Would my front door put you off buying my house?!

Just painted it. Colour is not quite what I was going for. I wanted a lighter dusky pink. Ive only done one coat. Do you think it's too much? It's a wooden door so can be re-painted by buyers. I'm putting my house up for sale soon.

It woudn’t put me off if the brightness of the doors is not replicated inside, if you have Barbie pink kitchen and bathroom suite it would as it would be a lot of work if you want to have it painted properly or replaced.

It may lower buyers’ expectations to pay a full price but you can get that even by putting a silly sticker on the windows. Basically they start negotiating the offer reduction in their minds before they go in. A more neutral colour would be better even if it is a neutral pink.

Hang a few decapitated Barbies outside as an ironic statement.

Jane143 · 08/09/2026 18:12

It looks great

Don't like pink. This color looks like bubble gum. I would just paint it white and let buyers decide what color they want. No pink at all.

SnailandWhal · 08/09/2026 18:15

OP not sure if this has already been suggested but if you had a beautiful hanging baskets of flowers the pink door would look more 'in place'. I think as it's just the one pop of colour it feels slightly off but some gorgeous flowers would balance it.

It wouldn't put me off the property but it would be a "that'll have to go" work item in my brain 😁

We bought a house we nicknamed "yellow monstrosity" when we were viewing.
It took us around 10 years to get round to painting the yellow to a more neutral colour. 🤣

MsPrufrockk · 08/09/2026 18:19

I love a pink door - it would attract me more to your house, though I'd be hoping the interior would be colourful as well!

Back in the 2000s I remember viewing a property that had a Taupe front door and thinking it looked really classy from outside. Unfortunately, on viewing the property, the owners had done the hallway in taupe, the living room in taupe (including carpets & curtains)... yes... the bedroom and bathrooms as well. Definitely taupe, overkill. It was like being inside a big blancmange!

Oldtigernidster · 08/09/2026 18:25

It looks great.

LondonLass2026 · 08/09/2026 18:25

Not remotely. It's gorgeous. It would draw me in, if anything.

Leedsfan365 · 08/09/2026 18:30

Yes 100%

Strongopiniononaboutprettymucheverything · 08/09/2026 18:30

Lots of houses have the frame painted around here, but i did wonder if i painted that white it might tone down the pink a bit? Idk

I personally think a pink door in a white frame would look weird. Like a cake or something.

Namechangingregularly · 08/09/2026 18:31

I love it. I’d feel it was a special house!

SunsetDrifter · 08/09/2026 18:31

I don't like the colour and would repaint it, but it wouldn't put me off an otherwise lovely house.

Dillydollydingdong · 08/09/2026 18:37

Not keen, but it's easy to re-paint.

YourSassyOchreMaker · 08/09/2026 18:39

Love it

FullLondonEye · 08/09/2026 18:46

Pretty much anything is going to shine next to that ghastly white UPVC thing next door.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 08/09/2026 18:48

I thought it was going to be one of those awful uPVC things with a massive handle and a comedy curved window design.
A wooden door painted in any colour is fine. People can repaint if they don't like it.

Arcticbattle32 · 08/09/2026 18:48

It’s cute and actually a really lovely colour - but I would have to paint it if it was my house. If you are really motivated to sell tbh I’d paint it a more subdued colour….as some people would probably be put off.

ForQuirkyFawn · 08/09/2026 18:50

When I was younger I used to watch coronation street, jack and vera duckworth had a home on the street, can you see where this post is going?...:)....only teasing..

sweatervest · 08/09/2026 18:50

my front door is pale pink and i am full of joy with it and i love your front door!

No, white would make it jump more.

I would paint it something much more mellow and muted, particularly if that is what inside is like..

Albany have some lovely stoney type colours, you could tone nicely with the bricks

Tibby2024 · 08/09/2026 18:51

Nope it’s beautiful and super cute

Myli1 · 08/09/2026 18:53

No, it wouldn’t bother me at all because I’d immediately change a wooden door for a composite one anyway.
