Ok so I know technically Im not sold yet but I rang the estate agent on Tuesday . He came around to look around and to discuss marketing and price

Hour later he rang and asked if we could do a viewing within the hour as he had a buyer looking, so we said yes

Wednesday he came back to do the measurements, photos and video

Halfway through he takes a call, can he bring the viewers back without us there - sure

4pm Thursday hes back saying buyers have offered 5k over , are in position to proceed , everyone in their chain is , my new house I have on reserve will be ready in January, will I accept

Not even a brochure published and the house sold STC

We only thought about moving a week ago and now it seems we are

It really isn't. Read back through. It's the kind of post where it's fair to warn someone that not all estate agents are completely above board, or to talk about a similar situation that went right or wrong. But for the people who are just on here to be gleefully and gratuitously nasty, or pick holes in the scenario, what's the point?

Aside from the silly side show re the en-suite… what posts have you seen with are so poisonous?

You sound so stressed and you’ve only just started the process…. Good luck @suki1964 (to you and your buyers!!)

Im not stressed - yet :)

Another couple have come forward , no advertising, but they know the house, he grew up in it and has always said , if you sell, first refusal please

Hes asked us to give him a week to make sure he has the money moving forwards and he will go over again to get it .

DH is taking over the selling because Im too invested

I have a rural property @Periperi2025 .
We used to have an oil boiler.
Then gas was led into the location and we changed.

There is NO GAS here, we are very rural . Agriculture surrounds us and we are on granite so no chance of getting pipes through

Housing here is strictly controlled . This house is on the market because an Orange Hall has been demolished. It could be 20 years before another site comes up.

Again you are projecting yours on to me

Haha - I'm not projecting anything.

My post was for the other poster who mentioned heat pumps. It wasn't for you.

Hmmmm

I lived 1100ft up the side of a mountain, no prospect of mains gas or mains water or mains sewerage up there!!

Haha yes. Mumsnet is jumping all over the place for me today 😂

Suddenslip · 12/10/2026 06:59

Good luck @suki1964 . On the basis of this thread and how you describe your house, I would be very nervous about the survey and brace yourself for that £50k loss you mention as growing substantially unfortunately

You have accepted an offer @suki1964

but in the background you have promised first refusal to someone else

lovely

Yeah, this is really really shitty behaviour. You accepted their offer, they are probably excited about buying your house and planning their life and you’re going behind their backs to try and get a better offer. And you said that if this doesn’t happen their mortgage will fall through and they’ll be fucked. Really nice work….
