we've had some hot weather down here, but cooled off alot now. My ds3 is a july baby too! His birthday is the 13th and im due the 16th so hope i don't go into labour at his birthday party bless him Grin

I love the look of the new summer buggysnuggles but won't be needing this year.

wolfhound · 19/05/2011 14:09

With all the experience here, can I ask a buggy question? What's the best buggy for this situation?

(I am thinking Out & About Nipper with buggy board...)

  • 2.5 yo and 3mth old in buggy. 4 yo on buggy board. To last at least 18 mths so big enough for them to grow
  • Town/pavement use only. Lots of hills. Snow in winter (tho' don't expect it to deal with that, really)
  • Won't be putting it in car boot so that's not an issue.
  • Main use is for daily trek to/from nursery. So not the end of the world if it doesn't fit in many shops, though a bonus if it does. And want it to fit in our back door.

Any of you buggy mavens able to advise?

Guildfordnanny · 19/05/2011 14:16

Nipper or Mountain Buggy Duo possibly the Duet but if size is no issue then get the Duo plus a Freerider Scooter on the back for your 4 year old.

nicolamumof3 · 19/05/2011 14:22

NIpper as its so light

wolfhound · 19/05/2011 14:28

Thanks both! Guildford - how practical are those freerider scooters? Is the buggy still easy to push? What about on hills?

Guildfordnanny · 19/05/2011 14:33

They are very new but I know someone who has one and thinks it is great. It's attached very firmly to the pushchair and to one side (wherever you want) so you hopefully aren't tripping over it. I will definitely get one in a year or so.

FriggFRIGG · 19/05/2011 17:22

the MB is a pre 2010, it was shatteredmumof6's she had 4 OF THEM,SO ITS IN VERY GOOD NICK![GRIN] ID LOVE A DUET,BUT IF THIS FITS THROUGH MY DOOR,WHICH IT JUST MIGHT,THEN I'LL SETTLE FOR IT AS IT'S SO MUCH CHEAPER,(oops sorry about caps)

Sssshhhhhh!!

The iCandy Peach Blossom 2011 is stunningly gorgeous and it is my dream pushchair - absolutely amazing now!!

A very critical website followed by a chance lining up with the planets, a cheeky self invite, a blue moon, some lovely chatty retailers, several four leaved clovers and a wonderful husband brought me quite embarrassingly face to face with the Peach's designer who said he had read my website Blush but he had listened to my criticism, and to comments from other people, and had done something about it. Smile

Enjoy your camping trip!

FriggFRIGG · 19/05/2011 20:19

Wowzers, it's been a while since we last had the pushchair shed and already a few familiar faces Grin

Lots and lots of prams here, we are a bugaboo family but are being converted into the MB family and also have a freerider, so ask away Smile

Guildfordnanny · 19/05/2011 20:32

Just dont tell anyone else ;) but if you fancy reviewing any of your huge collection of pushchairs then I will snog you back Wink
Have fun - you are a brave woman!

aswellasyou · 19/05/2011 21:53

I wish I could be a pushchair reviewer! I seem to like different pushchairs to most people though. I hate Maclarens. I just don't understand why people love them so much. I understand they can be practical but they're not very attractive and others do the same job while looking nice. And ours is bent out of shape so they can't be that sturdy. I'm yet to be convinced on the Mountain Buggy front. I'm not a big fan of pointy pushchairs although I do like the look of our Powertwin so maybe I'm on the turn. I caught myself looking at its reflection in shop windows yesterday. [loser emoticon]

suzie38 · 19/05/2011 22:07

I'm not a fan of Maclarens either or 3 wheelers...I often like unusual pushchairs like the Brio Go, Maxi Cosi Citi CX, Maxi Cosi Mila and vintage models.

aswellasyou · 19/05/2011 22:22

Me too suzie. I prefer not to see 50 other similar looking pushchairs on the walk from the car to the shops!

I'll do my teeny weeny list now seen as it's not hard. In order;
M&P Pliko Pramette
Quinny Zapp
Maclaren Twin Traveller
Silver Cross Halo
Chicco LiteWay
Jane Powertwin

I feel like it's been more because I've used my sister's at times. I'm 8 months into motherhood. That's not that many for 8 months is it? Smile

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 22:35

I don't get Maclarens, especially when people say they are ace for older dc's the backs are so low there is no head support.

suzie38 · 19/05/2011 22:41

Gawd my list is around 35 i think and i'm not sure i can remember them all...I delivered papers for almost 21 years so some were used to carry papers.

aswellasyou · 19/05/2011 22:58

You've got 12 pushchairs at the moment? And another on the way? You must have a big garage with no car in it! My Mum's got an unnecessary 4 car garage. Oh how I wish I could fill it with pushchairs. I've got a one bedroom flat with no storage hence only having 4 pushchairs (two shared).
What do you think of your Nuna? I really liked the look of it and was going to get it as a second pushchair but never made up my mind and then found the Chicco new for £50 so I just got that instead.

aswellasyou · 19/05/2011 23:00

Don't you think it's unlucky to have 13 pushchairs? Grin You'd better get another one.

aswellasyou · 19/05/2011 23:01

Honey, Maclarens aren't good for babies either. Are they just suitable for 12 to 20 month olds? Hmm

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 23:06

Horrid things!

I quite fancy getting a Bumbleride imported but I wont because I'm skint reformed, ok.

I like slings too, I'm trying to curb this as well.

suzie38 · 19/05/2011 23:09

I live in a small 2/3 bedroomed house, not the mansion FriggFRIGG thinks i live in Wink...Quest is at my parents, Super Dreamer at in laws...2 buggies in the greenhouse, 1 in shed, 1 in office,4 in hall, 1 in a cupboard, Nuna in wardrobe...I love the Nuna though for me it's fair weather buggy so not been used over winter...It's so light and nippy plus my DD loves it...She can climb in it herself as she's very short so not always an easy feat...Only downside is the tiny basket...Keeping it for DD to use with her dolls, when she's older because the handle goes so low...I loved playing with real buggies as a kid.

aswellasyou · 19/05/2011 23:27

I think you need a mansion to house them all. Maybe you could afford a mansion if you sold them all!! GrinWink I might consider a Nuna then if notice one going cheap. Your daughter's going to grow up with the same addiction as you isn't she?!
Honey, the Bumblerides are nice. I like the Indie twin actually. It's not ridiculously massive folded and I bet the wheels come off to make it smaller. I reckon the import tax would be a fortune. That's the reason I was banned from buying a Kolcraft Contours despite the fact it was only about £150 including P&P. And I love it! Stupid sister.

suzie38 · 19/05/2011 23:32

Well i have sold a vast amount off in the last 6 months because i want to put the house on the market and i had run out of hiding spaces...The maximum at any one point was 20 i think, with around 18 at my house Blush DD has over 10 pushchairs to her name already!!!

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 23:33

import tax isnt that bad from japan and the usa, just vat and about 3%
