Anyone else browse Rightmove for fun after moving house? If so, what do you think of this house and its “garden”?

We moved house recently, so I have no intention of doing it again for a long time, if ever. However, I am now addicted to wandering around Rightmove just for entertainment purposes, which is probably a bit sad! Anyway, I have just seen this house for sale and wondered what Mumsnetters would think of it…

Its all bloody awful.

Dorothyperky · 29/06/2026 13:49

It's ritzy but each to their own.

BookLogistics · 29/06/2026 13:49

What do you think of it? Is it in the area you live in and that’s why you found it? I often look at property, but mainly where I live, or places I have visited.

Parchedpeas · 29/06/2026 13:49

I can’t find anything nice to say about this house or ‘garden’ 😂
I am a bit fascinated by the crazy cushion sculptures on the beds.

GingerBeverage · 29/06/2026 13:50

Interior - Trump
Exterior - I guess if gravel is your favourite surface, you're set.

Dorothyperky · 29/06/2026 13:50

I've known people put one room up for advice and get absolutely slaughtered on MN.

Favouritefruits · 29/06/2026 13:51

The whole house is not to my taste! What’s with the cushion piles???

Kalanthe · 29/06/2026 13:52

Wow this is less than what my house is worth but I'm in London so it's so much more humble

That house is giving me gypsy Donald Trump vibes. Someone's trying really hard to appear rich. There are multiple static caravans behind the house, how many people live there? The "garden" is an abomination, I love grass and plants and find concrete fronts and backs dreadful. It could be a nice house if they had a bit more taste and if the location was better (looks like the middle of an industrial estate?)

Sunnyyetnotsunny · 29/06/2026 13:52

The scary thing is all the tiles and I assume no underfloor heating based on radiators.
Looks like pimped up more gold house of one of my SILs in ME 😁 Just missing the floor level sofa!

MajorFortuna · 29/06/2026 13:52

Good gracious, my eyes.

CatherinedeBourgh · 29/06/2026 13:52

Well, it's clearly a house that was associated with a business, hence the yard. It's in an industrial area, so probably someone who worked and lived there and is now retiring?

RhannionKPSS · 29/06/2026 13:52

Very cold looking, those floors will be a nightmare

Maybe5 · 29/06/2026 13:54

It would be a fun place to skid around in socks. Beyond that, not for me.

Luckydog7 · 29/06/2026 13:54

Trump on the inside
Tramp on the outside

For the love of god. That garden could have been stunning and now the poor new owners will have to spend goodness knows how much getting rid of 20 tonnes of gravel. Why to people hate plants!!!

24Dogcuddler · 29/06/2026 13:55

Awful decor. Industrial area for such an expensive property.
Im guessing that the “ garden” is hard standing for more caravans.
We moved last year also won’t be moving again but do like to browse!

Tonissister · 29/06/2026 13:57

Dubai-wannabe vibes.

Not to my taste at all.

longhotsummer2026 · 29/06/2026 14:00

Is it opposite an industrial park?
sorry, not to my taste, it’s trying to be portray “bling” with the strategically placed designer carrier bags in the kitchen and bedroom.

FreedomandPeace · 29/06/2026 14:00

I’m a rightmove browser aswell OP

The only thing that’s good about this property is that they left some of the original fireplaces
they painted them white though, so that’s crap
Hate everything else

Even the listing is annoying
No doors into rooms on the ground floor and I hate it when EAs can’t be bothered to make wall thicknesses correct
Er.then there’s the huge expanse of ceilings in pics because they think wide angle is best

it’s a no from me OP

Buscobel · 29/06/2026 14:01

There is not a single redeeming feature in that house. It’s utterly awful.

JMSA · 29/06/2026 14:03

It’s not to my taste at all, but then I’m not in the business of poking fun at other people or their homes.
Well-done you for making the snobs’ day.

Lifelover16 · 29/06/2026 14:04

It’s on a very busy road and right next to an industrial estate. The interior is dazzling! The F&M bags and hamper on display in the kitchen are the final straw!

Whyohwhy1973 · 29/06/2026 14:08

I would have thought that it's fairly obviously a house belonging to gypsies.

Pemba · 29/06/2026 14:08

Interesting! That's actually not that far from me.

Somebody has spent a lot of money on the finish, maybe, but the effect is quite tacky! Donald Trump-esque as a pp said. The yard/garden is so bleak and sterile. What is wrong with trees, for a bit of greenery, shade and privacy?

It's near a busy road too. The whole town of Hinckley has generally very reasonably priced housing, and for that money you could get somewhere much more tasteful in a much nicer area. I'm thinking of Burbage, to the south side of the town.

It will take a long time to sell, I bet.

Beamsss · 29/06/2026 14:11

Presumably it was used for something other than a single family dwelling and the work has primarily been done with that in mind, and will need to be undone.

It seems very expensive for somewhere that needs a lot of work though. I know two people who have moved to Leicestershire from where I am in SE because they could get so much more for their money. That price seems about right for here.

Blackcatahotcat · 29/06/2026 14:15

The like a cushion don’t they. Very baroque and dated.
