Surely the seat just sits on the frame and clicks in with a downward push... there's bound to be a video demo on YouTube or the Mutsy website.
Ps try logging onto the Mutsy website as if you're a usa customer to see the duo seat in lite rider chassis.

Guildfordnanny · 17/06/2011 13:22

I have instructions but it's a bit like grappling an octopus at the minute. There is a bar that attaches to the second seat but the seat doesn't then simply just click on. If you put it on one way it won't reach far enough to click onto the bar that it should click onto because the recline gets in the way. The instructions show the bar in one place but hubby says it needs to go in the other place. Meanwhile DD decided to stay up half the night reading at least 20 books which were all around her in bed when we checked on her, thus meaning she is extremely tired and grumpy so I can't get chance at present to go back and have another look. I am sure it is easy once you know how....

That was fast!! Grin

Guildfordnanny · 17/06/2011 16:39

Do you like it? Have you built it? I ave managed to do the Mutsy once OH went out! The only Grrrrr is that having got it up, I now need to put it all away again because it's raining and we can't go outside and try it. In the few feet I have pushed it, the steering is awful! I bet it is easier to push with all four wheels locked! I did buy the swivel wheels before realising you shouldn't use them with the Duo seat. The Lite chassis would have been much better but it's too late now. It looks fun and funky though...but not very comfy.

MonkeysPunk · 17/06/2011 18:08

Wow Friggfrigg that was fast shipping!
Sorry you're not liking the Mutsy steering of that chassis. It looks quite different and I'm sure it'll take some getting used to.
I'm actually still content with the swift, quite a record for me! I also have to list the breeze, and a couple of maclarens on ebay.
I'm quite fed up of all the rain atm. Ds begged me to take him out on the bike (him in his new weehoo) and I caved in after he sat watching tv in his bike helmet!
The weehoo lives up to all the hype its easy to use and so fun! We got v v wet though. I need to get the hamax rain poncho! Ds managed to pedal the weehoo - enough to propel us both along too. He was so pleased with himself!

Guildfordnanny · 17/06/2011 19:42

The Weehoo sounds great! Amazing that your son could propel you both! I am sat here wondering what on earth possessed me to buy the Mutsy! It looks so cute and chunky and kind of fun and funky but it's plain awful...there is more padding in the hoods than on the board stiff seats with no sides at all - even for the baby. There is no height choice for the harness. The steering will take planning in order to turn a corner. The seats need taking to pieces every time you fold the pushchair. The seat units feel fragile - especially so when DD is rocking too and fro singing row, row the boat. Worst of all the front footrest is literally a few short inches off the ground and DD can easily touch the ground. I would be horrified if she put her feet down and I didn't know, and she got hurt. It doesn't even have a good shopping basket. Good points - nice leather handle on this edition and lovely bouncy air tyres. Ggrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

FriggFRIGG · 17/06/2011 20:56

YES! its up!
got it together fairly quickly, although one of the hoods got sort of stuck and was a pain, figured it out in the end!
it looks great, the hoods are nice and big,and i love all the seating positions,DD likes "facing each other" best, although i'll probably use back to back more often...
the seat units are on the small side and it is long, but i hope it wont be too much of a problem,
i'll have to see tomorrow, when i go out with it.....

im basically hoping it'll do us untill the DC are a bit older, and DS can stick up for himself,so i can buy the duet or +one Grin

OP posts:
Guildfordnanny · 17/06/2011 21:11

I am glad you will think it will do you. Have you taken it out? I prefer back to back too - and at least my baby can be reclined like this unlike in the City Select. What do you think of the basket? It's huge but I am worried about the staples at the front. I love your logic re the Duet and +One :o

FriggFRIGG · 17/06/2011 21:31

no i havent been out yet,had such a crazy afternoon!
i will take it out tomorow!
i reckon it'll hold quite a bit in weight...i'll get my dad to have a look (he's an engineer)
we are going to the zoo on sunday,so it'll get a proper work out then Grin

im sorry youre not a fan of the mutsy...i was hoping it would be a good compact double option, but not so much if its such a pain to fold....

my thinking with the +One / Duet it once DS can yell "SHE BIT ME" and thwack her back and/or move out of the way, then it'll be all rightGrin

Mutsy Shopping Basket This is worth every penny - very useful if you have the Mutsy. This basket takes something ridiculous like 15kg of shopping in it!!! There are some clips that come with the basket and fasten onto your chassis - then the basket hangs from the large hooks on these clips. The clips stay on the chassis - the basket lifts in and out and has a large carry handle - perfect for bringing the shopping into the kitchen - no more carrier bags needed!

