Helen has a complex past. In addition to an unhealthy obsession with cheese, she had relationship with the dour Greg, gamekeeper. Will was his apprentice. Greg suffered from depression and had many arguments with his ex wife etc. Ultimately he shot himself. In the wake of his suicide Helen developed anorexia. She had also of course struggled to cope with the death of her brother John. She was hospitalised but made what was frankly a miracle recovery. She then lurched from disaster to crisis menwise and finally decided that what she really wanted was a baby.
So the Ambridge fertility fairy stepped in and the AI clinic had a cancellation which bumped her to the top of the list AND she got pg first time. Pat and particularly Tony found it hard to accept. Shortly after Christmas when she was about 36-37 weeks pg she and the rest of the clan went to Lower Loxley for some festive cheer. Alan the vicar's daughter, Amy, who is a midwife, noticed her very swollen ankles and complaint of a headache and insisted on taking her to hospital. Pre-eclampsia was diagnosed and Baby Henry delivered. At about the same time Nigel plunged off the roof on to the ancestral cobbles........

Pat is very protective of Helen really. Having lost one child she cannot bear anything to happen to the other two and she knows that Helen is (still) very fragile.

Amazing. Continuity has just given a veiled warning about Helen and Rob. Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 07/10/2013 19:25

I heard that and then my DH, who's away, chose that moment to phone me. I'll have to try to catch the repeat tomorrow.

Somethingyesterday · 07/10/2013 19:38

He rang you during TA?

GrinLTB...

LondonMother · 07/10/2013 19:47

Took the words out of my mouth, Something! I can truthfully say that not one single member of my family would ring me between 7.02 and 7.15 except in the case of a dire emergency. When my daughter's appendix perforated it was a mark of how seriously ill she was that I switched off TA to call the ambulance. (She made a full recovery, btw, and I caught up with the omnibus.)

ErrolTheDragon · 07/10/2013 19:51

I knew someone would say that Grin.

PseudoBadger · 07/10/2013 19:59

Sorry for delay, they do electives in the basement so not reception! Caoimhe Lily born 17:11 weight 7lb 1oz. Not the most fun section in terms of cannulation and epidural siting but she's worth it. Also a pre eclampsia bite just before with very high BP and ++ urine got the medics all excited!

Congratulations, Pseudo! Don't risk listening to tonight's episode until your blood pressure is right down. Helen was bemoaning how awful it is being the OW. I wanted to push her into a vat of her own cheese.

kiriwawa · 07/10/2013 20:44
