening complete with Pinata Grin

How's this for solving the 'what shall we do with dead and nearly dead oldies and troublemakers' They hold the Harvest Supper in the Village hall (Jack has been given a night out to attend) where Darrell accidentally causes a fire killing the number of characters they need to kill!! Sad Shock

I got the idea from Hollyoaks where they got rid of some bad actors in a fire (DD1 worked on it)!!!

Somethingyesterday · 04/10/2013 19:16

Oh good god! Is there somewhere I can hand in my notice?

MrsCampbellBlack · 04/10/2013 19:16

Love! love! For goodness sakes.

I like Linda and get annoyed when the others take the piss the whole time, don't see any of them stepping up to do all the organising she does. Easy to be a critic. And saint jill really gets on my wick. (missed the end of last night's episode so maybe they were all terribly lovely to her)

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 04/10/2013 19:18

I like Lynda too, but she doesn't half set herself up for mickey-taking!

(& I hope to god that as Tom & Kirsty don't need to be clandestine we will be spared more audible snogs )

MrsCampbellBlack · 04/10/2013 19:20

God, I take this all way tooo seriously Wink

itried · 04/10/2013 19:23

Hoorah, Mrs CampbellB! Someone else who finds Jill insufferable!

MrsCampbellBlack · 04/10/2013 19:23

Can you imagine kirsty posting in relationships - not sure Tom would be considered a safe bet
