Baby Jogger City Classic Double, monkeys Smile

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 16/12/2011 21:28

I like being here too :) We just need to throw in the odd pushchair remark now and again though [wunk]

I am glad you like your BJCCD. If your DS likes a firm seat, then open the back of the seat and see if there is a metal frame like the other Baby Joggers. If so, cut a piece or two of stiff cardboard to fit and put it in the back between the wires. It will stiffen the back up for him. You can buy a PE board on Amazon but they are silly money for a small bit of plastic corrugated sheet.

Mutsy Duo Seat pictured on 4 rider light chassis.
In Germany and the USA this is approved. We can see here it does click into any of the mutsy chassis. The components can be bought separately from pram shops or eBay.
I was thinking of you Misdee incase it gave you another option. The single spoke chassis is my favourite.

BrassMonkeyBaubles · 17/12/2011 05:25

Mutsy Transporter looks like a cute little stroller...

misdee · 17/12/2011 08:06

i discounted the mutsy as i hated the urban chassis. i love the 4 rider chassis though. had it with dd3 a few times. might have to keep an eye on ebay for a cheapy.

BrassMonkeyBaubles · 17/12/2011 08:21

There's a lovely looking mutsy duo seat on bin for £45 and the necessary footmuff /seat insert for £12 if you want to start collecting the necessary bits Misdee....it's what I was going to get had last years pregnancy been successful (our doorstep is tricky, with a slope immediately below also!). It's a fab system as you can also use with a single seat, or carrycot.

misdee · 17/12/2011 08:23

i will look seriously after xmas. far too close to the big day atm.

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 17/12/2011 08:24

But the Duo seat is the hardest seat ever. Zero padding. Hard board. Rear rear seat would be awful for a newborn plus they are supposed to use the newborn insert which if I remember correctly is like a footmuff, which may be too hot in summer. I daren't let DD on unsupervised because the Duo seat looked like it would snap with her weight on alone. The straps were too large even for my toddler, never mind a newborn. I thought it was tons of fun but uncomfy, impractical, basic and not really a serious option for every day use. There's photos on BB of the Duo seat. The one thing going for it was the huge bouncy wheels on the Urban rider chassis for off road. But it was so hard for a child - there was more padding in the hoods than the seats. Oh everything about it wasn't right!!!!!!

misdee · 17/12/2011 09:27

my friend had the duo on the urban chassis, and i know she hated the rear wheel steering. used it once or twice if that. will go have a look at bb for review.

misdee · 17/12/2011 09:45

lack of recline on the front seat makes this a no-no, as steven will only be 16months old when bubs arrives.

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 17/12/2011 10:37

The steering is appalling but it would be alleviated by using the 4rider chassis but the seats are really bad. It's just not a comfortable pushchair. But it's very neat. We used it for fun outings but I would never consider it as a serious double option....never!

BrassMonkeyBaubles · 17/12/2011 10:55

The duo seat must have the footmuff insert in if used with a new baby. I believe the footmuff includes a padded wedge incorporated in it which provides the necessary padding and strap length reduction.
However it sounds as though this wont be a good option for you anyway misdee.

Where are you all? :( It's been Christmas tree day here today. We bought a gorgeous real tree and it looks fab all decorated. DD was just a little over excited though Xmas Hmm. Hubby told me earlier that he was in the mood to buy a Donkey shaped present today but believe me all I ended up with was two baubles!

I've checked in a few times today but it's been very quiet...Used my I'coo but it's not a great fit in the car though, so there's no way the Donkey would have fit...I'd still love a pink Photon but thinking i really should save my money as i don't really need the seat changing feature which i love as DD really isn't ever going to sleep in it...I'm just not in the Christmas spirit at all...Everything Christmassy is still in the loft including all the cards [wunk] so i need to get it down tomorrow before i go to work...I'd love a real tree but think i'll stick with the one i used last year...Debating whether to take DD to watch an ice show tomorrow afternoon...Will catch the bus with the Nuna if i do.

aswellasyou · 17/12/2011 21:16

I always have a real tree but I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get one at all this year. I'm not sure I can be bothered to go and get one. I normally choose the most ridiculous looking one that I know won't get chosen by anyone else. Xmas Grin I've had some funny looking ones in the past. We got a twin one once so we could have a star and a fairy on top.

Twinkle, I wouldn't be impressed at the teasing in relation to the Donkey! Xmas Grin You can't play with my emotions like that! Xmas Wink

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 17/12/2011 21:45

The best time to talk DH is pre-coffee :o You could buy anything then! I am just too lovely to take advantage of him in that state! DS is petrified of the dancing, singing, toy Christmas tree that we bought. DH has banned me from the bedroom whilst he wraps my presents up. He has just wrapped his main present up from me lolol It was too big - a table top arcade machine. But he's miffed that I refused to let him try it. But I did and it's rather good fun! Ut I gained an extra monitor for my computer because he needs the space to put it on his desk! So I am happy :) Two screens is really useful.

Someone got a good bargain on eBay tonight...A brand new but returned Jane Solo Reverse for £102, normally retail for at least £300...Wondering if something like that would cover all bases for me??? Adjustable pivot bar handle, though it's umbrella fold...Seat faces in both directions with a bumper bar...Doesn't have a footrest which i prefer but does have adjustable legrest...Wonder if it pushes very similar to the Carerra??? Monkeys how did it push compared to say a Bee Plus as i noticed you've had one of those??? Does have a long fold though and obviously not as compact in other dimensions like the Flite which will lay on the floor of my car.

saoirse86 · 17/12/2011 22:02

You know when you order from amazon.com, do all the postage and import fees get included? Do you end up paying anything else when it arrives? just out of interest of course! Xmas Hmm Xmas Wink

suzie38 · 17/12/2011 22:07

No...The import fees are paid upfront and if you're lucky you'll get those fees credited back to you a month or 2 later...I did when i bought my Bumbleride Flite that way.

suzie38 · 17/12/2011 22:07

PS...What you got your eyes on???

saoirse86 · 17/12/2011 22:10

The other day I was driving and saw a man pushing a double pushchair. I really thought it might be a contours but I've googled and now I don't think it is. It looked very similar in that the seats were at the same height iyswim (rather than say on a city select), it had an all black chassis where the metal looked quite slim which is what made me think it was the contours lite, the seats were facing each other and were black with red at the top. What is it???? I serously considered pulling over to ask, but there was nowhere I could do that and I was stuck in traffic. Xmas Blush Xmas Sad
