New thread for buggy collectors! Grin

OP posts:
sillyworriedmama · 23/08/2011 22:25

my most recent obsession has actually been twins like the bjcm double - which is absurd because DS is an only child and I'm not even pregnant again or likely to be soon... go figure!! I LOVE the First Wheels City Elite Twin. I clearly need to persuade DH about more than just getting another buggy... the solution is another baby to go in one lol.

Seriously, I actually asked a friend if she needed me to childmind for her on the offchance it would give me a good excuse. Blush

TruthSweet · 23/08/2011 22:26

Tiggy - which one is that? It might be worthwhile getting now if the seats are big enough. DD2's physio thinks she is having a bad patch again so we might be looking at a long term solution the the buggy issue. I'd prefer to get a pushchair style thing rather than something that looked like a wheelchair as then DD3 could use it when DD2 is at playschool.

As it is the next time we go to the supermarket we are going to have to use one of the trolleys with the large seat (

suzie38 · 23/08/2011 22:27

I've got 4 pushchairs imported from America because of this forum!!!

FriggFRIGG · 23/08/2011 22:29

im sorry guys!Blush
starting this thread was like opining pandoras box!

FriggFRIGG · 23/08/2011 22:29

opening obv's

suzie38 · 23/08/2011 22:32

FriggFRIGG We tested out the Xari on Sunday in Solihull's JL...It's the gap between the seat and the back of her knees that DH doesn't like...Though the seat depth is the same as the Donkey , but the footrest is higher so pushes her knees up higher...Plus everything is 'solid' whereas the Donkey seat is softer...Mind you it'll be footmuff weather soon so you won't see her legs...I'll probably just use my Bugaboo custom footmuff rather than buy a proper one.

suzie38 · 23/08/2011 22:34

Yes Tiggy my DD is just heading into 12-18 months...But i guess her legs are longer in proportion to her body than a proper 1 year old...Not too bothered about hood height as i think it looks nicer with no hood...On wet days i'll use my Flyer.

FriggFRIGG · 23/08/2011 22:36

i suppose its a matter of preference,my DD always said she was comfy if that helps...Mimas are such an 'experience' to use.im glad i got to try one out anyhowSmile

aswellasyou · 23/08/2011 22:39

Welcome silly!Smile You could get a colourful footmuff and/or liner for the iCandy. This thread is terrible for making you want new pushchairs, but I'm thinking I could be temporarily cured and it's scaring me!Shock
Truth, I'm glad you got your buyer sorted. Suzie, I reckon you'd love a Xari and your daughter is small.

Tiggywunkle · 23/08/2011 22:40

Its the first photo on here - I dont think the others are the same pushchair. I have the details buried on my desk to put on BB if you want to know more but I thought I might as well show you the photo first. hmmm hold on I have dug the details out...the website is www.activateforkids.co.uk/tandem.htm It's quite special needs though rather than a buggy IYKWIM. Baby Joggers go up to 50kg per seat as you will probably know....Mountain Buggy adapt pushchairs too. Theres often singles on Ebay and the doubles hold a fair weight but of course they are side by sides.
silly it was a double pushchair that started me off with a pushchair problem!! Singles were easy...but doubles are so hard!! The First Wheels is huge! Massively wide and large and kind of rickety. I think the photos make it look nicer than it is in real life TBH. I am liking the Stroll-air Twin at present....I am just not sure how narrow the seats are. I need to check the measurements out again against something I know. I keep looking at the Bumbleride too... but tomorrow fingers and toes all crossed my Duet FINNNNALLLLLLYYYYYYYY arrives :) 10 more likes on BB to make the draw! Yay!! The next one is for a pushchair :o

suzie38 · 23/08/2011 22:41

And DH will miss the storage on the Donkey...I'll admit the basket is very handy for DD toys...But if i get the mima then i'm buying the Joolz Day XL bag...Both have similar shaped frames so it should work...And a lot of the time DD walks so she won't be in it for long periods of time...Hops in and out frequently...But i wouldn't want to carry her if i was buggyless!!! And i don't like carrying bags either.

Tiggywunkle · 23/08/2011 22:42

Like Frigg says you can only describe the Mimas as an "experience". Thats what they are. Stunning to push around, beautiful to drive and look at. I may well buy a Xari one day....or even a single Kobi...but no Frigg...sorry this is not the right time :)

suzie38 · 23/08/2011 22:43

Sold my Oyster air tyres Smile Got quite a few bits listed on eBay for the Oyster...But why oh why do foreigners want stuff posting...Much more hassle than UK sales re sorting the postage out.

Tiggywunkle · 23/08/2011 22:44

I loved the swing away bumper bar for DD hopping in and out. Even the bumper bar was gorgeous!!

sillyworriedmama · 23/08/2011 22:45

hey tiggy I know what you mean, I had lust for the BJCS but when I saw it in person it was huge. Then I saw the Donkey and it looked like the seat units were tiny. Nothing beats trying them out. Bought the cherry over the BJCM because DS was only 6mo and wanted parent facing, but now I'm a bit gutted, although I wouldn't have wanted it at the time! I'm a hard one to please me. I think I'm being seduced by the crimson... have only had black/blue buggies so far :)

Tiggywunkle · 23/08/2011 22:47

I had the black on on order after DH grumbled that most of our pushchairs are red and could we have a different colour....but he then told me it was boring and to change the order to the crimson one!! LOL

FriggFRIGG · 23/08/2011 22:47

yeah i really like that you can have the bumperbar at three different levels too,the handlebar is the perfect shape....its it all feels so,so,so smooth...

aswellasyou · 23/08/2011 22:48

suzie, I now hate carrying bags. I did it a couple of weeks ago walking about a mile and I just couldn't work out how to wear it!Hmm
Saoirse said your air tyres came up on her saved search email today, but she bought some at the end of last week so she was really kicking herself about it! I'm not bothered about posting stuff overseas but they hardly ever ask before bidding.

suzie38 · 23/08/2011 22:48

It was lovely to push in JL but so is the Donkey...Tiggy, the Donkey isn't a one hand fold as you need both hands to slide the lever up...I've been comparing!!! Plus suspension is purely the result of the air tyres...There should be optional air tyres for the Xari...I love the big front wheels on the Donkey but i don't think they'll work on fresh snow as it'll get trapped like it would in many models including the Xari...I think the Cosmo is the most stunning!!!

aswellasyou · 23/08/2011 22:49

Frigg are you advertising your Kobi to us?Grin

sillyworriedmama · 23/08/2011 22:50

may have mentioned I've been looking at buggies. DH is now giving me dirty looks. Whoopsie!

aswellasyou · 23/08/2011 22:50

suzie, did they have the Cosmo in JL on Sunday? They didn't have it earlier in the week.

suzie38 · 23/08/2011 22:52

Yes the bumper bar is great...I like the handle bar better tha the Donkey's because i do prefer pivot handles rather than telescopic ones...Though Bugaboos are fine because they go very low...Vista's was no good as it was too high on the lowest setting...And i liked the bouncy suspension on the Xari, almost as soft as the Vigours.

FriggFRIGG · 23/08/2011 22:52

nah, none of you lot will buy it just sat here polishing it,and playing wit the loveliest bitsGrin

suzie38 · 23/08/2011 22:54

No they didn't...They had all the codes on the system plus an infomation sheet on it...But they rang CR on Monday who said they could order it in...I did go with the codes to my store a while ago and i could have it delivered there to collect.