Guildfordnanny - is there any chance you could return the chassis and exchange it for a different one - like the 4 rider light chassis? Alternatively consider picking up the 4rider light chassis on ebay.

You can line the seats with these lambskins here fit the Mutsy standard seat beautifully - and the ties at the back reach over the back of the seat and fasten onto the bars there, to keep them in position. This would add more comfort to the seats.

MonkeysPunk · 17/06/2011 21:43

PS - if you saw the size of me - and my not so big 3y old you would be even more amazed that he could propel us along!!! The bike ride paid off as he had a 3 hour nap after that - and still went to bed tonight by 8pm! That's got to be better than him sitting doing nothing in a standard kid bike seat or trailer. Grin We only went along the nice flat cycle paths but If we go anywhere hilly I shall give him much encouragement to pedal! The Weegoo is pretty heavy at 15kg - but you don't even notice it on the bike - it feels very stable and secure, and doesn't hinder the bike at all - so I'm very very pleased about that. I might notice it going uphill mind you - but then again - not if DS will help pedal. You don't get that kind of assistance with a trailer or baby seat. I do think it's tremendously good for his sense of well-being to know he is helping and being useful - kids do LOVE to be genuinely useful and help in my experience.

Guildfordnanny · 17/06/2011 21:46

Can you fit the shopping basket with the Duo seat on? I only bought this chassis for £50 but the seat was new - it was a bit of a punt. I thought it could be great to walk with. I don't want to spend anything on it TBH - it's full of annoyances. I will give it a couple of runs but I suspect it will be back on EBay. I ought to really just send the seat back as new....I did fancy the Funseat. I think the Mutsy would be a better single than tandem.

Guildfordnanny · 17/06/2011 21:48

FriggFRIGG let me know about the basket - it's shouting to be filled with lots of shopping lol! I like your +One logic. Get one ordered :) You can always cancel / sell it on! I am sure plenty of people will take it off your hands!

MonkeysPunk · 17/06/2011 21:56

Mutsy Single Spoke Chassis £280 (plus £35 shipping) from Fruugo.co.uk - although I've never heard of them or shopped with them.... perhaps you have though?

MonkeysPunk · 17/06/2011 22:00

I think if you gave oxford pram center a call they would be able to answer your question about the basket being used along with the Duo seat. Definately consider the single spoke chassis - it will be LOADS easier than the chassis you have - and you'll probably make your money back on the one you've got if you stick it back on ebay. Even the light rider chassis - as they're more "normal" swivel wheels, so probably easier to use. I found the lite chassis a bit "hard" as no suspension and not much "give" in the frame - so If I were to buy the mutsy again I'd get one with air tyres - probably the single spoke chassis. I am a fan of air tyres though - not everyone is!
I do love the quality of the Mutsy stuff - it's so nicely made. Smile

Guildfordnanny · 17/06/2011 22:13

To be honest it's not really the chassis that is the problem - it's the Duo seat. It's way too low to the ground for DD and the eldest has to sit in the front seat, there is zero padding on the seat - it's just a shaped board - and there is nothing at the sides for my baby if he wants to nap. And it rocks when DD sings. I love the big air tyres and chassis plus I have swivel wheels here but they aren't supposed to go on the Duo. It's the seat that is utterly useless :(

MonkeysPunk · 17/06/2011 22:33

Sorry to hear that - can you return the seat?

Honeydragon · 17/06/2011 22:55

Frigg, glad the contours working out Smile

I like all the "extras" Mutsey do, but have never liked the actual pushchairs enough to give one a whirl.
