£15 per item (mainly jeans, dungarees, dresses) is less than Gap! Plus it includes $70 shipping which is the ouch factor! But I am not buying it! Lol Hubby has grumbled that it's for next year and we don't need it now.

suzie38 · 29/11/2011 09:03

I spent $222 with $42 postage...To be honest i don't like a lot of what Gap produces for girls but the tights are super cute with the teddy bear on the bottom so i bought 7 pairs of those, plus 3 extra off eBay.

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 29/11/2011 09:42

i am very lucky, my sister and auntie but designer clothes for their dc's and hand them down to mine, i also like monsoon in the sale, got some lovely winter coats for the dc's at half price and one which cost me £12 from £60.

TruthSweet · 29/11/2011 09:44

That explains why I only buy Gap in charity shops!

It is cute stuff though so I don't blame you if you have the money to buy it, I might even buy it if I had too.

No, I'd probably spend all my money on new prams....

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 29/11/2011 09:54

i find alot of bargains at carboots, this is also were i sell the things mine have grown out of and i def have bargains at 20 - 50p each then the rest goes in the charity bins at waitrose, our charity shops are not that great so i don't bother with them, the sales are really good. i spend very little on clothes for dc's with what i get given and buy in the sales etc. shoes cost alot though no getting round that one, will have more money next year, as i will be buying no more prams Grin so trikidoo, decorating and turning the garden into an adventure playground Grin [started but not finished yet]

MonkeyJuice · 29/11/2011 10:21

Darn! I've been busy with poorly family (winter virus) and missed your boden code! :(
However, went shopping in town for clothes for kids on sat and gap had 30% off everything also m and s 25% off everything which was a blessing. My kids are hard to get things to fit as they're not average at all. One is built like twiggy and the other like a Russian Olympic shot-put sportswoman! It's even hard to hand things down, they are so different in build.
I love gap, mostly because of the design, then the great quality, and also I love a bargain and only buy when on sale.
We don't get any hand me downs no relatives the right ages nearby for that.

TruthSweet · 29/11/2011 10:28

Oh God do shoes cost. DD2 has Kicker boots for her HMS and DD1 is in barefoot shoes for school (I hate hard soled shoes for running around and DD1 is never still!).

Luckily I have kept all their shoes (about 3 carrier bags full!) so have a wide variety of sizes and widths to 'shop' from when DD3 needs new shoes. If I can't find any to fit then she gets new ones as she did when she started walking as she was a 2 (at 17m) and yet DD2 was a 3.5 at 11m so didn't have any small enough. She's a 4 now at 2.1 Shock

FriggsFlyingFalconFeathers · 29/11/2011 10:33

ahh yes,DD has kicker boots too,for the possible HMS..(we're seeing a geniticist (sp?) soon!)
and they cost a blardy fortune, and DS is in echo lights atm,but normaly in barefoot's ...i always spend money on good shoes,my nan used to say "you only get one pair of feet!" Grin

FriggsFlyingFalconFeathers · 29/11/2011 10:34

oh,and they both have massive feet! DD is a 10 at 3 yrs old and DS is a 4.5 at 15 months!

TruthSweet · 29/11/2011 10:57

DD2's last Kickers were about £25 from ebay (multiple sizes/styles seller not one pair IYSWIM). They're white leather with pink and purple lego flowers Grin

MonkeyJuice · 29/11/2011 10:58

Hmm, I didn't know kickers were good for hms. Dd2 was seen once when diagnosed with hms. We've received no advice since on footwear that I remember. I always pay out for good fitting sensible shoes though. Often startright or clarkes.
Ds just got gortex clarkes.£44! He's blardy 3 and his shoes cost that much!
We try to avoid getting all kids shoes on the same day, with four kids you can imagine! My eldest mostly gets her own now she is an older teen (and works pt) but I still ensure she has at least one sensible pair as she mostly buys fashion tat!

aswellasyou · 29/11/2011 11:04

I do tend to buy new too, but only in major sales and usually with discount codes. In January, I bought absolutely loads of clothes in the sales using codes assuming my daughter would stay 3 months behind average size, but she only moved into 6-9 months at 13 months. Hmm I think I spent about £150 altogether but I've now got clothes to last her until she's about 3! Grin I bought a shoe size guage so I can measure her feet and buy the right sized shoes on eBay. There's no way on this planet I'm going to spend £20 on a pair of baby shoes!

