Archers - It's time to put it down like a TB riddled badger

I have been a devoted listener for a fair few years. I have cried, cheered, and giggled through various ups and downs.
But I am now finding it so depressing. With the current episodic storylines - which are all quite unpleasant - you no longer get that lovely feeling that you are eavesdropping on a community that you would quite like to live in.
It just feels a bit nasty. It also feels a bit like Eastenders.

It feels ridiculous to be sad, but the good people of Ambridge have been my companions all the way through having very young children. They felt like friends when I hadn't had. Grown up conversation all day.

Hopefully this will pass and I can come back when they' ve finished mucking it up.

I was thinking about starting a thread called

Lilian! Shock Shock Shock

but this seems like a safer place to post the same sentiments...

Anyone been listening long enough to know if she ever played away while she was married to Ralph Bellamy? (I think I got the name right there; please tell me if I'm wrong.)

But in this relationship, I'm only surprised it's taken her this long - suspiciously-nice-tonight Matt has been such a rotten tiger for quite a while.

But Paul is pretty dull, isn't he? I mean, I know people think Rhys is dull, but Paul really is down there with the ditchwater, I think.

AAAAh spoiler!!! though it's my fault I don't listen till p.m. today (I'll pretend I didn't read this Grin Grin)

I'm really hoping she stays with Matt for the single selfish reason that listening to the long lost Paul almost sends me into a coma with boredom. Just imagine if him and Rhys ever got talking...it could finish off half of Ambridge.

Matt has too much to loose to let her go (notice how insecure he's getting making lunch AND setting the table Grin)

TBH Paul is too straight for Lil I bet he doesn't drink and smoke like her and would def. disaprove of the said habits Grin Lilian would get bored with him yes.

Oh, so sorry ppeatfruit, I should have thought!

Yes, like I said yesterday, Paul is as dull as the dullest thing ever.

I wondered if they were shoe-horning boring Rhys in to engineer a storyline where Ed goes running to Fallon for comfort and she can't resist chucking in her new 'love' for her old flame? Baffled about the Paul thing tho' unless they really think we care about her being torn between the two - so so dull.

Archers is all over the place at the moment and speaking of Nigel (as people were a few posts back) the justification for shoving him off that roof was to generate storylines of family feuding for years to come and now everything's back to normal with Deeavid and Lizzie.

Well I'm glad they remembered that a little while ago (last christmas, the christmas before??) Jazzer was in love with Fallon......I always thought they'd end up together.

Jazzer and Fallon would have made a really cool couple.

For those who dont listen to AMex

SPOILER ALERT

there was a bit of Fallon/Jazzer action in the storyline where Harry left. It was just a one-nighter though.

PrincessFlorimonde It's okay Grin I quite like Paul but he's too good for Lilian and Matt's too bad !! Strange how Lil's not confiding in Jenny who KNOWS about the Paul thing.(not that it's been consummated) !! AFAIK

Yup whatshesaid we sorted out that on another thread Smile but interestingly Jazzer has 'gone of' Fallon since.

frankly and choccypig would you hook up with jazzer??

Sure ppeat, if I was Fallon - at least he's more like a real person who laughs and cries and eats pork scratchings unlike cardboard Rhys. He's obviously devoted and if she's intent on wasting her life in Ambridge she might as well get some fun out of it. You missed the yukky lil 'n' paul consummation episode then...?

I'm really really hoping that Emma going to Keith's sentencing gives us another glimpse of not-totally-dreadful Emma. Over the Summer they seemed to try to round her out to have some good qualities (standing up to Keith and the dreadful Sharon, helping Ruth fix a fence etc) and then they've just crushed her back to her current state...

When is AmEx back (it was on in the run up to Christmas last year wasn't it) - any bets as to what the plot will be - I have a horrible feeling it's going to be all set at Jacks, possibly intertwined with Paul's life or maybe (God help us) James and Leonie?

I love Jazzer's accent and sense of humour; he must be superficially sexy judging by the action he gets on the milk round....but the smell of pig poo would put me off a bit.

I'm really enjoying Jazzer and Jim living together - in my mind they're a bit like a cross generational Morcambe and Wise when they were the old guys in their pyjamas [bgrin]

frankly Buxxx I didn't reread my post I meant NOW that Lil and Paul's affair has been consummated sorry!

Jazzer has serious issues with his background and sex life IMO; I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole if I was Fallon. The S.W.s are obviously trying to change him from bad boy to good though with Jim's help. I agree it's sweet that Jim cares. Hmm

I wouldn't touch Jazzer with a bargepole either. It must only be a matter of time before he is the centre of a Public Service storyline about STI.

I think that I have listened to TA for too long. We have already had the unlikely pairing of a straight-laced oldie with a wayward youngster (Lynda and Kate). I suppose that there are only so many permutations and stories in the world ...

Report
PseudoBadger · 02/12/2012 20:56

No way would I touch Jazzer, with any length of barge pole. He seems like a mixture of Smithy from Gavin and Stacey and this guy I knew as a teenager who spent most of his time boasting about putting various household implements into various women The SWs need to remind listeners that he was brain damaged from ketamine; recent listeners just think he's a good, dirty guy.

Acekicker a future AmEx will definitely feature Daniel and Jamie in New York.
