Is that what Pat was getting at tonight when she was quizzing Susan about how old Kylie's half-brother was? Or am I way off beam?

OP posts:

Sorry, my maths was horribly out last night. But I'm not sure of the dates - isn't Rich 'much younger' than Kylie? If he was born in 97, he'd be about 14. I got the impression from his voice on the phone that he was about 9 or 10.

Wouldn't Sharon have been in touch before now if she was going to claim the inheritance?

heronsfly · 16/11/2011 15:07

I think Sharon sounded as if she was well rid of the lot of them, and built herself a good life. Cant see her crawling back for any inheritance.

Ponders · 16/11/2011 16:06

Kylie told Susan he's 13, Christine - in fact it was something like "12, no, 13" as if he'd just had a birthday which fits even more closely with the last shenanigans with John (if there were any)

Ponders · 16/11/2011 16:07

John died Feb 98; if Rich just turned 13 he was born around Oct 98. It does fit.

NotMostPeople · 16/11/2011 16:54

But but but John was in a relationship with someone, wasn't it Haley?

WhatSheSaid · 16/11/2011 17:12

Yes but he cheated on Hayley with Sharon. I think he asked Hayley to marry him but she turned him down because she had found out about the affair with Sharon. And then he went and fell off the tractor or whatever it was (I actually still remember the scene where Tony found his body)

LillianGish · 16/11/2011 17:24

Emma has been on facebook with Kylie, according to Susan. I bet there will be a photo of the brother who will be the image of John.

NotMostPeople · 16/11/2011 18:11

Oh yes you're right WhatSheSaid and then Tom had a thing about Haley when she helped him with Johns pigs.

Northernlurker · 16/11/2011 18:25

I remember when Tonyfound him too. I think he said 'you're so cold' - I blubbed so much. I was v pregnant and it was a complete shock. NOt like Nigel's heavily trailed SATTC demise.

ChristinedePizanne · 16/11/2011 20:14

I thought as I pressed 'post' that the Archers have always been rubbish at getting children's voices right and age appropriate :o

Oh god, northern, I remember the accident really clearly. It was absolutely awful. Nigel's death was a bit 'meh' in comparison

Ponders · 16/11/2011 20:15

& Helen was so unbelievably cold & rude to Hayley that she withdrew from the farm completely. Cow.

I remember too when John's tractor fell over - it was one of those vintage ones which Tony was restoring, & they don't have cabs, which is why John was squished. Coming just after Hayley had rejected his apologies there was always a bit of a question mark over whether it might not have been a complete accident...Tony finding him was very moving.

they did not play the theme tune at the end; there was just silence. Very effective Sad

ChristinedePizanne · 16/11/2011 20:17

I had forgotten that Ponders. It was really, really sombre. Helen was an utter cow to Hayley and now it's odd to think that she was with John when she is so happy with Roy. Does she ever speak to Pat and Tony?

NotMostPeople · 16/11/2011 20:17

Having though about this, surely it was more than 13 years ago?

Northernlurker · 16/11/2011 20:17

Just found you can hear the moment Tony found him on the BBC website......under the timelines bit

Ponders · 16/11/2011 20:34

oh, northern - I just listened & filled up all over again

heronsfly · 16/11/2011 20:38

That is sooooo sad, I will look more kindly on Tony now.

Northernlurker · 16/11/2011 21:06

It's awful isnt it? Tony is so annoying and then he has moments of pure strength. I was very moved too by his anxiety as he waited for Henry's birth. Pat was with Helen and all he had to do was sit and regret how grumpy he'd been.

maras2 · 16/11/2011 22:19

I loved it when Tony took Henry outside Grey Gables during Peggy's birthday party to 'give Helen a break'.Nice Grandad.

WhatSheSaid · 16/11/2011 22:51

I like Tony. Ok, he's a bit grumpy sometimes but wouldn't you be with Helen as your offspring? :o

Fiderer · 17/11/2011 07:38

I remember the "You're so cold" too. He felt very guilty as he'd been nagging John to do whatever it was. John had been too distracted by Hayley finding out about him and Sharon and Tony was v cross that John hadn't been pulling his weight.
Plus there was something about John's taking the Fergie as Tony hadn't done something to their modern tractor.
I howled too. As an expat in the those days before broadband and the iPlayer I used to get TA from a friend whose mum taped the omnibus for her. Remember listening to it on the tram going to work and being all weepy.
Mind you, that was nothing to listening to Ruth giving birth to Pip - the shrieks Grin Got me 4 seats to myself.

Fiderer · 17/11/2011 07:39

Listening, I add, on one of these

PrincessFiorimonde · 19/11/2011 00:03

Just been catching up on iPlayer.

I did wonder why Kylie had been reintroduced to Ambridge. But surely Pat is going to be disappointed?

Fiderer · 19/11/2011 07:18

I vaguely remember Sharon had a pregnancy scare when she was with John. It was one reason why she left him.
Trying to remember how much time there was between Sharon and John being together (when he and Hayley were living together) and Sharon turning up in the churchyard and meeting Hayley. Surely if she had been pregnant it would have been noticeable?

Hope it all comes to nothing anyway as am fed up of Bridge Farm atm and don't know if I can cope with Helen doing a Lizzie-and-the-Brookfield-inheritance stroppy (organic) cow act.

heronsfly · 19/11/2011 12:47

I think Kathy could have been a little bit kinder to Pat, all she wanted to talk about was Jamies resits.

carocaro · 20/11/2011 11:27

Can't find it the audio of Tony, please post link, thanks