Anyway, has everyone seen Pushchair Trader's advent giveaway? There are some seriously good prizes in there. I'm actually considering becoming a PT VIP to get all the extra entries! Shock

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 29/11/2011 11:13

Frigg - I am glad I am not the only one with children with big feet. DD is approx a size 9 (just before her 3rd birthday - she always gets Lelli Kellys - I buy them new in sales and on Ebay and then sell them on again!) and DS got his first boots and is a 5.5 (15 months)
Prams - I don't believe you will never buy another pram again! Hmm No Versa or June??
Unfortunately for DD her coats etc are unisex!! DS is in all her JoJo foeece hand me downs this year. DS has a lovely pair of pink fleece lined jeans :o

TruthSweet · 29/11/2011 11:13

MJ - apparently they are good due to the support around the ankle stopping the ankle 'falling' over the heel.

DD2 loves her and I got a pair of Peppa Pig velcro baseball style trainers so she has an alternative.

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 29/11/2011 11:18

no, no versa or june, no more, honest Grin

i got dd4 kickers from amazon for £25

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 29/11/2011 11:58

Do you think my +one will fit in the car?? On paper it's 3cms too long....
Hmm
I have the perfect outing for it tomorrow if it does.

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 29/11/2011 12:04

i have to say i am Shock that you have bought another mb after the last one, but it may well fit at an angle you never know

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 29/11/2011 12:11

I know Prams - hubby was not happy. But right from the start the +one interested me more than the Duet as I do like tandems. But when I saw it first at Harrogate, it looked absolutely enormous with the hood up on the high setting and with the long wheelbase. When I saw it the second time, I walked past it several times because it was parked next to a Verve and it looked a similar size, with the hood on the lower setting (I am just praying they kept this feature because DD won't like a big hole behind her head), and I thought it was an Urban Jungle!! Someone later asked if I had had another look at the +one and I was soooo surprised that I had been walking past it and hadn't realised.
My retailer says the quality looked ok to him so fingers crossed that it's better finished than the Duet / or that there's nothing wrong with it because everything I have had this year from the ONA camp has has issues or faults and two have been returned. I am soooooooo hoping the +one is fine.....I can't tell you how much I am hoping!!!!! I am sick f dealing with issues and just want to enjoy the pushchair!

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 29/11/2011 12:14

Just to add I mean issues in general whether the Nipper, Verve, City Select, Contours, Valco etc.

TwinkleWunkleChristmasStar · 29/11/2011 12:22

Ok...we need to kick this topic out and get into Christmas mood. So question time - they may be past or present pushchairs that you have owned in 2011.

What has been your best all round pushchair and why?
Which has been your worst and why?
Which pushchair have you been sad to see go?
Which have you used most to walk with?
Which was perfect for a day trip?
Which pushchair would have gone offroad / to the beach?
Which pushchair usually lives in your car boot (or you reach for first to put in the car?)
Which pushchair is best for public transport?
Which has the biggest basket?
Which did you like to push the best?
Which did your DC like the best?
Any other notable pushchairs or comments?

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 29/11/2011 13:05

in order of being asked
best alrounder-
vista, easy to push and huge basket
worst- verve, it was just very bad, wheels, frame flexing, hard to push, creaking i could go on
sad to see go - i have not they are still here Grin
walk with - mima xari, i love it, very easy to push and looks so pretty
day trip - orbit with the side panniers or the vista
car - the joovy is now in the car
buses - any to be honest, but i do tend to take the citisport, although have taken the larger ones on.
biggest basket - vista
best push - mima xari/vista they are equal, just the mima has more bounce
best by dc - she likes them all,but ds loves the joovy, saw it out the other day and told me i am not allowed to sell it
my fav pushchairs are in order the mima xari, vista and the orbit, i do think that if everyone had a vista and a compact pushchair that they would not need or want another pushchair. i just need the compact one or do i Hmm

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 29/11/2011 13:05

can you tell i have too much time on my hands today Grin
