To keep changing prams? **help me please**

I need help!

I've currently got an almost one year old, and three prams.

I've got, a joie chrome travel system, a bugaboo cameleon 2, and a mothercare Nanu stroller

I had the Joie chrome first and I loved it when ds was tiny, it's light, basket is big it was fab. He just doesn't sit right in it any more, his legs are far too long and he just looks like he's hanging in there by his bum in the harness. Doesn't look comfy at all.

The cameleon is just too bloody heavy. I like the way he sits in the bucket seat, he's got more room and looks comfy. But it's too heavy for what I want it for (I live in countryside lots of hills etc) and I don't drive (well I can but no car or Desire to get myself one) so lots of walking. This is initially why I bought it but it just doesn't work for this. Basket isn't accessible enough for shopping etc, and it's a pain in the arse to get in oh car (mondeo so not small)

The stroller is just used for nursery and I have no issues with it but I want something parent facing.

So - can someone recommend what I should get? I'm trying to sell the bug and the joie.

Ideally I'd like

Parent and world facing, bucket type seat (or just roomy with leg support), big accessible basket, as light as possible, not mega expensive (will prob buy second hand) suitable for a tall 1yom

Tbh OP i'd stop replying... its getting worse by the moment.

Do people usually react this badly when somebody posts a thread on Aibu which could have been posted elsewhere? It happens all the time. How many people visit the pram topic? I don't think I've ever looked at it. I look at AIBU fairly frequently, though. I'm also a pushchair user so would be more likely to contribute to a pushchair thread here than elsewhere. I wouldn't even see it in the pram topic. People regularly post in AIBU and chat for traffic. It's not a crime.

LornaMumsnet · 19/04/2017 15:07

Ahem

Peace and love?

Can we stick to the topic, please.

Daisies123 · 19/04/2017 15:08

Graco Evo - we've had it since birth and it's fantastic. Folds up small enough to fit in boot of old style Fiesta. Parent or world facing (main reason we chose it). Enormous basket which is easily accessible - I can fit SO much shopping in. Reclines down to flat.

It doesn't have off road tyres but has coped fine with National Trust properties/garden visits and smoothish grass. And it was loads cheaper than many others we considered.

BeIIatrixLeStrange · 19/04/2017 15:10

phoenixtherabbit I think you need to stop taking life so seriously and pretending you know how other people feel - you are trying to project your feelings - lighten up, relax, have a laugh sometimes.

LadyintheRadiator Sorry who are you again? Someone who jumped in last minute to have a couple of swipes, yet totally missing the point. Get back in your Radiator

........ I really only asked about prams. Don't try playing the 'you don't understand me' card now you've finished being nasty.

Oldbrownowl · 19/04/2017 15:14

Bella the op has repeatedly said she doesn't find it funny and you repeatedly banging on about having a laugh is tired and frankly it is bullying. Just because you haven't sworn or name called doesn't mean it isn't bullying and you look ridiculous.

Back on topic I had an uppababy vista loved it. It is quite big but really sturdy and can face the chair either way.

BeIIatrixLeStrange · 19/04/2017 15:15

Calm yourself down, it's only a pram, or three

BeIIatrixLeStrange · 19/04/2017 15:16

Yes its so nasty singing the body form theme to you.

If this has been your worst experience of (as you term it) ''bullying'' then you have led a charmed life.

phoenixtherabbit · 19/04/2017 15:16

Thanks for all the advice will do some googling and go try out a few!

Oldbrownowl Of course it doesn't look ridiculous jumping in last minute - you crack on

phoenixtherabbit · 19/04/2017 15:17

bellatrix bullying is bullying no matter what the subject is.

Many posters have agreed that you're bullying and yet you continue because you think it's funny. It's not.

What a horrible thread.

Anyway OP, I have three prams for two babies and am not a crazy pram-obsessive - sometimes you need different things (I have an uppababy vista, an armadillo city and an out n about running buggy).

I just came on to say that it might seem to fit the bill but avoid the uppababy vista. It is parent facing and has a massive basket and is good 'off-road', but it's also heavy, unwieldy and bulky. I keep mine because it converts to a double which is handy for me but I wouldn't buy another one. The uppababy Cruz is what I would have got, all the same features but lighter and smaller, that might be worth a look for you.

