Is that what Pat was getting at tonight when she was quizzing Susan about how old Kylie's half-brother was? Or am I way off beam?

IIjkk It's interesting I wasn't listening properly then so I don't remember Sharon's personality. But if she cared for her "Rich' she'd actually want him to know his GP's rather than using him as weapon to get her own back on them she's a nasty piece of work IMO.

ppeatfruit · 10/12/2011 14:04

Welcome Olivia (feels humble) Xmas Smile

MaeMobley · 11/12/2011 10:09

Hi, just joining this thread. I was cheering on Sharon the other day. I do not like Pat at all. Serves her right.

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/12/2011 13:12

yes, listening again to the omnibus- was also cheering Sharon..I do think Hellin is over reacting too-I know she's a flaky thing but she needs to get a grip.

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/12/2011 13:15

Just listened to omnibus and felt very tearful for Pat.

Sharon was vile in the past and Helen is awful - god I'd do the opposite just to annoy her.

R4 · 11/12/2011 14:19

"But if she cared for her "Rich' she'd actually want him to know his GP's"

That's not how Sharon explained it. She has been with Eamonn since Rich was a baby. Effectively, he is Rich's dad, not John, and his parents are Rich's GPs, not Pat and Tony. Rich knows that Eamonn is not his biological dad but has not, so far, asked Sharon about his birth family.
This is all about Pat's selfish motivation - she is not thinking about the effect it would have on Rich never mind the effect on her husband, children and grandson. I think that Sharon is protecting him. Getting her own back on Pat is a nice added bonus.

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/12/2011 14:23

I suspect Rich wil start asking questions.

I mean if this was RL and I was Sharon - I'd tell him - I mean the more people who love a child is a good thing surely?

Have been pondering further whilst tidying . . .

Helen just makes me so furious - its all about her - forget the fact that her parents lost their son.

OliviaMumsnet · 11/12/2011 14:36

Still lurking, playing catch up on iplayer, but LOLing at Josh suddenly interested in farming. Setting up a nice feud for the future...

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/12/2011 15:16

agree with R4 -Pat would make poor Rich into a John substitute - you can't fill gaps like that.

DillyTinsel · 11/12/2011 17:02

Just in the middle of the omnibus on iPlayer. Only been listening for a year or so, so don't know the history, but Helen is being so selfish. Agree that as a mother she should understand how Pat is feeling. Is Pat pretty horrible though? Like I said, don't know the history. But Tom and Helen sound like pampered Prince and Princesses.

lljkk · 11/12/2011 18:13

I am flashing back to how selfish Helen was to get pg in the first place "I don't need a man" "My baby doesn't need a father" "I don't know how I will work childcare out or finances, but I'm going to have a baby anyway because I want one now" attitude. What's happening now all follows logically, really.

After all, if Henry is expected to be perfectly happy knowing nothing about half of his biological history, why shouldn't Rich accept it all, too? :(

I can't believe that a 13yo wouldn't have asked LOTS of questions by now, though!!

ChristinedePizanne · 11/12/2011 18:18

Umm ... I'm a single mother by choice and I don't think I'm selfish and my DS is a very happy little boy Hmm

But I loathe Hellin and I am really fucked off that of all the people on soaps who could have chosen to go it alone, it had to be her. She is a self-obsessed spoilt person and I actually think it's a really crap and unlikely storyline - you have to be prepared to make enormous sacrifices to choose to parent alone and she just wouldn't do that.

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/12/2011 18:36

But Helen isn't doing it on her own is she really - I mean she moved back in with her parents.

TheHollyandOliviaMumsnet · 11/12/2011 20:27

@R4

They clearly have something by way of story line in mind

Aha! I have worked it out. They can forget calling the new enterprise Ambridge Organics or even Bastardo Organics (love the nameGrin). Pat and Tony will be pensioned off and it will be run by their son & two grandsons and be called Tom, Dick & Harry Organics.

GENIUS!!!!

TheHollyandOliviaMumsnet · 11/12/2011 20:31

@MrsCampbellBlack

But Helen isn't doing it on her own is she really - I mean she moved back in with her parents.
Is she STILL there? Thought it was only for a few weeks?!

NB have I flouted my Ambridge claim to fame of late?
Actress who plays Pat is SIL's AUNT!?! not that I have met her ever as she couldn't attend DB's wedding

Loving this thread.

Northernlurker · 11/12/2011 21:41

Yes she's still there I think. Isn't Harry lor somebody living in the beautifully painted flat?

Pat sounded totally deranged tonight sadly. I do agree with her actually. Sharon was not good for John and I think she's all too eagerly embraced the idea she can get back at Pat and Tony.

lljkk · 11/12/2011 22:58

Sorry Christine, didn't mean to offend you; I'm sure your background is nothing like Hellin's if you loathe her that much, too. Wink

GrimmaTheNome · 12/12/2011 13:19

Is Pat pretty horrible though?
No, as Ambridge women go she's not too bad usually. Bit over-earnest. John's death sent her off into deep depression so this storyline is bound to be emotionally fraught for her.

Songbird · 12/12/2011 14:15

Have just listened to last night's episode. So, Sharon effectively killed John did she? Well yes then, she's evil! I can't believe Pat and Tony are both saying they would have treated her differently that day if they'd known. That's not the point AT ALL!! Frightful pair!

carocaro · 12/12/2011 16:22

Yes Pat was horrid way back when and Sharon was a bit of a strumpet and you can't just magically plaster over that.

It's up to Rich to decide, listen to both sides. He knows his Dad died before he was born and if it were me I might want to know a little more as I got older. I say this from experience, me and my bro have different Dad's, the one who brought us both up and the one that is his biological one.

My bro and his biological Dad are the spitting image of one another. THey have seen each other a few times but nothing much ever came of it as his bio-Dad has a family who know nothing of my brother; saying that he's had plenty of friggin time to tell them as my bro is 42! But that's just my opinion.

So am watching this storyline with interest. It is a can o worms that's for sure, but as my family situation proved it can stay shut for a hell of a long time.

bea · 15/12/2011 15:01

Sigh! I'm not sure if i can cope with 'Hysterical Pat' much longer!!!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/12/2011 15:04

me either

Songbird · 15/12/2011 16:58

Her wobbly voice is getting irritating to say the least!

ChristinedePizanne · 15/12/2011 17:06

No worries lljkk :)

I don't think I can bear this. Pat stalking some poor kid :( She is completely bloody bonkers and they way she and Tony treated Sharon was horrible and really bloody snobbish. But then I suppose he was 17 so I can kind of understand their horror at her being an older woman (was she 24?)

These fence posts are digging into my bum a bit Xmas Hmm

lljkk · 15/12/2011 17:28

I didn't hear it last night, was Pat truly off the rails? I did hear Tony's "Father to father" phone call (tuesday) which was fairly reasonable, although I can't see how meeting Rich would settle anything. Xmas Confused
