Would my front door put you off buying my house?!

Just painted it. Colour is not quite what I was going for. I wanted a lighter dusky pink. Ive only done one coat. Do you think it's too much? It's a wooden door so can be re-painted by buyers. I'm putting my house up for sale soon.

Your door is nice but as a viewer I’d be more worried about the neighbours as I don’t like white upvc type doors but I am a bit judgey about doors and their owners

LBFseBrom · 08/09/2026 04:17

No, I assume yours is the pink one and I could paint it easiiy enough.

That would very much make DD want to buy it to be honest!

Littlegreywolfcub · 08/09/2026 05:30

It would definitely put me off.

Cardhey · 08/09/2026 06:31

Please repaint it as the pink is awful. As you’re selling, go sage green or something easy but nice

curious79 · 08/09/2026 06:38

Not if that’s the only thing, but it would have me on to what other horrible design choices have been made inside

disgracefullyyours · 08/09/2026 07:27

No, because of this marvellous invention called paint.

thetinsoldier · 08/09/2026 07:51

I like it!

Bluenotgreen · 08/09/2026 07:55

It won’t suit everyone but it’s a simple fix so I wouldn’t worry about it.

OnlyHasEyesForLoki · 08/09/2026 08:06

It would worry me that the inside was painted pink too - I would repaint it white to match the windows and next door.

No not at all. Although to be honest around here it would only be serious structural stuff that would put someone off a house. They are being snapped up.

Really? Most parts of the UK houses are sitting unsold for a long time, mortgage approvals took a big dive recently as well I believe.

Whether the house sells or not will come down to price not door colour, that is something a buyer can easily fix, the house looks quite small from the outside, getting the price right will be important.

NeedSomeHeadspace · 08/09/2026 17:45

The pink doesn’t complement the brickwork. You need a colourway with a more yellow tone in it. That doesn’t mean paint it yellow.

I’m not in the UK I’m in Ireland and houses are selling unbelievably quickly here. There is a housing shortage .

PeppyRoseBeaker · 08/09/2026 17:51

I think it's lovely 😍

It wouldn't put me off the property but it would be a "that'll have to go" work item in my brain 😁

This.

crikeymikey123 · 08/09/2026 17:53

No wouldn't put me off, it looks like a sweet little cottage

LivingTheDreamish · 08/09/2026 17:53

Not at all - it’s a sign of a loved and cared for home. Personally I would change the pink but I would still love that you did it and be intrigued what I would find inside (while hoping it wasn’t a pink kitchen).

Chezron24 · 08/09/2026 17:57

Sorry, it's a definite no from me

OhcantthInkofaname · 08/09/2026 18:06

I'd buy it just because it's pink.

Happycat74 · 08/09/2026 18:06

I love the colour. It wouldn’t put me off.

Not necessarily, would depend what inside was like, however it wouldn't be top of my viewing list. Just paint it black or white

Tryingtomoveisdrivingmecrazy · 08/09/2026 18:09

I love it!! I painted my front door pink and when I put it up for sale it sold almost straight away! Mind you - the new owners have painted it green now :-(

rosie1873 · 08/09/2026 18:09

No, it certainly wouldn't put me off, but it would be the first paint job after moving in.