Enidblyton1 · 19/04/2017 15:33

I would go to a big shop (John Lewis?) and try out a few on the shop floor before buying another one.
I've had a bugaboo frog (old style Cameleon), Baby Jogger Citi Mini and a Maclaren stroller (techno). Out of those 3 only the Frog was parent facing. I did miles of walking in it and loved it - though it was definitely heavier and not as versatile as the Baby Jogger or Maclaren.
As your baby is getting older, they may want to look out more (maybe not, but mine suddenly preferred looking outwards at this age). So I would consider prioritising a buggy which is light and outward facing rather than heavier/parent facing.
Definitely try the Bugaboo Bee, but it's quite small and I have friends who didn't like it when their child got older.
Good luck

(and maybe laugh in the future about how pram obsessed you were when your DC was little - I know I do now!!)

LornaMumsnet · 19/04/2017 15:36

Hi, all

We've spoken to the OP and have agreed to move this thread over to our pushchair topic.

CheshireChat · 19/04/2017 16:03

I found three wheelers a lot more manoeuvrable so that would be a must for me.

Have a look at weight limits- my DS is 2 and over 12 kg and the limit is 15 kg so that only leaves you 3 kg for shopping. I know some silver crosses are better for that.

Get something that makes it easy to pop the child in and out as when your toddler starts walking it'll be more practical. Also something you can push with one hand so you have the other hand available.

plimsolls · 19/04/2017 16:08

This is so strange. I never get why one random thread somehow attracts the attention of a load of snarkers when other threads don't. Although, I guess this is an example of "you posted in AIBU so anything goes". There should be some kind of warning before you can start a thread here.

Anyway OP, I've got a Mamas and Papas Urbo 2 which is pretty good. Not so flimsy. I really like the Quinny Buzz but it was a bit unwieldy for my purposes (live in city and use public transport a lot), sounds like it might be ok for what you need.

SleepFreeZone · 19/04/2017 16:23

It's because the OP kept biting back.

WaitrosePigeon · 19/04/2017 16:25

Back to the op...

When my kids were young my hobby was changing prams Grin

I sold one then got another one though, my DH would have divorced me I had kept them all.

Bugaboo Bee was my favourite.

Daisies123 · 19/04/2017 16:26

The Graco Eco is really light too - very easy to manoeuvre.

thejoysofboys · 19/04/2017 16:27

Babystyle Oyster - loved mine.

kel1493 · 19/04/2017 16:34

I didn't want to post earlier due to the nature of some of the comments.
But I've had the silver cross pioneer since my lo was born and I love it. I love everything about it.
The carrycot was so comfy (I had a little cry when he went in the pushchair at 6 months), the pushchair is both parent and forward facing, the basket is a good size. I love all the accessories (changing bag, seat liner, parasol) and the fact you can match them to the pram or get different colours. Also being able to attach the simplicity car seat can be useful. I found it easy to steer, a lot of people say it's heavy but I don't think it's that heavy.
For me I knew I'd get a silver cross. We chose that one because we haven't got the money or space for a balmoral, and we liked the big strong wheels and the larger basket. We got the pram and all accessories in black because we didn't want to know the sex until the birth, I prefer black prams, and it means we can reuse it for baby number 2 (which we will be). So many people have asked why we don't get a cheap buggy, but I refuse as I don't like them, and I love my pram.
I realise this isn't much use to you now op, as it comes with the carrycot which you wouldn't need. But the only pram I would ever go for is a silver cross.
They do a couple of strollers (pop and zest) which are forward facing, or the reflex can be used parent facing. It's more expensive, but it's very good I've heard).

Chamonix1 · 19/04/2017 17:10

Well that made an interesting read, remind me not to post in AIBU about pushchairs.

Anywho... Uppa baby vista/ Cruz. Loved my vista! Cruz is good too just a bit smaller!

bumbleymummy · 19/04/2017 18:49

Good grief. Some people can be weird.

It's a shame that there aren't 'pram libraries' like sling libraries so you can borrow them and try them out. I think somewhere like a big John Lewis sounds like a good idea.
